Bio

Just a small, fragile birdboy with a huge beak. I used to be Manapool, but we don't talk about those days. I have been here a while if you couldn't tell.

In all honesty, I am 25 and in a committed relationship outside of roleplay. I work as a cook who works nights. I'm a big fan of seeing people's food they make and learning about new foods if you ever want to share. I enjoy tabletop games, card games, and video games as well as reading comics in my spare time. Your typical nerd, you might even find me at conventions!

Most of the time I stick to Superhero groups and Play by post D&D here. I have admittedly begun taking far fewer rps. I prefer Fantasy and Superheroes as a genre but I find myself more and more interested in interested in Sci-fi settings too! My main fandoms are Fallout, Kenshi, and Marvel but I have a lot of niche interests like Hylics, Neopets, and Monster High. Do you have a strange fandom you want to rp? I am the kind to at least take a look at the source material!

These days I am closer to a low to mid Casual roleplayer. I want at least a paragraph from replies and don't mind dipping lower than casual if it fits the flow better. I am capable of writing decent long posts but expect me to take eons to reply. I also must warn you that I tend to lose a lot of steam in the winter months.

Name: Jade Sum
Species: Duros
Age: 26
Appearance:

Equipment:

 • DL-18 Blaster Pistol
 • Cycler rifle
 • Wrist-mounted fibercord whip launcher
 • Scramble keys

Skills:

 • Sharpshooting: Growing up in a remote farm on Saleucamii, learning to shoot was basically a necessity for basic self-defense. When things got boring, Jade enjoyed plinking and practicing her shot. She is a deadly sniper and a decent shot with blaster rifles and pistols.
 • Dogfighting and piloting: Years of experience driving hovercrafts and swoop racing geared Jade up for proper spacefaring starships, but Jade's skills go beyond that. She's a natural in the cockpit and flies a ship like she was navigating with her own body.
 • Hacking: Jade is far from an expert, but she's picked up the skill to get through electrical locks and alter child logs for ships. She's not going to be decrypting Imperial orders, but getting doors and locks open should be a cinch.
 • Leadership and moral support: Above all else, Jade's unwavering adventurous spirit and way with words are her greatest assets. She is a lifeboat in a sea of despair, and rouses the courage of the most cowardly. When the chips are down, just having Jade around helps keep people's minds at ease.

Weaknesses:

 • Never tell me the odds!: Jade lives for the thrills and pushing her luck is simultaneously exhilarating and has payed of for her in the past. As such, she tends to take unnecessary risks and doesn't think about failure.
 • Up-and-coming: Jade is skilled and bold, but she lacks experience. Some things just can't be taught, and Jade will have to learn that the hard way.
 • Soft-hearted: While she is a rough and tumble country girl, Jade's heart isn't as tough as she is. She believes in mercy, and a wise enemy could use this to their advantage.
 • Back line: While Jade is a crack shot, she has no martial training and very little experience. An enemy that can get close to her has all but assured victory, as Jade is not strong enough, tough enough, or skilled enough to fight a foe at melee range.

Personality: Jade is shockingly bubbly for a criminal. She enjoys her banter and has a somewhat impish nature. She seemingly lacks a single serious bone in her body, always joking, teasing, and making light of her situation. She is brazen and brave but not a fool, though she teeters on the fine line between the two.

That said, when the chips are down and the cards are on the table Jade knows knows when to drop this persona, because for all intents and purposes it is a persona. She acts brave and laughs in the face of danger but in reality she is a young lady falling down a dangerous path and she knows it. She may like to tease and prank but she takes peoples feelings very seriously. She can be empathetic to those close to her.
History:
Born in the last days of the clone wars, the earliest years of Jade's life were filled with strife and peril. Her family struggled as battles between separatists and the republic ended abruptly with the final orders of the clones. In the various battles that unfolded on the planet, Jade's brother was killed in the crossfire before she was even able to remember him. The planet had tried to remain neutral in the war, though once the Empire formed and claimed Saleucami as its own, very few denizens of the planet argued. Jade's parents were just relieved to be able to return to a life of safety and seclusion.

