As the other new adventurers crowded the tavern, Nimr stuck to the walls, mostly taking in his current location. It was a tavern much different in structure, but with a similar tone to his family’s inn. Nimr would lead himself to believe the tavern itself could use some of his own personal touch to make more lively. At the same time, however, he would also have to take account for the fact that this is also an extension of the Adventurer’s Guild, as well. In any case, the green-haired boy reached for his hi-

“It's time to shut the fuck up!”

Nimr’s attention was quickly drawn to the woman as she made her announcement. Quickly the bard-to-be was enthralled by her assertive, serious nature. Perhaps it was because he never had a strict maternal figure in his life. Indeed, the Dilapitared Duck was a far-cry from the inn he was raised in, but the atmosphere was still nostalgic enough to remind him of his mother. Whatever it was, Nimr would find himself quite enamored by this tavern’s guildmaster. He began to think of possibilities where he would finally settle down aa a true bard...

Maybe when I establish myself more, I could approach her for a business partnership, yes?

"... Stand forth and declare yourself, and let that be the first step towards having your name etched into the heavens above!"

Nimr’s trance was broken with a haughty, younger woman’s announcement. Nimr was reminded fully of the reason he was here at all; to sign up for his first adventure. He was also reminded that he could not get a job on his own, especially given how lacking his own skillset is. The party, however, looked pretty solid, so far. It was an especially good opportunity for Nimr, himself, given how an already sizable group was looking for more members.

”Strong of arm and keen of eye is what you were looking for, yes?” Nimr approached the group rather casually with a soft smile on his face. ”I only have one of those things, but perhaps some of my other talents may interest you? If you require someone with roguish talents, however, then I shall throw my hat into the ring.”

With a modest bow, albeit with something of a flourish, Nimr drew his flute. It was a rather strange looking instrument, but it seemed compact and sturdy enough for days worth of travel. Standing straight up with a smile, Nimr flashed a brighter smile, both to his possible allies, as well as to the guildmaster.

”Nimr. While I do have plans to become a bard, my skills can also serve this party in a similar way a rogue’s can. And if this party requires its funds to be managed, I can also aide in that regard.”

I feel like if we’re limiting spells per day, they should also have effects more profound than non-spell skills while also not overshadowing them! That does sound hard, tho...

To be honest, it's mostly just so we can deposit and trade memes, but I do find that it helps organize everyone more. That said, if not everyone uses it, then I think we can make do without it.

As far as posting now goes, I just came from a wedding reception, so if I don't fall asleep in the next hour, I think I might try slipping a post in since I got a wave of inspiration!

Seventeen, but do not let my youth worry you. You can trust me with your funds, yes?

What do you wish to be?

I would like to be a bard, though it would far be too early for that. For now, a rogue will do. It is the job where I am expected to oversee the party's wealth, yes?

What are your skills?

I'd say I'm particularly talented in playing the flute. If I am to become a bard, I must know how to play an instrument, yes? Aside from that, I would also say I am well-read in the subjects of economics and mercantilism. Finding the worth and value in objects is quite compelling.

What is in your inventory?

The most notable item that I keep with me is my ebony flute. It was my mother's, and whenever it is played, I feel as if she is with me. As an adventurer, I also carry a short sword as a means of protecting myself. Sure, it may appear a bit banged up, but I was able to fetch it at a good price! If not, I wouldn't also have been able to afford a standard adventurer's kit, as well.

What are you like? What do people think of you?

I'm afraid that would be a tough question to answer. I'm not the one to pay attention to how people see me. Perhaps I should start trying though, since I'm a bard, yes? I do believe I'm easygoing, and I have never had an argument with someone that has extended to any harsh words, though I wouldn't count the times I had to deal with the occasional inebriated guest. Some say I'm quite humble, a statement I rightly disagree with. If anything, I enjoy finding ways to increase my wealth while reducing my workload. Some would call this behavior "cheap" or "lazy," while I would prefer the term "economic."

Oh, you want to know how I feel about music? To be honest, I've never looked too much into the world of the arts aside from the things I've learned from my mother as well as from one of the many traveling musicians that come to my family's inn. That said, I believe what separates me from other bards- or in this case, would-be bards- is how linear my appreciation for music is. To tell you the truth, I've only chosen to pursue this path because I believe it would bring me close to my mother, in some way. She always believed that her own music was the sound of her soul, and I wish to experience that feeling, myself. Plus, being famous sounds like a very cost-efficient way to make a living, yes?

What are your life experiences? How did you grow up?

I wouldn't say my life is particularly noteworthy. I was raised in a rather homely hamlet. My father was an innkeeper and my mother was a musician who played in this inn. Despite my humble beginnings, I was raised rather comfortably, considering that the inn itself kept itself rather busy since our home village was between two popular trading routes. I was also kept educated from the countless assortment of guests we've received from all around the world. When I was younger, I never really had a passion or drive for anything, though I was attached to my mother, her soothing melodies keeping me spellbound on otherwise restless nights. You could say it was quite a shock when she had abruptly left our lives, though...

... No, she didn't die, I don't believe. I was too young to remember the finer details, but I do recall her disappearing one night, having taken a pair of clothes and some of our inn's food with her. I found it quite odd for her to do, especially since she left her flute with me, as well. According to my father, they had a great relationship, so it was a shock to him when she had just gone up and left. In any case, the inn's business felt a lot slower without my mother around to play her music. Of course, geographically, we were still in a sound place for business, but our morale, and my father's motivation, specifically, began to plummet.

Of course, when I reached my teens, I took a more active role in helping business stay afloat. It all started when I found a business ledger one of the merchants visiting our inn left in his room. I'm sure that many others in my age would find such a book filled with numbers quite boring, but I found myself compelled! I was rather amazed at how efficient this particular merchant was, and how he raised or cut the prices on certain products based on intricacies such as supply and demand. Perhaps at that point, I was also interested in how high the numbers were looking, as well. In any case, after doing a bit more reading into our own inn's finances as well as making some idle conversation with other traveling merchants here and there, I managed to pick up an eye for managing finances. During those last few years growing up, I helped my father with managing the inn's revenue and keeping the money flowing steadily. I'm sure if I stayed longer and had more years of experience under my belt, I could have expanded our family's business to greater lengths.

If that were the case, why did I leave? Well, I still desired to find my mother, after all... and I do admit, the stories I've heard of the world beyond have brought great interest to me. You can find so much more business opportunities roaming the world, yes?
