I think to sell someone on an interest check, it's really important to seem enthusiastic about your own idea. That means writing more than a single sentence to attract potential players.

Did you know that Dante's inferno is called a divine comedy because things work out for the protagonist? Back in the day, the only two genres were comedy and drama. The only difference was that in a comedy, the protagonist is better off at the end, and a drama is the opposite. So that's why a story about going through hell can still be considered a comedy, even if it's not funny.
Name:
Broken Promise, BP, Boss
Age:
Old enough to know better, too young to care. (that is to say 30's)
Preferred RPs:
I Prefer to make my own, but will occasionally join something if it looks interesting. I'll join just about anything so long as it isn’t overly edgy/sweet, though it's rare for me to do. I don't do 1x1s too often either.
Preferred Roles:
I tend to play adorable characters everyone wants to befriend or proper assholes everyone wants to stay away from. I try not to play moral paragons or prime evils.
RP Conquests:
I've completed quite a few RP's off site, but most of them are on private forums or have simply been lost to the ravages of server crashes. As for stuff here, I'm sure everyone who sees me post in the off topic sections has seen me find an excuse to talk about Danganronpa: Tower of Carnage. It's a project that took over 4 years to complete and I feel pride not only for myself but all the wonderful people who helped make it enjoyable during its run. Re: Zero: The High Council Is technically my first, but it was just something I kind of took over and ended up ending the story after just six months. It finished, but eh...
For some reason I can't seem to stay away from Ari's magical girl RP, even if I'm not sure why I'm still in it.
As for my own projects, I'm doing Symphony on High to continue the gigachad adventures of the espers in Pax Septimus.
RP Graveyard:
I've been pretty fortunate on this forum. I think I joined one when I first came on the site that didn't really do anything, and there are a few 1x1 things that didn't go anywhere. It's disappointing when an RP ends before it can be finished, but I've come to look at them as learning experiences.
And then there's that london magical girl RP, and that dark magical girl RP. I think I'm done joining magical girl RPs for a while.

Videos
I watch a lot of educational videos on youtube. Usually as research for something I’m writing or purely because a topic interests me. I like channels like Tier Zoo and Daryl Talks Games, and I’ll also watch things like Critical Drinker or Literature Devil to deepen my understanding of story telling. Though I also like memes and jokes, to which I’ll find myself watching stuff like Sseth, but usually find myself surfing through meme videos. I gotta work on that.
Games
I have a rather long history of playing virtually every platformer to come into existence during the indie boom, as well as quite a few other indie games. I’ve played Meatboy, Binding of Issac, Gunvolt, Cuphead, Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt, Classic Metroid, Warcraft 3, Final Fantasy 7,8, and 14, Left 4 Dead, Shantae, Celeste, Danganronpa, God Eater, the list goes on. What I’ve played is kind of all over the place. I don’t play many games these days, I tend to pick things that look interesting and go on a decent steam sale.
Painting Minis
I do this in moderation. Otherwise, it's a pretty expensive hobby to start...
Music
I listen to everything, save most country/rap songs. I have too many favorites to name.
Personality:
Not one to take life or the internet too seriously. Is only serious about writing well and having a good time.
Hana was not one to give up, but her situation was inescapable. With each passing moment, she was only getting more tired as her opponent grew in strength. Her limbs were burning, begging her to submit already. This feeling of helplessness wasn't alien to Hana, but in this moment she couldn't remember when she had encountered it before. Either way, it was looking like it was time to just accept the inevitable. In just a few more seconds, they would crawl over her eyes. Her eyelids fluttered shut as she prepared to accept her fate. But then something intervened. The tentacles were being pulled away from her body. Then she heard a voice.
"Keep... fighting!" A magical girl urged her, practically growling the words through her teeth. "Don't... give... up!"
Hana's eyes flew open. It was hard not to notice the magical girl in an oddly colored Prussian military uniform. Her trembling eyes scanned the girl's every feature, from her glowing gauntlets to her pain stricken face. Despite their predicament, there was something oddly glamorous about the magical girl. Hana would have been envious if she wasn't equally thankful for the girl's help. There was only one thing Hana could think of to repay her kindness.
“I'll keep fighting.” She whispered. “I won't give up.”
With the tentacles intertwined with each other so tightly, they almost behaved as a single wall. Hana's arms were just free enough to where she could slide her hands up by her shoulders. By herself she'd never be able to part the tentacles. But the magical girl's strength paired with her own herculean muscle made things move a lot easier. Hana wasn't sure where her extra stamina was coming from. Her body didn't ache any more. Perhaps all that food she ate earlier was starting to turn into energy? With one final shout, Hana was able to extend her arms all the way out, parting the tentacles down to her hips. With the magical girl holding the tentacles in place, Hana was able to lower her arms and push herself up. Her legs came free, but without her socks and shoes. A small price to pay for her freedom. At least her skirt stayed on. But this was not a time to celebrate. It was only a matter of time before the Negari summoned more reinforcements. Hana had put the magical girl in danger too long already. Without another thought, she dove between the tendrils and landed on the ground running. The ground felt strange on her bare feet, but it didn't slow her steps. Hana ran between two buildings before stopping. She was heaving, gasping for air. It probably wasn't very smart to exert all that energy after eating so much. Despite how her stomach felt, Hana couldn't help but smile a little bit. She had avoided winding up in that things belly. It was not by her own actions, but the rush from surviving a Negari attack was something Hana found to her liking. Yet at the same time, Hana had a new appreciation for magical girls. It didn't really matter if they were fame seekers or not, people who can go up against disgusting monsters like that really do deserve to be respected, boring or not. That was actually the one thing Hana felt a little bad about. She hadn't thanked the magical girl for saving her. But was it wise to go back out there? Would she just get ensnared again?