Unfortunately for them, their daughter was not. It wasn't immediate, but as Jade grew up, she yearned for more than just this humble farm life. The older she got, the more rebellious and adventurous she became. At first, it was just going into town, something she could do when the family needed supplies or to sell their produce. Eventually these little errand runs turned into a chance for her to hit the town: to dance at cantenas and enjoy the spice of life. She took up swoop racing when a boy who took an interest in her let her drive one and she turned out to be good. She did her best to keep this from her family, but the changes to her personality were noticed.

As jade grew out of her teen rebellious phase and into pining for a chance to see the world beyond her home. Chain codes and intense empire restrictions kept her from ever just up and leaving, but hearing the tales of merchants or other travelers who got to travel the stars and see the galaxy, enamored her. By the time Jade was a proper adult at 20 she had long since outgrown her old haunts. No one wanted to race her, the cantenas all seemed so dull, and Saleucami lacked any real entertainment.

Jade's chance to leave would come from another duros. A charming traveler she met in one of the seedier cantinas in town let it slip that he had evaded the Empire to get here while talking to her. That night, she bought his drinks while he regaled her with tales of his adventures. This was Dula Hura, a smuggler here to sell narcotics in exchange for weaponry stolen from the empire. Dula enchanted Jade, he was everything she ever wanted to be: bold, adventurous, exciting and charming. That night she begged him to take her with him. Against his better judgement he did, and Jade never looked back.

Unfortunately, time with Dula was brief, but it was a time Jade could never forget. Fleeing from her homeworld, Jade was disappointed to see how much of the outer rim was just like Saleucami. Sparse towns and farmers scraping by under the ever-present eye of the empire. The few places that weren't controlled by the empire were run by scum and villains. Dula tried to keep Jade out of the hairier parts of his business, letting her pilot and help with hauling but keeping as much of the actual dealings from her as possible. Still, no matter how protective the older Duros was, there was always the inevitable shoot-outs and chases. Jade quickly learned how to fire a gun to kill, and her relationship with Dula grew closer from their shared battle bond. Things were looking good for the two of them: until the Empire struck.

On a supply run to a small rebel faction, the duo quickly learned that the rebel cell had been discovered. Dula was ready to drop off his supplies, take his money, and leave but the rebels offered him additional payment to help them defend their humble base. Dula initially denied them, but Jade coaxed him into accepting when she learned there were children in the base as well. Reluctantly, he stayed to fight.

The Duros duo fought valiantly, Jade having taken a vantage point with her sniper rifle while Dula used planted explosives and traps to funnel the stormtroopers into the Rebel firing lines. The battle was bloody and brutal, and Jade choked at a pivotal moment, resulting in Dula being shot down. This would also be the first time Jade ever saw a Jedi in action, as amongst these rebels was a survivor of Order 66. Ultimately, the rebels won, but casualties were high, and the base was no longer safe. Wracked with guilt and grief, Jade's hatred for the Empire grew that day. She offered to help resettle some of the rebels, and amongst them she made a friend, another who had lost someone dear to them: their mother.

Jade used Dula's old ship, and with their new friend, she continued the same line of work she was used to, though with a significant lean towards the Rebels. Dula had worked for them purely for the money, working with Hutts and pirates just as often, so long as the money was right, but Jade now had a personal reason to do anything she could to take out the Empire. At first is was just supply runs. Then it was helping smuggle rebels safely across the stars. Then, she was another hired gun for the rebels, never donning the uniform and joining their ranks but seemingly always on their side.

Eventually, she was contacted for another job: to meet up with and potentially support the local rebel cell on Tregallon since they had been put under lockdown. It was the same as any other job to Jade, so she eagerly joined up, for a price.
Gangle stared at her broken mask, even as the others came to comfort her. She eventually picked up the pieces and stood up, offering a teary eyed but wistful smile to Riff's kind offer.

"Cane usually fixes it..." She said, before looking to the crowd gathering around their captor. She let out a heavy sigh.
"But I don't want to bother him right now" she added.
"Could you hold onto this, Riff? Maybe we can find something to fix it in this adventure" she added, bringing the two pieces of the broken mask up towards her fluffy avian friend.

