@Willy Vereb After looking at the info you posted here and in Discord I have decided that your argument is with merit and that am willing to chalk up the weapons in your sheet as you 'interpreting the rule as a countermeasure to rapid firing weapons and thus not viewing conventional crossbow designs incorporating pumps or levers as actually breaking the intent of the rule'. This interpretation was, in fact, correct (in that I wanted to prevent rapid firing weapons) and I take the blame for rashly implementing a poorly thought out rule and further writing it in a confusing manner.
I will be rewriting the rule to make it clearer sometime tonight. I am not quite sure what it'll entail exactly, but will probably follow the lines of "Don't have rapid firing weapons." Very likely the rule change will also include a lifting of the ban on pump-actions and lever-actions, but I won't promise that at this time.
@Willy Vereb Honestly I am not terribly surprised that I gave you permission to post in the character tab and then promptly forgot (hence my wording). And now that you mention it I do recall doing so, so my apologies.
Here is my concern. I explicitly banned something and instead of approaching me and trying to inform/convince me that the ban was premature or inappropriate you instead decided to outright ignore my ruling. This is not something I'm cool with.
For now lets do this: you may post (as I gave you permission to post in the character tab), but do not make any mention of lever action or pump action crossbows/bolters. DO NOT TEST ME ON THIS.
I have seen your argument here in the OOC in regards to those types of crossbows and will give it some consideration. If you want you are more than welcome to broach the subject in discord.
To everyone else
I'll be putting up the next GM post (and probably my first Argentum Knights post) sometime today. I am considering making the week of Christmas be something of a vacation, meaning I won't expect you all to post during it, but that's something we can address in the next week.
@Willy Vereb We've got two problems: 1) I don't recall giving you permission to post in the character tab and 2) your military uses pump-action and lever-action crossbows, both of which are explicitly banned. You will need to remove those crossbows, or bolters as you call them, and resubmit your sheet for approval before you can post ICly.
A number of players has brought to my attention a trend regarding crossbows that they find concerning. This trend being the desire to use lever-action, pump-action, or any kind of semi-auto crossbow. After discussing the matter with the concerned players I find myself sharing their concerns, thus I have decided to ban the use of any of the aforementioned crossbows (this includes bolters and any other similar weapons). I am aware that ancient china did use a type of semi-auto crossbow in RL, however these weapons had a number of serious issues (that players tend to be unaware of or simply choose to ignore) and I feel that the threat of 'tech creep' both warrants and necessitates this ban.
IC is now up and the first even has fired. Nothing super heavy weight, just something to get us started. If you have been given permission to post in the character tab and have done so feel free to post whenever. I'll be putting up an Argentum Knights post in the next few days and you can expect the next event to be on next Friday (this one will be a bit more... involved).
It is not the visible danger you need be concerned about, but the unseen one.” - The Prophetess, Year 223 of the Era of Heroes
Askor had suffered through twenty years of strife and conflict. Wars and famine. Diseases and political intrigue. Religious and political strife. And through it all the people of the continent had weathered the storm. They now looked to the future with the expectation of peace, at least for a time. Those expectations were about to be shattered, however, as clouds of an even greater tempest was already gathering on the horizon.

“Down with the Archon! Down with the bloodsuckers!” Artur yelled as he and the mob he had gathered marched towards the town. The mob echoed his cry seeming to go into a mad frenzy at the thought of bringing down the ruling class.
At one time Artur had thought that this day would never come, that simple peasants would be unable to have any sort of meaningful uprising. And then the ‘Outsiders’ had appeared before him, bringing him more information and wealth, in the form of mithral dust. Mithril! It had taken Artur months to figure out how to turn mithril into usable wealth without drawing undo attention. But he had, and with his newfound wealth he had managed to acquire arms and armor for a small army. And the ‘Outsiders’ had provided the communications network needed to gather that small army.
The ‘Outsiders’ had claimed to be “concerned citizens of the state”, whatever that meant, but Artur knew better, hence why he thought of them as the Outsiders. He didn’t know where they came from, whether they be from the Argentum Knights, agents of Lynnfaire, or simple criminals, and he didn’t care. All that mattered was that their interests aligned, for now.
“We take the town today!” Artur yelled so he could be heard, “and then we march on the capital!”

