Bio

Hey, there. Myst here, as you've probably guessed. Can't exactly write in other people's bios, can you? But, you're probably reading this for a reason, so I'll get to it.

I prefer high-Casual and Advanced games, in a medieval, fantasy or sci-fi setting, because that's the sort of nerd I am.

I'm a thinker - I've thought a lot on certain things, and am firm in my beliefs. So you could ask me what I thought about a good few things and I could give a well-reasoned answer. Or a less reasoned answer based on my morals.

TheCharactersOfMyst - This is my storage for past and present characters, and where I might occasionally go for nostalgia and/or recycling a character I've used before.

What's a Codex?

A codex is an ancient manuscript in text book form.
@Kymera You win a rolled up newspaper! Attack: 0.5, Durability: 3, Range: 0. Use it for all your fly swatting needs!

@Eisenhorn It will track every illicit detail... and also how many progeny you spawn in the process.
@Bazmund Is that fifth one mine? I'm still sorta-working on it, for reasons we've discussed in pms. Second backstory write, too.
Gameplay

Actions you take in-world may well affect it. While it may not have an affect on the overall plot, it will change how certain characters react to you. While no current plans are in place for how particular actions will change it, that is because part of it must be written as we go.

Renown: 0

Nobody knows you.

Infamy: 0

You're... respectable.

Status: 0

You have little sway in even minor circles.

NPC Reactions

NPCs may change state depending on the above point systems, or through actions taken around them. Certain NPC actions can also affect the world depending on how the gladiators react.

Combat

In combat, all players must post at least once before the battle can proceed, and all posts generally can only take roughly six seconds of 'time'. This is to keep things synchronised, so to speak. Essentially it turns into a turn-based system for the duration of a fight, but more focused on narrative than on statistics. You can also choose to take hits from opponents if you wish, but I may also take action as a DM.

Resources

Currently, everything for the group will be coming out of Endar's pocket, but in the future, once the team's earned some prize money, they'll be using that, to buy better equipment, pay for lodging and transport, so on and so forth.

NPCs

There will be several types of non-player characters in the RP. They are listed below.

Minor NPCs;
These NPCs can be generated by any player (at an appropriate moment, of course). Once Chapter 1 begins, every player can create and/or use these NPCs, and so long as they do not change their attitude, write them as they see fit. This can be a merchant, drinking buddy, or a guard of no significance to the plot.

Major NPC;
A recurring character, featuring in one or more chapters, and despite similarities, main characters aren't NPCs. Major NPCs are unchanging in creed and motivation. You can have them respond to things in your posts, but you'll need to run what they say and do by the GM.

Backstory NPC;
A player-specific NPC who may appear in locations relevant to the player's main character - but, they must have met the PC at some point in the past. Backstory NPCs are chosen at the GM's discretion, but you can apply for one if you would like. Depending on how involved they are with your character, they will be played by you, or by the GM.

Opponent;
Opponents are anyone you face in battle. They won't really be very detailed but are capable of defeating your character if you're not careful. However, as long as you are indeed careful, it's unlikely.

Adversary;
Functionally the same as an Opponent, they may have significance to the story and can be dangerous foes. If you are to fight them, depending on the situation, the odds will be even, against you, or in your favour. Surviving intact will require quick IC thinking.

Nemeses;
A Nemesis is an adversary who plays a very important part of the current chapter. They are played by the GM, though some may have been stolen inspired from Player Character backstories.

Races

The peoples of Areth have spread far and are incredibly varied. Many have developed their own cultures - you could walk from east to west and not find two places exactly alike. Detailed below are the many intelligent races you might encounter on a journey through Areth.

Humans:
Humans are the foremost race in the Five Realms, and you'll come across more of them than you will any other - though, that's mostly due to the Beasts living in more untamed areas.

Minotaurs:

Goblins:

Shades:

There are currently only three shades in existence - Warlock Grimoire, Lord Vestal Vanimore, and Lady Vestal Jessica