"No, no, I gotta see this" Jax said with his arms crossed and his smirk gleaming.
"I'll gladly join this adventure if there's a 'ragatha' in it" he made sure to make the apostrophes with his fingers, before waving off the notion.
"What a dumb name, right Caine?" Jax couldn't help but Chuckle when he said it.
sorry yall! I have hit a slump recently, but I will try to get a reply out!
I use to like playing single and warwick but I was never any good. Braun and the girl with the big boomerang are cool too!

“Sending the code now.”

A series of beeps emitted from the large panel of flashing lights, switches, and buttons located near the yoke of the Bane. Wear and tear had taken its toll on the dash, leaving tiny nicks and scratches across the metallic panel. Certain buttons faded from frequent use. Worse of all was the seat that the captain currently reclined in. The leather had seen much better days, with holes exposing the padding within, and so much of it was so worn down that the seat had a skewbald texture to it.

Sat in that seat, before the dash was a duro woman, her hands clasped together and a serious look as she stared out at the massive space station before her. Her red eyes lacked any pupils, making it hard to tell just where she was staring, but Captain Jade Sim was staring pensively at the massive turrets that protected the space station.

“Everything checks out. Prepare to dock.”

The voice came back to her through a speaker nearby. Jade released her bated breath. Such were the dangers of running a wanted ship. You could alter and switch Chain codes all you want, but it never made the occupation less dangerous. Most officials did not have the resources and time to dig up information on a ship, especially one so old as the Bane, but it only took one to ruin a good thing.

“You heard the man, Vaxxi. Bring her in” the woman finally said, letting her relief slip into her voice as she thrust a finger into the air, a smile forming on her face. Her eyes flickered to the panel to ensure her comlinks were off before she turned to the other figure in the bridge, the one that wasn't her co-pilot and old ally. The Jedi. The word still made her spine tingle, as if just thinking it painted a bullseye on her back.

‘...Snnnnrrrrrt, snnnnnrrrrt, snnnnnnrrrrrt…’ Korvax snored loudly in the cargo section of the Dayvan cargo ship. He was strapped into a canvas and aluminum constructed row of seats along the port side of the fuselage that could be removed to accommodate more stores if needed. For now, the ship wasn’t carrying too much and the seats were installed. As the vessel neared it docking moorings, Korvax was shaken out of his dream. He was slow to become alert, but looked around recognizing his surroundings. Afterall, it had been about ten years he had been working on this ship.

After unstrapping his buckles, he made his way to the bridge. The port whooshed open allowing him access. The other two crewmates were seated facing forward as Jade Sim made her way towards the tractor beam drawing the Bane into its moorings. He looked at Quin who was attentively staring at the station they were docking at. “Vallis, do you know what we are doing here?” He then looked at Jade, “Cap’n?”

“You have the data pad, right?” She asked, moving past Quin without making eye contact. They had worked together for some time, and she liked the boy. He was sweet, in a sort of naive way, but she was focused on the job. She moved to her gear behind him, attaching her holster and wrist mount as she waited for his reply.

The sound of the navigation map beeped loudly as the fingers of the only human onboard continued to mess with it. The course of the Bane had already been constructed but the man who would be the Navigator of the most illustrious ship in the galaxy, at least that's what he called it, wanted to make sure any future changes would be easy. A tingle at the tip of spine resonated throughout the rest of his body, his mind wandering as it attempted to figure out why. The Jedi, as he was known to the crew only, couldn’t make heads or tails of why the tingle happened.

The Force was a mysterious entity in the Galaxy, living and ever present, but never giving a straight answer or at least that was how it felt to Quin. After his mom’s passing, he always felt something was off. His senses weren’t as sharp as they were before, things would rattle his mind in ways he had never expected before, The Force feeling disconnected from him at times. Drifting further and further, his thoughts ran rampant before he heard the Captain and Korvax.

“I have the datapad.”

Quin reached over to retrieve, turning it on with a touch and passing to the Captain and dear friend Jade. Ever since he had joined, it had been a wild ride and he respected her with the full breadth of his being. And then there was Korvax. Truthfully Quin had no issue with the Ugnaught, while not the most empathetic, he was definitely the best drinking buddy.