“What would have possibly done this?” Vertrestin the Astute wondered out loud as she and her companions took in the scene before them. Several humans had led the group of dryads to a large ravine that housed something they ‘had to see’. Vertrestin had been dubious that the humans had found anything of real note, but she and her companions had decided to follow them to the remote area anyways.
“How… how many hydras are here?”
“Three… maybe four?” One of Vertrestin’s companions answered after a moment. “The bodies are too mangled to be certain.” Calling them mangled was something of an understatement. To Vertrestin’s eyes it looks like the forest hydras had been chewed up by an impossibly large creature and spit out again.
“What could do such a thing?” Vertrestin asked. She left the question of why unvoiced.
The ground shuddered and suddenly Vertrestin found herself shaded from the sun. She tilted her head up and found herself in disbelief at what she saw. It took her a moment to recognize that the creature standing over the revine she occupied was a forest hydra, but it was quite different from any hydra she had ever seen. This creature was at least five times the size of even the largest she had seen before. And something was… wrong with it. Massive swathes of scales had either been torn off or rotted off, revealing blackened flesh that oozed a grey goo. The hydra’s eyes mirrored those of a dead animal, but even so Vertrestin felt like it was staring into her soul.
“We have to warn the-” Was the last thing Vertrestin the Astute ever said.

One moment Hasnaa al-Turay had been fighting alongside her friends, the next she awoke, bound and gagged, blindfolded, and with a horrid headache. She could feel that she was lying on something wooden, something moving. A cart perhaps? She couldn’t be certain, but the sounds of horses lent credence to the idea. She could still smell the salt of the sea, meaning they, whoever they were had taken her too far. Were her friends still alive? Had they been captured as well? She tried to struggle against the rope that kept her arms and legs bound, to test them, but even the slightest movement made her sick to her stomach.
“Awake are we now?” A gruff voice asked. The accent sounded both familiar and strangely alien at the same time. “You fought well. For a woman.” She could feel the owner the voice lean in towards her. “You’ll soon you hadn’t.” She couldn’t help but shiver at the sensation of his breath on her cheek.
“You bitches have had free reign for far too long. Now its time to see how well you and your friends fare as breeding stock yourselves.” The owner of the voice, and several of his nearby companions apparently found his comment hilarious, as they call had a long laugh.
@Aristo@DracoLunaris@The Wyrm: This one directed at you guys. You've got pretty much free reign to react to these threats as you please. Aristo/Wyrm: You guys are dealing with ~200 humans who are moderately well armed and armored, but generally lacking in actual skill. Draco: That forest hydra has got the combat strength of about ~200 humans as well. I will warn you guys that if you allow these issues to fester, they will get A LOT worse. Have fun!
Alright guys. So a reminder: The IC starts tomorrow and with it the first event of the RP.
Three countries will be hit by this event. I will be looking for volunteers first before randomly picking countries. This event will be pretty hands off for me, meaning I'll hit the three countries with it and they can react how they please, and the three countries hit by this event will be given immunity from the next event. To volunteer you must have your sheet approved by me and moved into the character tab. I will be taking volunteers starting at 8 PM Pacific time today (so ~3 hours from when I posted this) and it will be a first come first served deal. Don't stress it if you are unable to finish your sheet in time for this event as it's quite a lightweight as far as events go.
On another note: disregard Khan's sheet. He was not given permission to post in the character tab and other issues makes his sheet invalid.
On another another note: If I have not approved your sheet, but you feel it is ready to be moved to the character tab either give me an @mention here in the OOC or hit me up on discord. If you contact me on discord make sure that I acknowledge that you are asking me to go over your sheet.
Are dragons a thing in this world? If so, are they rare and are they powerful enough to have cults dedicated to them?
Dragons are very rare and are among some of the closest living descendants of the Primordials, so they are quite powerful and very intelligent. Their cousins, such as wyverns, are far more common, but also not nearly as powerful or intelligent.
If you're still accepting newcomers, I have a question. If there's something that we need to know about the lore that hasn't been mentioned, do we ask you about it or can we make up the missing lore ourselves so long as it's nothing unreasonable?
If in doubt ask. And we are still accepting newcomers.
