It's Fine But...

I just think it's funny how
all the people I used to know
that'd say things like
"I wish I lived in
more interesting times"
are awfully fucking quiet now.

@Sierra Hellooooo
@Mortarion You're all good friend! Roze and I still need to reconvene but in the meantime you know where to reach me here or on discord. I'm happy to answer your specific questions.
@Dr Catfish The character sheet dictates that any physical descriptions of the characters are meant to remain functional and utilitarian. My solution to you is this: choose an image first. Then every description you write of your character both within the dossier and in actual posts will be one hundred percent accurate.

We're actually also going to be requiring a sample post to accompany the dossier when submitting a character, something that shows what the character's life was like on earth and that is able to encapsulate their personality and mannerisms better than the brass tacks dossier would. There's nothing stopping you from including a more detailed description of your character there, in fact, that sounds like a good idea.

But as I said, if you have such great qualms with finding an image that exactly matches the character as you envision him or her, choose the picture first. I'd hate losing a potential player over something so small, after all! (And that last sentence rhymes so that must mean it speaks sense)

...

@ihinka Also apologies to you, I somehow missed your sheet last time, which is my bad! It seems on track from a quick glance, though I'll talk over it with Roze so that we may inform you and other interested parties what is and isn't a right direction.
@Dr Catfish@ihinka I actually knew somebody with that name before. Pronounced like Queeva.

Also, Mr. Dr. Catfish sir, I'm not so sure I understand how the inclusion of a single image would make or break your desire to partake in the roleplay, seems a little drastic to me.

But to answer your question, yes an image should be included.
@Dervish You may just be onto something with that. Hit me up about a 1x1 I was thinking of... ;)))))

@Banzai Tracers I will direct you to not one but two sections of the interest check that answer your question.

So! Welcome to this thing here. In case it wasn't obvious, you players are going to be the aforementioned brave and intrepid souls aboard the Sublimity as it carves its way through the stars. The two of us have done a small bit of worldbuilding regarding the state of Earth to get you guys going, but technology is more clearly defined with just a bit of wiggle room for creativity. Find information on that (and much more!) once the OOC gets put out. For now, we'll treat you lucky folk to some equally important information.

So there you have it, folks! Not counting us GMs, we'll be looking for a minimum of 6 players to begin, capping out at 12. Y'all have the option of submitting two characters total, though one is just fine. That won't be a factor that helps or hinders your chances of being accepted, obviously. As previously mentioned, stay tuned for that OOC with info on the tech as well as the state of the world. There is not, however, anything so significant as to prevent all of you from brainstorming characters, if that is your wish.

Pioneers, innovators, and souls both brave and intrepid... welcome. We here at Goldberch Tech have information of great magnitude to share with you. The brilliant minds behind our greatest undertaking yet have accomplished something revolutionary. They have designed and constructed a spacefaring vessel capable of safely transporting a large number of colonists to the distant goldilocks planet dubbed “Elysium”. It is no secret that in the year 2107 Goldberg Tech purchased this planet from the Mercantile Federation of America. It is also no secret that over the past five years, a special assignment has received both great attention and heavy funding. Now, in the year of 2112, we are ready to announce the true nature of this once closely guarded enterprise. We are ready to announce... Project Elysium. In late 2113, our vessel, the Sublimity, will take to the stars, with 5,000 passengers along for the ride. Goldberg Tech wants you, the most exceptional of your world, to join us. Pioneers, innovators, and souls both brave and intrepid... welcome to the future. Welcome to the birth of mankind’s single greatest achievement. Welcome to Project Elysium.

Congratulations, pioneer. You have been selected for what is undoubtedly the most important event to have ever occurred in human history. You will not only be a living and breathing witness to history as it unfurls, but you will be instrumental in ensuring the success of this great mission. Below you will find a brief set of guidelines laying out for you what to expect during your stay aboard the Sublimity.

General Rules

Standard guild rules apply. Remain respectful to your fellow roleplayers, and if you've got beef with them, take it out of the roleplay, or shoot us a PM regarding your issues. Saying that, trolling, insults, slurs, and the like will not be tolerated in either the OOC or the IC - unless you're in character. Just keep the OOC and IC worlds separated; your issues are not your characters, and vice versa.

It should go without saying that Mary/Gary-Sue characters or behaviour will not be allowed. This also includes meta-gaming, god-modding, and bunnying.

Please remember that this roleplay requires applications. Only post your characters in the characters tab once they've been accepted by either @MiddleEarthRoze or @BurningCold.

We will require a post in the IC at least every 7 days. If you require an extension please let us know in advance. This can be done via the OOC or by PM.

Failure to post in 7 days will result in a warning - doing it again will result in your character being removed from your power and given NPC status, though an opportunity to make another is available. Doing so a third time will lead to your expulsion from the roleplay. Please note that we will take this case by case, as sometimes you can't help being offline for a while without explanation.

Posting rules:

No coloured speech, links to visual aids/music, or pictures of your character.

As an advanced roleplay, correct grammar and spelling is required. Typos here and there won't be an issue, but we won't allow constant mistakes. Please also avoid pointless filler sentences, and be sure to write something substantial and worth reading. We don't need half a paragraph dedicated to your character going up a set of stairs (Yes, I've seen that before.) - make sure your writing has a point to it, be it character interaction, impacting the story, or even inner monologue-ing.

If you're having a conversation with someone(s), make it into a collab so you're not clogging up the IC.

Do be aware, as a final note, that this RP won't be shying away from vulgar language, violence, or dark themes. Don't be gratuitous though! We're all here to enjoy ourselves, no reason why that luxury can't extend to our characters as well sometimes.

Toodles for now!
@Chicken Life got in the way this time, unfortunately. I'll have to pull out of this one.

Best of luck!
@Chicken I was considering developing a toxicology proficiency for this character of mine, so, some more questions if that's alright.

While I'm sure there are flora and fauna within your world that also exist within ours, are there plants and animals present in your game that would be otherworldly to us, but seem mundane to those populating the Aldaric Sea region and beyond? And either way, what is the dispersion of these organisms like across the world?
@Chicken So I've been hashing and rehashing character concepts for a little while, and for the past few days I've been chipping away at the one I want to go with. I did have confusion regarding certain proficiencies, however, specifically the medical ones.

Expertise:
Anatomy
Medicine

Skills:
Healing
Herbalism

Now I'm just a bit confused here as to how these proficiencies are technically unique from one another. There's just a great deal of overlap between all four. It makes me wonder, if someone proficient in anatomy, medicine, and herbalism, is useless if he isn't proficient in healing. Alternatively, is someone with the healing proficiency unable to make use of that skill without an understanding of herbalism or medicine or anatomy?
