Unless you love kids a little too much, then a prison sentence is what can be done about it.

NOTICE OF CLOSURE

To all who have participated in this roleplay thus far, I thank you for taking the time and effort to help me get this idea off the ground, but unfortunately, due both to a lack of recent activity and a lack of ability to really continue the roleplay due to personal matters I'm going through, such as college application, I will have to bring this story to a close.

Again, to all those who've stuck around thus far, thank you for playing.

Rayner smiled, reaching out and taking Starfire's outstretched hand in his own, letting her guide him over to the table after rising from his seat. Upon reaching the table in question, Rayner released her hand as she introduced him to her group of friends, one of which Rayner could hear a power similar in nature to his own emanating from. And despite the short amount of time he'd spent in their presence, King could tell just from the rhythm it made alone that it was far more complex than his own ability to control basic electrical forces. He couldn't steal it of course. Not only because he was out in public with a whole restaurant full of witnesses surrounding him, but also because he knew that with enough time devoted to the studying of his own power, he could easily unlock the same level of complexity that the meta sitting before him now had by default.

But of course now was not the time for thinking about such things. So, shifting his attention from his private thoughts and back to the world around him, Rayner grabbed an empty chair from a nearby table and, pulling it over to the one he was currently standing beside, took a seat.

"Pleasure to make your acquaintance." He said, flashing a friendly smile to each person seated across from him as he nonchalantly tucked his hands into his coat pockets and scooted forward slightly.
~ALASTOR~

A low growl welled up within Alastor's throat as he made his way into the brightly lit building, the unidentifiable smells emanating from the back of the establishment making his mouth water and stomach grumble. "That must be the food these humans rave about constantly." Alastor mused as he made his way through the small crowd and moved towards the front counter. Leaning his cane on the divider, the Laizu gazed up at the electronic screens displaying the vast selection of food they had for sale.

Well vast in Alastor's mind anyway. Being native to a plane of existence where chaotic energy was his primary source of food, the former Umbral Lord simply didn't understand why the inhabitants of this world needed so much choice in what they ate. Was it simply because they were picky or indecisive? Either way, the sheer amount of foreign and alien things on the menu he could choose to eat was not only somewhat daunting, especially to a being out of his element such as himself, but very irritating as well.

"Can I help you sir?"

Alastor jumped involuntarily as a somewhat higher pitched male voice disrupted his thoughts, breaking his concentration. Shifting his gaze from the menus to the owner of the voice; a rather heavy-set tan skinned man with stubble covered cheeks, green eyes, and short brown hair done up in a spiked fashion, Alastor cleared his throat and did his best to articulate an accurate request for what he wanted.

"Um yes, I was wondering if I could get some... how do you say... food?" Alastor asked, stuttering in spite of himself. Looked like this human prison of his would be more problematic then he had originally anticipated.

"Uh... alright." The cashier said, taking notice of the strange manner with which the man standing before him spoke. "You can have whatever you like from the menus there-" He gestures to them with his left hand. "-if you can pay for it that is."

"Pay?" Alastor asked, quite clearly confused. "I'm not sure what you mean." Back in his home, back in Chaazim, his people didn't have an economy. At least, not in the way humans do. Rather than using material wealth or resources, his peoples realm ran off of the concept of power and influence. Those with the least power and influence, the Lowborn or common folk, were at the bottom of the Laizu pecking order, while the Umbral Lords, beings who could reshape the portions of Chaazim they ruled over on a whim, were at the very top.

"You're joking right?" The man asked, staring at Alastor blankly.

The Laizu simply stared right back, a completely serious expression on his face.

"Look..." The man began, letting out an exhausted sigh. "I don't get paid enough to deal with this kind of shit. I don't know what your problem is buddy, wether you're on drugs or have some kind of mental issue, but I don't feel like dealing with it tonight. Now, I'm going to have to ask you to step aside the people behind you can actually order." He said in an aggravated manner, pointing to the line that had formed behind Alastor during their conversation.

The Laizu's eyes flashed a brighter shade of violet for a moment before dying down to a barely noticeable glow as Alastor did his best to keep his new emotions in check. If this were his home plane, he'd have this fool flayed alive for his impudence. But this was not his home and he had no such power or authority here. And causing a scene would most likely only hinder his efforts rather than aiding them.