“Well now, aren't you an interesting girl?”
A voice. It sounded like it belonged to an older woman, but Hana couldn't see anyone around. The voice didn't even seem like it came from any particular direction, which made it difficult to isolate. The only living creature in the alleyway was a parrot. It looked like the same parrot she saw moments ago.
“Hello?”
The parrot looked away from Hana and flew off. Well, that was to be expected. It would be pretty strange if a parrot started to talk to her. But Hana had other concerns at the moment. She really didn't want to return home without her shoes. Maybe if the magical girls beat the Negari, her shoes would pop out like a drop in some role playing game? It also might be an opportunity to thank that magical girl who saved her. Regardless, it seemed like sticking round the monster battle was her best option. But the Negari seemed to be moving, so Hana would have to catch up to it. Without getting too close, of course...
@BrokenPromise Hmm, well, yes, I am interested in seeing why there are so many (I mean, your argument is that there aren't many. But I think that despite a lot of screamy attention grabbing 'ill' people on RPG, there are a lot more that are genuinely ill that you do not hear about) on RPG, that have a genuine illness.
That was more or less the point behind my second post here. There is no definitive proof anyone online has a mental illness. There's just a user's claims, or what the doctors who want them to have mental illnesses claim. As a result, the discussion would become something akin to a roman catholic and atheist discussing religion.
I suppose you make a fair point but my prime concern, again, is that it is very largely dependent on the person, and also the manner in which they escape. Some might cope well with roleplay, others might not?
Yea, but i don't really see where that matters?
The real question is: would these people who use roleplay to escape be better or worse on something else? I mean if someone is causing harm to others (driving home to post too fast, killing on behalf of their character/in game god) would they be in a better situation if they obsessed over something else?
^ I find it extremely interesting that someone who works in the dating industry is willing to openly admit that they need help finding good cartoon porn.
My inner monologue when I realized I needed a name for this forum:
"Should I use my real name? Nah, that's way too homey. Uhh, wow, I don't really want to spend a half hour thinking of a name for a silly web forum. I go by break sometimes, but that's becoming kind of generic. This was a lot easier when my mother gave me my name. I can name a dog but what do I name myself? Well, BrokenPromise? It's a little long, but it's not too pretentious. Well, I could probably think of a better one, but it doesn't really matter. I'm BrokenPromise I guess..."
@BuddhaSo to clarify, you're interested in discussing genuine mental illnesses? I am not sure how that alone can be considered a question. But I think(?) I have a better grasp on the second part of the topic that you wish to discuss, which is how something like rolplaying would affect someone with a mental disorder.
I think this is a notable concern as almost anyone with a mental disorder seems to have something they obsess over. Obsessions are dangerous, but I'm not sure what the harm in escapism is. It could hinder their ability to heal, even reduce their effectiveness as a member of society. But I'd rather them be saving a make believe kingdom than subscribing to someone's blog on Facebook or even 4 Chan. At least on RPG the escapism is contained to a written story that everyone else more or less knows is a farce. The OOC constantly reminds you of this. But when you use facebook, dressing up, or going to expensive parties that you really can't afford as a form of escapism, I think they're doing far more damage to themselves. They are escaping in plain sight, with real people.
I think there are worse things a mentally ill person could do with their free time.
@Buddha I guess you have to give a better example of people with mental disorders then, because you actually mentioned ADD/ADHD/ and whatever else in your opening post. What makes you so sure your encounters with people with mental illnesses weren't labels?
Perhaps the reason for our differing perceptions is how we view web forums as a whole. When I go to forums frequented by people age 20-25+, very few if any of them complain about their mental problems. They do like to take a spin on the soap box mind you, their mental stability just never seems to come up. It's only in these gathering places of dark, brooding teens do I ever see all of these mental problems. Even in real life I notice that younger people are much more willing to mention they have a mental illness. Because of this personal experience, I believe most of these people claiming to have mental illnesses were either misdiagnosed or simply spent too much time on web MD. Or as you and I have been calling it, a label. But you specified that wasn't what you wanted to talk about. So I must see far more labels and you must see far more genuine mental illnesses, in the exact same people.
"Never mind, as two words, is a conjunction. It is usually used between two options, ideas, or situations, with the latter being the less probable. It is synonymous with much less or let alone.
Another definition for never mind is when the words are used almost as an interjection to tell the listener not to worry. Most commonly it is used when the audience is trying to figure out a concept or idea, or even simply what the speaker said. It is almost synonymous with forget about it or it doesn’t matter. Some dictionaries list this definition under never mind, while others don’t list it at all. On the other hand, most speakers have gone the way of simplification and merged the two-word conjunction into nevermind.
Spell checkers will flag nevermind, but it is used once for every two times never mind is used, which means it’s pretty popular. It is only a matter of time before it is added to the dictionary as an official listing. Meanwhile, in informal language it is fine, but stick to never mind for formal work. Though the odds of telling your audience in a formal work to forget about it, is unlikely. Perhaps that is why the written definition is lacking."
