So by the fact it's been 11 days since my post with nobody else stepping up, I have to assume that this RP is dead? If a couple of people still linger and want to continue i'm well up for it.
@Cerces22 Your character seems fine. Move it on over.
@Cerces22@Walulululuigi as for battles you can do them pretty much however you want. The standard idea would be that the winner is pre-determined(pm me and I’ll happily flip a coin) or if both agree, use showdown. However if pairs agree to RP it out then I have zero problem with that. Obviously if you showdown it you’ll still need to RP the battle.
Leo led Marcus to the bar, talking as they did so. "So just to give you a bit of background about me and this place, I moved to Sol when I was eighteen. I just had to start fresh and make my life my own. I love my family and all but I just wanted to be able and turn around and say, this is my life." They reached the bar and Sully made his way behind to pour the pair a couple of pints. Steve his faithful and trusty head of security got up from his stool and nodded to his boss. "I'm off now boss," he said in his deep, earthshaking voice. "No problem Steve. Just before you go, this is Marcus. He's here about the vacancy." Steve raised an eye brow and got close up to Marcus' face. He rubbed at his rugged chin before standing back up straight. "Seem's...small. Does he know karate or something?" Leo rubbed at the bridge of his nose letting out a deep sigh. "He's to work the bar Steve...Jesus Christ." Steve arched his back as he laughed heartily at his mistake. "Sorry pal." His bear paw sized palm hit Marcus in the back as he tried to apologise. "Hopefully see you around soon...and good luck." Steve nodded at Leo once more and left.
Leo looked up at Marcus as he finished pouring the second of two pints. "Sorry about him. He's a bit of an oaf at times but he's good at what he does and has a heart of gold." With the two drinks in hand Leo gestured over to a nearby booth for the pair to sit in. "So anyway...this place came about after many many hours overtime working multiple jobs. I basically lived off rice for several years, being sure not to waste a penny. Eventually I had saved enough, combined with a bank loan of course, to afford this place." Taking a seat in the booth Leo placed both pints on the table and took a seat. He extended his hand out towards the opposite side telling Marcus to sit.
"Things were slow at first but after several spam posts on social media and passing out flyers, the metal crowd soon found out about it. Having a few big bands in certainly helped but for the most part they were just glad to have a place to hang out." Leo took a gulp from his drink, wiping the foam from around his mouth. Taking out his phone he glanced down to read a message from Dusty. "The whole purple gothic vibe came later when my brother visited. He's always had a knack for interior design and offered to draw up some sketches. What you see around you is what he came up with." With phone still in hand he quickly typed a reply back to Dusty before looking back up to Marcus.
"Anyway...that's enough about me. I don't want to bore you anymore," he said with a wide smile on his face. "Tell me about yourself Marcus. Just who exactly is Marcus Ainsworth?" He kept his welcoming grin on his face, hoping that Marcus would tell him all about himself. He was very much a fan of knowing your employees on a personal level rather than just being their boss.
