Also straight from the description of Gangrels:

"After the Embrace, the sire disappears into the night, leaving the new Gangrel on his own. The Gangrel believe that it is better to save the effort of training a childe until after he has proven that he can survive. Thus, the sire completely abandons his new creation in the early nights, leaving him alone to face the struggle of survival. "

It's a huge part of Gangrel society. They don't do sires, the first gangrel to find you will more or less be your 'sire'. But it's important to their culture that you make it through a year (it says 'through your first winter') before they even consider a member of the clan.

"A new Gangrel must survive at least one winter before he is worthy of teaching. "How many winters?" is often the first question a Gangrel asks upon first meeting another in the wilderness. A new Gangrel rarely has the correct answer and thus reveals himself. Tradition has it that any pup so encountered becomes a responsibility. "

I am sorry if I am being obtuse. I can try making a different character if you want. I did edit it to remove the hospital though!

A direct qoute from the description of gangrels:

"A Gangrel sire often chooses a prospective candidate for the Embrace during feeding. If the mortal prey resists, fighting against what is happening, then his reward after death may be a taste of Gangrel blood."

Two characters who keep their heads down. I wonder how well Drake and Ed will get along. I can't imagine Drake is a big fan of listening to history but Ed seems nice!

Physical Description:
Rally is far from what you imagine when you think of a soldier. At a towering 5'4" with a lean, petite build, and overall looked somewhat lithe and scrawny. Rally's face is the only part of her that reflects the truth about the fierce warrior hiding inside.

Rally has dark skin and thick, wavy black hair. Her nose is thick and prominent on her rounded face. Her eyes, though somewhat sunken and hidden under puffy bags under her eyes are piercing, light bluish grey. Her left cheek has a long, deep scar that starts near her cheek and ends just before her ear.

Rally usually wears a set of thick-brimmed, circular glasses with lenses that could be described as 'bug burners'. These glasses tend to soften her look by magnifying her eyes to a cartoonish size. Her lips, which are usually thin and pale, are also often magnified by the dark red lipstick she uses.

Backstory: Rally was born on Argos in a much less populated area on the dark side of the moon. Here they lived in a mostly subterranean base used for mining chroma. Her mother was in charge of repairing mining machinery, while her father dealt with maintaining the ventilation in their colony.

When the war broke out between the Elysium board and the Lunar Alliance, the production and mining in her colony went directly to fueling the Elysium board's warfront. Rally herself would take a job in the factories building and repairing ships and military equipment. This was when she would learn about the first walkers in production, and manage to see blueprints of their design.

This brought them to the attention of the Lunar Alliance, which saw them as an important target. Rally's home was attacked, and while they were able to seal themselves off to prevent a full-scale invasion they only prolonged their death into a long, gruesome stalemate. The initial skirmish left most soldiers on the Argos side dead or too injured to fight. With the entrances to the colony shut off, they were left with a dwindling supply of food and medical equipment.

Rally watched those she had grown up around starve, watched her parents refuse food to feed her and her siblings. Things got worse when the invading force started bombing the surface, destroying important solar power facilities and ventilation shafts. Still, the people endured, even without food, without lights and heating, and with hardly enough air to breathe. Battles broke out when the lunar forces bore into the colon. Still, just as soon as they began to overtake the subterranean facility, they were repelled by a squadron headed by Valkyrie 01, by a walker manned by a young woman.

In the chaos underground, Rally had been separated from her family and never saw them again. Her mother was found dead, and while her father was never recovered, witnesses testified to him being crushed by a collapsed tunnel. Rally's brothers and sisters had similar stories. Rally was noted as a hero, having taken it upon herself to defend her home in their time of need.

Initially, she intended to return to her factory job, but the military instead offered to take her in as a walker soldier. Fueled by her anger and pain, she gladly joined up. Rally was given proper training with her Walker and with a few modifications, she was battle-ready.

Strength: analytical. Combining her understanding of her friends and walkers to be able to find crucial information for a team.
Weakness: Rally cares too much about her squad. If they get hurt, she won't be able to focus.

MTU-8001 Valkyrie

Description:
Mounted turret unit version 8, serial number 001, designation 'Valkyrie'. An archaic older model of Walker from the early days. Covered in battle scars and lacking any flashy paint job, Valkyrie is heavily armored with thick plates of steel. A shoulder-mounted turret is on one side, the other being a sheath for a massive energy saber. The regulation shield is attached to the forearm, a series of smaller machine guns built into the wrist.