Jade extended her arm behind her and accepted the datapad before tapping it to bring up the information within. A rotating picture of the informant flashed onto the datapad: A young human male with long hair and a scruffy beard. The alias given beside him was ‘Mynock,’ which caused Jade to scratch her chin. Why a beautiful young man like this would have such a vile name made her curious. Adrenaline was already starting to pump through her veins now, the mystery, the allure, this was what being a smuggler was all about.

Standard procedure rebel gathering. Meet somewhere discreet enough to not to be questioned, but open enough not to be isolated. Speakeasies in hives of scum and villainy were usually the best place, and this space station had a plethora of spots like this. As per usual, a basic description of the contact, along with their alias, would be forwarded to the Bane crew in some form or another.

“This is where we are meeting the contact. Probably in the worst bar they could find. You’d think avoiding the scum would be the idea”

Jade turned her head back to Quin, now grinning ear to ear at his comments about their rendezvous. She wiggled a finger and shook her head at his admonishment of their locale.

“If the rebels were in the practice of avoiding scum, then they wouldn’t be working with us, would they?” She snarked before leaning down to rest a hand on his head.

She may have only been a year older, but Jade had seen the galaxy and learned so much with Dura. Quinn had insights into mystical practices she could never fathom understanding, but at times it amused her that she was, in fact, a seasoned smuggler now, and some of that experience gave her information only a select few bold characters were privy to.

“Take a look at this space station. Notice the distinct lack of imperial banners and general disrepair,” She replied, ushering with her other hand towards the rapidly encroaching space port. The place had certainly seen better years. The ground in the ship bay had scuffs from the occasional hash entry, the exterior having thousands of tiny bumps too minimal to bother with buffing out but noticeable in their multitude, all likely from stray shrapnel or tiny meteors. Grease stains and scorch marks left a grimy appearance on the ship bay before them.

“That’s because this is an independently owned space station. They pay their taxes, sure, and plenty of people stop here for totally legal business: probably coming in for pit stops or a bite to eat before your next jump,” She mused as the tractor beam sent them through the containment field. Jade rushed back to her seat to guide the ship the rest of the way down from here, gently positioning her ship between various other customized lightweight cruisers and civilian vehicles.

“But the real money for a place like this is with smugglers like us” She said as she flicked a series of switches, hearing the engines wind down, watching the various spacers below them walk the space port like dozens of little ants. The space station was bustling, even in the docking bay.
“They look the other way while we do our business, and suddenly you’ve got frequent customers and loyal ones too,” She said as she spun the pilot's seat around to look at Quinn.
“A place like this, perfect for smuggling, we call that a ‘shadow port’. Best places to find business, and the more populated, the better.” She finally said, stretching her back as she did.

“So we’re meeting at Hutt’s tail? Man, that brings back memories,” She said as she looked back at the datapad, but her eyes drifted away in a wistful expression. It had been over a year since she had lost Dura. Since THEY had lost Dura more accurately, but everything seemed to remind her of him. The Hutt’s Tail was a favorite haunt of his. She had such vivid memories of sipping nectar wines and huffing spiceblends, the latter of which likely made the memory so vivid.

A deep sigh recollected the young captain’s composure. She wasn’t there for leisure, and she didn’t have time to doddle on the past. The rebels were sticking their neck out trying to get her attention and she had to remain professional here. A few taps on the datapad wiped the information stored on it before she started heading off the ship.

“Alright boys, look alive”
We are finishing the apocothary diaries tomorrow. It's not usually my thing but man did it draw me in. My girlfriend never wants to watch anything so the fact she came to me asking to watch it says everything I think it needs to. The main character feels shockingly relatable despite so many of her issues revolving around being a girl.

I don't think our ship is surviving this one gang
It sounds like they have a good idea of how they're getting to Tregallon, though if they want me to I could gladly add them to my montely crew. I would, however, absolutely love to get to roleplay out getting I to tregallon

I have to say, I'm not done reading everyone's posts but I am delightfully intimidated by all of your skills. I hope I don't disappoint, especially coming in late.
