Current I know I said I'd be back tonight but it turns out I have a lot of post-vacation life stuff to catch up on. Apologies to everyone waiting on a reply--I'll get them out before the end of the week!

Will be out of town from tomorrow until Monday--going to go try and through my threads tonight and update what I can, but after that will likely be silent for a few days.

The guard Molly hugged nearly goes for his weapon, but before he can move more than a hair the Pasha rests their delicate fingers on his arm in a staying gesture; the large man tenses for a second, clearly uncomfortable with the situation, but makes no further moves towards violence.

(The other guard eyes Ijin. His too-knowing gaze rest on the xeno's face, then his rifle, and something in the man's expression changes. Both Ijin and Quintus have seen enough combat to know what it is--he's just dismissed the sniper as a threat.)

The pasha moves past their bodyguard and smiles at Cho-Tyrek, then up at Quintus. For his part, the former assassin says nothing, nor does he make any attempt to resist.

(When the Pasha looks away, though, he does turn his head back towards Quintus. Just for a moment.)

"Your payment, yes, of course." Arlox holds up a hand to someone behind them without looking, and an elderly man in robes similar to (though not nearly as fine as) the Pasha walks up holding a briefcase. He shuffles forward, then holds it out and opens up the latch and presents its contents: neatly stacked rows of Hegemonic cred-sticks. From the looks of things, it's all there.

The old man closes the case, then hands it off and shuffles back behind the Pasha. That worthy spreads their hands. "It's a pleasure doing business with professionals, but unfortunately I cannot ask you to stay for tea. The longer I remain in this system the more likely it becomes that my fellow Knives will be able to prove I was involved in this little excursion into their territory." They waved a hand airly. "Which they surely already know, but knowing and proving are very different things. I trust that I will be able to count on your discretion." It's a statement, not a question, and Arlox doesn't wait for an answer before retreating back into their ship, flanked by a portion of the airlock's guard detail.

You can roll Perception, but I will also need an Arcana check.

Well, none of that was great. Perception is a 13, Arcana is a 5.
Allyn stopped just inside the gates of the cemetery, meeting the dead stone eyes of one of the gargoyles from a distance. It didn't react--of course--but he spent a long moment examining it, from its fang-filled snarl to the sharp talons with which it gripped its perch. The whole aesthetic was very different from the cemeteries he had seen growing up. Those had always felt like... not nice places, per se, but places of quiet conte mplation, where on a fall day like this a parent might take their child to witness the blessing of the tombs.

He had a hard time imagining any children coming here.

The office, thankfully, wasn't far, and Allyn headed over. First things first was to get the money--and the letter that would presumably enumerate his duties for the night. With any luck, they would be mostly perfunctory, and he could spend a few quiet hours working on his research.

I will say that even though the dust is gone, now that the stuffed cat is no longer a threat, there are other things Gabriel, Aurora, and Rearden can take.

For now…
Is there anything else you would like to do in the Study? I’ll let you post among yourselves for now before I make another DM post for a different location or object interaction. ^_^

I would like to make some kind of roll to determine what's going on with this wall face situation. Can I argue for Perception?
<Snipped quote by ctrlsaltdel>

Oh wow, that research roll! Critical success! When you roll the highest number on a die (Ace!), you get to roll that die again, and again until you stop Acing. Every 4 above the target number is a "Raise". Succeeding with a Raise imparts further benefits (such as dealing extra damage on a combat roll).

Ah, fully forgot about the exploding dice--another roll of 4 brings the total to 10.

EDIT: I'm assuming I did that right? IIRC I get to take either the main die or the extra d6, so presumably only one of those max rolls counts.
Alright, I'm glad this has gotten so much interest so quickly. I'm going to leave this open for about another week to see who else is interested; ideally I'd like to run this with four people, but if we still only have three come next Tuesday, I'm happy moving forward with that. In the meantime, if you have character concepts you'd like feedback on, feel free to drop those here and we can discuss.

(bonus meme because I'm still watching Zeta Gundam)
That's a 5 to Notice, and a 6 to Research.
He stood at the entrance of the trail for a minute, just looking at the point where the path faded into the forest. He'd had some time to think since that morning, and the more he thought about it, the more rancid the vibes of this whole thing seemed. When he'd been thinking on it during breakfast, he'd chalked a lot of that up to having been away for over twenty-four hours straight.

Now, he'd had a solid seven hours of sleep, and the can of Red Bull in his hand was empty, and he was starting to feel a twisting in his stomach that had nothing to do with caffeine.

But there was no way he was backing down now. Even if the money weren't on the line, people were acting too weird about this graveyard for him not to at least check it out.

Would he see that woman there?

Allyn shook his head, as if he were shrugging off a fly. He stuffed his hands deep in the pockets of his jacket--one hand touching the knife he carried, more for reassurance than anything--and set off down the trail.