"Fine." He said tersely, grabbing his cane and tucking it up under his arm. "Have it your way." Turning away from the counter, Alastor stalked back towards the main entrance, his teeth clenched in frustration. Not only did he need to get back to Chaazim somehow, but now he had to find another way to get food as well.
Post is up. Not my best work, but it's something.

"I see." He said, pausing briefly to take in her words, especially the mention of her apparent exile from her home world. And judging from how she said it, it was simply an unintended slip of the tongue, but one that could prove useful in future interactions with her.

"And yes, it does. Many troubles and many, many scars. But the one I was referring to earlier, is a large wasteland in the middle of this continent. It's an extremely dangerous place that most people refer to as the "Scar", thanks to its hellish appearance and the horrendous events that occurred there." Rayner explained, leaning back slightly, his hands still resting flat on the table. And while he didn't show it, he could sense the hesitation in her voice, even with the rhythms still tugging at the edges of his mind. Of course hesitation, especially in her case, didn't really surprise him.

This world and its people were completely alien to her after all.

"As for my meal, perhaps I could finish it in the company of you and your friends?" He asked, gesturing to the group she had indicated earlier in their conversation. "If you don't mind that is." He added quickly. "I don't mean to be a bother, but I always go out of my way to meet new people whenever and wherever I can. Best way to make new friends and experience new things if I do say so myself."

I'll see about getting a post up later tonight or tomorrow at the latest. Hopefully. Have some lack of writing motivation atm. Not much, but enough to make me want to take a short break and recharge.

Rayner nodded slowly as he listened to Starfire's explanation, momentarily shifting his gaze over towards the group she gestured to, before absentmindedly letting his right-hand fall flat onto the table with a dull thud as he gently rested his head against his left and began subtly searching for physical tells in Starfire's demeanor that he could exploit or store in the recesses of his mind for later use. He noticed the small things that most other people wouldn't, or wouldn't think too much of, such as the way she kept her hands clasped behind her back as she rocked back and forth slightly, a sign of nervousness or anxiety perhaps?, or the way she looked back at the people she'd gestured to earlier.

He wasn't entirely certain as to the exact cause of her nervousness however, as the rhythms deep inside his mind slowly rose to the surface once again, begging to be studied at length and in meticulous detail, distracting him somewhat from making a more in-depth observation of the relationship this woman had with the small group of people at the other table, and decided to chalk the whole thing up to the woman's brief trip to the restroom earlier. After all, she had just admitted not only to being from another world but also being unable to eat the food they served here because of that. So logically she must have been in a state of mild anxiety, or even panic when she had rushed off after their first encounter. Actually, now that he gave it some more thought, he probably would have reacted the same way if he had just arrived from another world where, apparently, eating food was not a regular occurrence...

It was then, just as his mind was about to get lost in yet another tangent, that Rayner realized Starfire had asked him a question. Fumbling his words a bit, he struggled to recall what she had said before it finally came to him.

"From another world? Me?" He replied, chuckling slightly as he forced his mind to get back on track. "I wish. Especially with how bad things have been here so far..." Rayner paused for a bit, shifting in his seat slightly in an attempt to get as comfortable as he possibly could in a piece of furniture as cold and hard as this one, before continuing. The corners of his eyes crinkling slightly as his lips twisted into a small, yet friendly, smirk. "But no, I am just as human as everyone else here and Earth is the only home I've ever known. Though in some places I suppose it can look quite alien or otherworldly. Like the Scar for example."

"But all that aside..." He said, his voice taking on a mock conspiratorial tone as he leaned in closer himself, both of his hands now resting flat on the table. "What world are you from?"
I'll work on a getting up a response to Starfire from Rayner.

Edit: post is up.
It's not a Speedster war till someone makes their own version of Savitar, Godspeed, Reverse Flash, or Zoom.
@ZAVAZggg That's ok, it happens in life and sometimes you have set your priorities, but the rp is open if you decide to rejoin later or find you have the time.

Thanks. And like I said, the Draetor aren't going anywhere, so I'll probably work on them from time to time still. Who knows, might even get some new inspiration along the way.
