Free Sorcery: An Alagaësian Roleplay

@Ceta de Cloyes Thank ye kindly. How many players are we shooting for before starting this? And will the RP be running a parallel storyline to the books, or will they end up intertwining? Also, do you intend on introducing new villains or something of the sort if we end up squaring off against the forces of Galbatorix at some point? I ask because one rider and a bunch of scattered rebels vs the Empire is sort of an uphill battle, but throw in x amount of players as riders too and then things get thrown off balance just a bit. Or maybe I'm totally wrong about all of this, but I'm still curious.

Grendel "Gren" Kirk

Appearance:
Gren is a pale figure of slightly above average height with long, unstyled and unkempt chocolate brown hair. His one remaining eye is a mottled greyish green while a glass eye with a brown iris occupies the space of his left socket. His cheekbones are high and his collarbone is pronounced, while he has a somewhat long nose that curves downwards just slightly set above a pair of rather average looking lips.

Gren’s frame is more or less thin, with visible ribs, though he has enough meat on him. He lacks in muscle mass but is skilled at running and has a rather good endurance to boot. All of his teeth are slightly crooked, but not so much that seeing him smile is an unpleasant experience.

Personality:
Trying to pin down Grendel’s personality is like trying to say that the rainbow is only one color. He is an ambivert, often outspoken and comfortable within his circle of friends but finds trouble connecting with strangers. Gren despises most authority figures for reasons that no one can really seem to figure out. Maybe even for reasons he doesn’t know himself. Regardless, whenever someone attempts to dispute Gren’s point he need only bring up Galbatorix to end the debate.

He is also incredibly stubborn whenever he finds something that he really cares about, which isn’t often. Gren prefers logic to emotion which causes people to sometimes interpret him as cold and unfeeling. This however, is not the case. Grendel simply has trouble showing empathy. He still cares though. Usually. He is prone to anger in stressful situations. Gren is also rather philosophical at times, pondering all of the whats and whys of the world. He possesses a rather dark sense of humor and seems to feel enjoyment whenever seeing certain people suffer.

History:
Grendel Kirk’s first memory is that of getting stabbed in the face. The pain he can no longer recall, nor the reason as to why a two year old should have a fork gouged into his eyeball. He does however remember the who, and that the whole event made his father rather unpopular with the locals of Mashal. The man ended up fleeing into the woods and vanishing. Probably eaten by wolves or something.

His childhood after that point wasn’t really much better. His mother neglected him, leaving Gren to fend for himself more often than not. He learned at an early age that skills such as fire starting and trap making were essential for those lacking a proper parental figure in their lives. Grendel had and still does sleep outside most times a year, only entering into the homes of pitying individuals when the winter becomes a cold too bitter for even him to bear. At least nobody sticks forks in his eyes anymore.

Onam, like his rider, is incredibly rebellious and chafes under rules. He is often reckless, willing to put his life at stake on a daily basis to fight for what he believes in. This compliments Gren’s stubborn behavior, but also clashes with his typically logical state of mind. Fortunately, Onam values Gren’s word over his own in all but the most extreme of circumstances.

@Catchphrase Speaking of which, how can he tell that Mattias might be a wolf? When you say that Soldier might have a "hound" with them. He's still in the van at the time of that post and exhibits no outward behavior of being of a bestial nature. It IS a minor gripe, but I'm curious. I mean, you can't just "know" things.
