OOC is Live!
http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/138980-the-gamer-squad-escape-the-mainframe/ooc

To answer your question Peaceless, we each choose a certain video game that we gain our main skills/abilities from, but we'll also be appropriately equipped for each Game World, for example, in an old version of this rp, my character specialized in shooters, specifically Gears of War, and he could utilize any weapon from that series, that ability would be more than a little OP in Games like Dark Souls or Zelda, where melee combat is the norm, so that ability would be locked off and I would be instead equipped with a sword.
A group of college-aged friends gather in an apartment. Summer has finally come around, and rather then head to the beach, go outside or do anything boring like that, the first day of summer vacation begins with what they consider to be the best thing in the world: A VIDEO GAME MARATHON!

Busting out the NES, Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, Gameboys, PSP, Dreamcast, N64, DS, Playstations, Xboxes, and their Laptops, these friends are ready for the greatest week-long tournament of the champions, to see which one among them is the ultimate gamer! Loaded with a couple kegs of beer, energy drinks, pop, chips, and enough delivery pizza to choke a Ninja Turtle, these gamer guys and gals are ready for anything... Except what happened next.

The lights go out, and I mean everything. TV's, laptops, handheld games, even the sunlight peeping through the curtains. Everything goes dark. An old CRT in the corner powers on, the low-grey glow becoming the lone source of light. It suddenly begins to grow brighter and brighter, until a blinding flash of light from this old television becomes a vortex, a portal to another world, that sucks the gamers inside, bringing them to a place that none of them could have possibly imagined- The Mainframe, a digital realm where fact becomes fiction, and fiction becomes fact. Upon their arrival, they learn of a grave threat to our world, a viral scourge called The Default who have taken over the system and have designs on accessing the DataCore, the central processing unit of both the Mainframe and the Earth's internet. The only way to stop them and return home is by travelling into the Game Realms that make up the network of Mainframe, defeat the Default-infected Bosses, and gather mystical artifacts that together make up the access code to the DataCore.

Armed with the power of their chosen game mastery and ready to face this gauntlet of game worlds before them, The Gamer Squad steps forward as the Title Screen comes up, playing an epic pixel tune, preparing them for the awesomeness that lays ahead. A sole option appears on the massive door before them, containing the portals to the game worlds:

So, as you've probably guessed by the little overview I've written up, this RP will centre around a group of gamers who are pulled into a video game and must defeat the many evil Bosses in order to escape. Think something along the lines of "Captain N: The Game Master" or "ReBoot"
This will combine elements from our favorite gaming companies (Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, SEGA, Capcom, ect) and our favorite game series (Super Mario, Little Big Planet, Halo, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mega Man, and more!) This will be a very relaxed and comedic RP (although we'll definitely have to get serious at certain points), where the characters simply try to interact with the worlds around them and most likely get into all kinds of jams (ex. In the Kirby world they would argue over killing the adorable enemies, while the Call of Duty or Halo world would reluctantly pit them against each other in a randomly generated death battle). Some worlds will change them and allow them upgraded versions of their gear (ex. Going to Skyrim will make all the equipment more medieval based, while landing on Planet Zebes will force the weapons and armor to get as futuristic as humanly possible)

So, let the games begin!

RULES
1. No GMing. We don't want any Mary-Sues or Gary-Sues
2. Maximum of 3 Active Characters per person. Any more needs approval by a GM
3. Characters can and WILL die, but please ASK somebody before you attempt to kill their character rather then just say "Your guy is dead."
4. Keep it PG-13!! Romance and Lovey-Dovey stuff is fine, as well as the occasional innuendo, but take smut scenes to PM, please. Also, violence is allowed, but please don't rip out a guys entrails and hold them above his head while he slowly dies. We're not monsters (well, not all of us)
5. If you got this far, here's a cookie *hands cookie*. Also, include the name of the first game you remember playing in your "Other" section so I know who's read the rules (anecdotes about first game are also welcome)
6. Please make PvP combat fair (if the need for it arises). It really sucks when somebody unleashes their ultimate power and freezes the other person's foot to the floor, then proceed to just punch the crap out of their immobile opponent. In addition, GM moves will NOT be allowed inside PvP combat unless approved/announced in a GM event.
7. Enjoy the RP to the best of your ability!!

CHARACTER SHEET
Name:
Nickname: (optional)
Appearance: (Description or image. Feel free to include their normal look and what they may look like in their Game Master Outfit)
Gender/Age:
Gamer Title: (Like a Gamertag or Steam name that the Game system recognizes as your character)
Chosen Game Mastery: (Mario, LBP, Final Fantasy, ect. Your selected game mastery will define your powers/abilities. An example would be if you picked Mario, you could jump higher then other characters and be able to adopt the various jobs Mario has gotten in the past, but you won't be able to use weapons like somebody who chose Zelda. Also, try to avoid having similar/the same game masteries as other characters. One Game Master per series, please ^^)
Game Master Abilities: (Up to 3 passive abilities that act as buffs for yourself/the team, up to 3 active abilities (with limitations) these can be anything from summoning weapons to providing a temporary damage boost, whatever makes sense for your chosen Game Mastery. All Game Master Abilities may not be usable in every game world.)
Background:
Other: (include any additional information you want. Maybe a catchphrase that your character says, or their favorite video game)

Lastly, I will be taking suggestions for the types of Game Worlds we'll be visiting, so if you have any ideas, let me know!
@Erklings25@Peaceless

Still accepting!

Interested in joining, you want my CS here first for approval or placed in the character tab?

Plotting a fire manipulator/combustion inducer
A new threat to Galactic peace rises, and we're powerless to stop it.... or are we?

The Galaxy has been in a state of relative peace for some time now, but a spate of recent events committed by a supposedly faceless group threatens to thrust the galaxy in a state of civil war. With the Council sidelined by bureaucracy and the Spectres similarly landlocked by politics, we turn to our most dreaded option. An off-the-books task force is being assembled to deal with the threat in every way the legal authorities can't. To avoid suspicion, the group makeup is 90% criminals, mercenaries, and people who, on principle, don't play well with others. With a retired Spectre at the helm, this has all the makings to be quite an adventure.

Hey everyone. While the Suicide Squad movie seems to be a dud (going off the reviews at least) I still really enjoy the idea of bad guys being forced to do a little bit of good, so I figured why not translate that kind of story into the Mass Effect universe? Worked for ME2 after all, although this will definitely be taking a different story route than 'the Reapers did it'. The only thing undecided yet is when the rp will be set (before, during, or after the events of the games) I'll be leaving that to a vote before we get going.
Hope this is still going ahead @TJByrum !
@TJByrum

Awesome, I'll get to work on my characters. I may be taking a trip with some friends this weekend, but I'll find the time to log on and post em. As for roles they could play, the psychotic gunman could be the weapons expert, and the robot could really fill any role thats left once the others pick theirs he could be a pilot, tech expert, intel gathering, or engineer. Whatever's most needed
@TJByrum

Super interested in this.

I had an idea for a pair of characters if you were open to it- A gun for hire with something akin to a split personality disorder, and his partner in crime- a no-nonsense robot/cyborg who is. For some reason or another, (no one's really sure why) the two are inseparable from each other, despite the fact they can barely stand each other.