Aspects
Strength: durability. Above all else, Valkyrie is built to last. Regular infantry and mounted firepower do very little against it. Even when fighting fellow walkers, it's able to shrug off glancing blows and enduring attacks that would sunder others.
Weakness: maneuverability. Valkyrie is slow and lacks the agility and dexterity that later models possess. Valkyrie is intended to act as a defensive wall and hold a line, and relies on pinpoint reflexes to dodge or counter attacks. To a faster, high-powered enemy, it is essentially a sitting duck.

Being a vampire has changed Drake from a jovial and friendly guy to be much more stand-offish and gruff. He tends to stay stoic when he can, but when blood or answers are involved, he becomes an exceptionally excitable individual. The few 'friends' Drake has left get to see the 'good' in him. Deep dow,n Drake is just a scared young man lashing out in fear. To those close to him, he is loyal, compromising, and a solid confidant. To others, he's a bloodthirsty maniac.

In situations where he is in danger, Drake is a surprisingly cunning foe. Cowardly by nature, he prefers ambushes and rushes down before quickly fleeing if he can't make a clean kill. In situations where he had been cornered, expect the actions of a trapped fox, lashing out like a feral beast. At his heart, Drake is sweet, but vampirism has a way of tainting even the most kind of souls..

Drake grew up in a rough household. His family was disjointed and poor, and Drake learned to stay out of the house to keep his parents's ire away from him. He was raised by the streets, learning many hard lessons. Eventually, his rebellious teen phase led him down a life of crime. Selling drugs, minor thefts, and plenty of other petty crimes helped him get the things he wanted. As he grew older, he grew bolder and his crimes grew more in intensity. Muggings, pickpocketing and burglary were quickly added to the list. Drake's family abandoned him after he was sent to prison for his crimes and he spent three years trying to reform. As a young adult of 23, fresh out of prison, he decided to change his ways.

Drake moved away from his hometown, found a job as a janitor and tried to keep his head down in his dingy new apartment. Being alone was torture, and the pain of poverty slowly crept back into his life. Finally, after his car broke down on him he grew desperate and once again returned to a life of crime. Unfortunately for him it was short lived.

In an attempted mugging gone wrong, Drake quickly learned about the supernatural. His target, which appeared to be a rough and ragged man using an atm in an isolated spot was not as defenceless as Drake had expected. When Drake pulled a knife on the man, they where on him in a flash, biting his neck. In Drake's last moments of life he fought with his quickly draining strength, clawing and thrashing in vain.

When he awoke, the man he had attacked stood before him, blood still smeared across his mouth. They quickly explained what had happened, the embrace, and the hunger Drake was feeling. Then, they left in a flash before Drake could ask any further questions.

Lost in the hunger of a fresh embrace, Drake tasted blood for the first time in his life. The act horrified him, and he fled from town that very night, afraid of being caught and afraid of harming anyone he knew. With his car still broken down, he moved on foot, hitchhiking when he could but never staying around for long.

Drake spent the next year traveling the country, hunting for prey in the woods and countryside in an attempt to save himself from ever drinking human blood again. He spent nights in any shelter he could find: rest stop bathrooms, caves, barns, anything. When he made it to Riverside, he looked as ragged as he felt.

The local Gangrels found him quickly, angry that he had entered their territory unannounced. They asked him the titular question: "How many winters?" and when he gave them his answer, they took him in. Drake found no kinship in those who trained and cared for him, though. They encouraged him to lose his heart, to give in to the beast's call and become like them. Undead hunters of the night. Warriors of the Anarchs. Drake disliked the constant sparring and beatings they called lessons, as well as the camaraderie. Still, they kept him fed and taught him to form his claws so he keeps a polite relationship.

Drake may act as if he is too good for his kindred and use smarm and snide remarks to lash out for others. Deep down though his humanity is still intact and he wants nothing more than to do as little harm as he possibly can. He drinks from animals and blood bags, doing anything he can to never taste fresh human blood. He tries not to engage in human politics and crime unless nessecary and mostly keeps to himself. The less he engages with the world of vampires or humans the less collateral purely for his existence. He tends to try to endure punishment when he can and while it may make him seem like a groveling fledgling or an apethetic monster, he truly just does not want to esculate.

Survivor

Drake detest the vampiric fallacy that their humanity is a weakness. He clings to it and strives over anything to find a cure. He refuses to debase himself to the rituals and society when he can, and just wants his old crummy life. Even with every sign and older vampire telling him that there is no hope he would do anything to escape his curse.
