Konohagakure, The Village Hidden in the Leaves, is a village of one of the Five Great Shinobi Countries. Konoha has been enjoying relative peace and stability as has the greater shinobi world. This year Konoha has the honor of hosting the Chunin Exams, an opportunity for genin to be promoted to chunin. It is a showcase of up-and-coming ninjas to the world, as well as a showing of the top talents from each village.
Before the start of the Chunin Exams the ninjas of Konoha are preparing their village to ensure the safety of all who are attending, prepping their genin, and dotting their i's and crossing their t's on missions one final time.
As young genin, ready to prove their worth, each shinobi is ready and willing to do what it takes to win.The premise of this roleplay is to be a team as we begin from the Chunin Exams to full-fledged ninjas, living their life however they see fit.
Again, starting out we'll be genin then we'll move onto the later ranks as time progresses. This isn't first come, first serve, as I want to give everyone the same amount of respect. Characters will be picked depending on cohesion and team dynamics, also dedication too.
I'm looking for partners who are willing to stick it through, I'm not expecting daily posts because god knows I can't even do it. At the least, weekly posts is what I'm aiming for and will also be expecting THREE to FOUR paragraphs. Lengths of paragraphs are dependent on each writer.
If you're still interested, you can use this character sheet.
Let me know if there's anything I need to work on or fix!
DASHIELL "DASH" MILLER
twenty-eight - gemini - eight grade english teacher - five feet, eleven inches - dustin milligan
“This is a good time to question everything.”
Appearance Details
Currently flaunting a scruffy, unshaven face and a head of messy, tossed dirty blonde hair. Staggering with a frame of five feet and eleven inches, Dash has lost his beer gut that came along with the rest of his teacher physique for a more aesthetic look (all thanks to the cardio training the zombies bring when you're running for your life). These days his fashion is less patterned button ups and ties for a more neutral look with solid colored shirts, sweaters, and a pair of jeans or chinos.
Characterization
Before the world went to hell, Dash was a pretty simple-minded man. He lived life as easily as possible, following the straight and narrow, cutting corners when it made sense but for the most part never diverting the path before him. Known for being a kindhearted teacher who ruled the classroom with respect and lighthearted fun, he carried that over into the dark aftermath of the zombie outbreak. He does his best to keep his levelheadedness, but remembering that since the world isn't what it used to be, he needs to be more realistic with his choices, knowing that every step he take could really be his last.
Dash was born and raised in Rushford, never expressing a desire to really see any other part of the world. He attended the University of Dayton, earning a degree in Adolescence to Young Adult Education, where he went through the rites of passage of college. Dash partied, he broke hearts, had his heart broken a few times, studied abroad for a semester at the request of his mother, and even ended up on the local news for running a charity 5K for one of his friend's cancer treatment. After college, Dash returned to Rushford and got a job at the local middle school where he had attended growing up. His life was simple, he worked during the days, drank with his friends on his off hours and the weekends, and attended family dinners where his mother attempted to play match-maker with the locals he knew all too well and where his father nagged him about his complacency in life. Now with the world having flipped upside down, Dash was in an ever-changing stage of life that wasn't as simple as he was used to, having to change himself with the times.
Inventory
- Journal: A notebook full of notes and letters to keep a bit of constant sanity in his life. - Pocket knife: A simple pocketknife, to be honest isn't as useful as you'd think, more for a show of intimidation. - Flashlight: A solar powered flashlight, dimly lights up, but lasts long periods of time.
Location: Littleroot Town — Inside of Professor Birch's Lab
Surprised by Yuu's choice of not grabbing a starter from Professor Birch, Soren contemplated even more for his own choice. He was confident in his and Dash's abilities and he wanted to prove to Lachlan that he could start over in a new region, with a new team, and succeed this time around. Nodding his head confidently, Soren made his decision. "I'll have to pass as well. Dash and I have a lot to prove this time around."
Professor Birch's warm laughter filled the room yet again, smiling from ear to ear. "You two have great spirit! Joshua, grab another Pokedex."
Bowing with gratefulness, Soren took the Pokedex and following suit to Yuu. "Thank you!"
Location: Littleroot Town — Inside of Pokemon Center
The trainers found themselves in the lobby of the Littleroot Pokemon Center, brandishing their new Pokedexes. "I owe you," Soren said cheerfully. "If it wasn't for you, Dash and I would still be lost in the woods."
His smile was glowing as he was exploring his new dex and the apps that came with it, excited to see what new discoveries he'd make in Hoenn. "The closest gym is in Petalburg City, so that's where I'll be heading to next, but from what I can tell from this map, it's quite a bit away. What's your next plan?"
I saw her! I skimmed the CS as I'm trying to give everyone the same treatment in terms of deciding (if there is any other interest). I think how you did your CS is fine, since I never specifically said if it had to be a child character or an adult, so a first draft or whatnot is totes fine with me as this is still the IC and not yet the actual thread!
When would this setting take place? Before/during/after the events of the series? Is the series even relevant or will this be more of an alternate timeline/world sorta deal?
This would be in a more AU timeline.
Are the canon characters/clans/events a thing or nah?
Clans yes.
Which village will this be focused around?
Konoha, since it's the one I know most about.
What kinda power level should we be aiming for? Like for example, let's say we went with option 1. These Genin taking the exams, should they be on par with Naruto and the gang during the Chuunin Exam arc? Or more like the Genin from Boruto? Or even Kakashi and the boys during the war?
I would say it's open in terms of skills. I mean, as a child, sure there are some prodigies, but not all of us are one. Some of us are just average or above average kids at best. I'm looking for characters who seem realistic to the pacing, not just someone who is wanting to be OP from the get-go, if that makes sense.
What sort of expectations do you have for post pacing or length?
I always aim and expect at least three solid paragraphs. Thing is, paragraphs can be varying lengths in sentences, so depends on each writer. But 3 paragraphs is what I'll set if we need a hard requirement.
I will S C R E E C H if this turns out like Boruto
I haven't seen Boruto, so no promises that it won't turn out like it, since whatever I do know about it is from the wiki pages.