Hometown: Snowpoint City, Sinnoh Height: 5’11” Weight: 160lbs Occupation: Viridian City Gym Leader Likes: Teaching, kendo, reading Dislikes: Arrogance, hot summer days, unnecessary haste Talents: Swordfighting, weather forecasting, and dice games Personality: Usually quite composed, Quilo nevertheless has a charming and polite personality that has made him if not popular in Viridian City, certainly respected in the town known as the entrance to the Indigo League. He's quite fond of the local children, and is employed part-time as a tutor at the Viridian Pokémon Academy. His careful, precise manner helps many of the children, though he credits most of the improvements to his calm, patient teaching environment; outdoors on the grass. He adopts a similar attitude to challengers who enter his gym; while his gym attendants gain his mentoring, he will advise and praise challengers while teaching them to trust their Pokémon. He also personally greets challengers, even though he is required to wait for them to make his way through the gym before battling him. He likes mints. Background: From the cold city of Snowpoint in Sinnoh, Quilo’s parents joke his affinity for ice pokemon came from being born in a snowdrift. Certainly he spent a lot of time playing with the swinub and snorunt that wander through the town, and his first capture was a snorunt who had taken to following the little boy around. Young Quilo quickly showed his affinity for Pokémon, though average at most other subjects. That changed when his family moved to Kanto; the disruption sent his grades tumbling for several months until he earned a scholarship from the Indigo League. This helped him find his focus again, and he went 7 of 8 in his pokemon league challenge. His natural talent with ice pokemon led to an apprenticeship with former Elite Four Lorelei, whereafter he was appointed to the Viridian Gym. Renovating the gym to its new ice type theme, he's set about guarding the “entrance to Victory Road” with aplomb ever since. He hands out the “Blizzard Badge”, a redesign of the Earth Badge that resembles snowflakes on a crescent rather than the feather of the older badge. An ongoing debate between his and Pewter City's gym is which is considered the first gym in the Kanto League; officially, this remains Pewter City, despite perceptions. Pokemon:
Nub, a Mamoswine. Ability, Snow Cloak. Moves: Earthquake, Ice Fang, Ancient Power, Hail. (First of Quilo’s Pokémon, and still his favourite. The two of them often rest together in the gym, and Nub carries Quilo when he needs to visit people.)
Lora, a Lapras. Ability: Shell Armour. Moves: Ice Beam, Sheer Cold, Perish Song, Brine. (A gift from his mentor, and named after her, Lora enjoys sleeping in ponds around Viridian City. During school holidays, she lets children play around and on her back, despite the thinness of her shell)
Haze, a Froslass. Ability, Snow Cloak. Moves: Blizzard, Draining Kiss, Shadow Ball, Double Team. (Haze is affectionate. When she was a snorunt, this was cute. Now that she can move through walls, it's often startling and sometimes terrifying. Haze doesn't notice this.)
Katana, an Alolan Sandslash. Ability, Snow Cloak. Moves: Icicle Spear, Metal Claw, Brick Break, Hone Claws. (Serious and focused, Katana was smuggled into Kanto by poachers. He was brought to Quilo in the hopes he would recover from the trauma in a familiar environment. While he's still not entirely friendly, Katana has calmed enough to train with Quilo’s kendo class.)
Flurry, an Alolan Ninetales. Ability, Snow Cloak. Moves: Dazzling Gleam, Double Team, Ice Shard, Frost Breath (While Katana became sullen and vicious, Flurry’s experience left her shy and skittish. Haze’s affection has helped her recover somewhat, and she occasionally participates in gym battles as she regains her confidence)
Austram, an Aurorus. Ability: Snow Warning. Moves: Freeze-Dry, Ancient Power, Frost Breath, Hail. (Aloof and regal, Austral stands as the tallest of Quilo’s Pokémon. He cares little for people other than his trainer, but will play disciplinarian when the rest of the team gets too boisterous. Most people who interrupt his almost-constant browsing on the nearby Viridian Forest get pushed aside with his tail.)
While Quilo relies on his personal Pokémon during battles with appropriately skilled trainers, not all of his challengers have their seven gym badges. For that reason, he keeps weaker teams around for weaker challengers. They can include:
Looking good. All i'd suggest is putting a line space between each part of the CS, just makes it look a bit cleaner. Also ideally i'd like him to have a full name (first and last). Apart from that he looks good and quite happily accepted.
I can reduce moves, that's not an issue! With Ninetails, we already have examples of pokemon using moves that they're normally weak against - Rydon being able to use Surf is the perfect example in my mind. I can change it, it just seemed very flavourful for the character.
I had forgotten about that. Feel free to keep it then .
I have now added my CS to the character tab if anyone wants to take a look. When you post your CS's over don't worry about using hiders, i'll be providing direct links in the CS pages 0th post.
Also for awareness i've added a new rule that you will need to be aware of. No mega evolutions or z moves exist in this version of the world. Personally i'm not a fan of either and so would like to avoid them being used.
