Bio
Hello. I go by “Denalz” and I can’t wait to meet you! I’m a woman in her 30’s living in the Midwest and a published author of a successful fantasy romance series. I love to read books of all sub-genres under fantasy. Been roleplaying since I was 14 so I have a fair bit of experience. In addition, I like to DM for a group of friends in my home. Dungeons and Dragons for the win!
Here's a quick rundown of each faction and their corresponding leader. I also threw in their stated assassination difficulty if that helps you...
Hooded Lanterns: Elias Drexel (easier to kill) Followers of the Falling Fire: Lucretia Mathias (easier-neutral to kill) The Silver Order: Theodore Marshal (difficult to kill) The Queen's Men: The Queen of Thieves (difficult to kill) The Amethyst Academy: Eldrick Runeweaver (neutral to kill)
Do you need me to direct you to a link explaining who the potential characters are for your "assassination list" (assuming you want to go with that quest line?) They are the five different faction leaders and some of them are far easier to kill than others.
You know what? I realize now that you altered "Find a Cure" into "A Cure For All". I'm scratching my head how to tell you something without giving any campaign spoilers. Allow me to communicate with you in this hider to at least protect anyone else reading through from having something ruined for them...
A cure-all is actually impossible in this game per the rules. I think that must be why they didn't suggest it as a potential quest line. However, if you like the idea of learning something valuable that could save a ton of people's lives, might I direct you toward the "Blighted Landscape" quest line?
Ooh, I think both those potential quests sound exciting. I edited my original post to make mention of the new Apothecary class that's specific to this campaign. I'll link it below if you're interested. Wizard would be great for quest "A Cure for All" but you might like Apothecary even more.
I’ll start off by admitting that I’ve never run a D&D game online. That being said, I’m willing to give it a go if I can find some one(s) cool to play with. In the spirit of full disclosure, I have a live, in-person Dungeons of Drakkenheim campaign coming up soon and I feel that giving it a go online will help me better prepare.
What I’m offering:
The chance for you to (potentially) play solo 10 years of DM’ing experience Flexibility in mechanics (we can do this more as a story exercise and forgo rolling if you like. I’m down either way)
What I want:
To DM for one or more players in a Dungeons of Drakkenheim setting To get comfy DM’ing online in either a live or play-by-post format To find people who can cope with my Christian background and conservative values
What’s Drakkenheim?
Themes: Horror, post-apocalyptic, political, dark, romance? System: Dungeons and Dragons 5e (2014)
Here’s a quick cinematic trailer for the campaign setting…
Dungeons of Drakkenheim requires all players to choose a “personal quest” to help drive this non-linear story forward. Here’s a list of ideas as published in the original campaign source material…
Apocalyptic Vision. I have been haunted by visions of the meteor for fifteen years. Every time I sleep, I see it crashing down upon me. My personal quest is to see for myself what lies at the heart of the crater. I must overcome whatever I find there in order to stop these nightmares.
Arcane Secrets. Forbidden lore lies in Drakkenheim. Several dark wizards living in the ruins have mastered terrible and powerful new magic. The Inscrutable Tower library stands unguarded, filled with spellbooks containing secret arcana. My personal quest is to learn these spells.
Blighted Landscape. A blight on the natural order envelops Drakkenheim, but the contamination could spread beyond the city. My personal quest is to study the unnatural phenomena found within the most corrupt places in the city: Queen’s Park Garden, the underground waterways, and the Crater’s Edge. Perhaps then I can develop a way to reverse the contamination.
Claim the Throne. Though my family has fallen on hard times, we were distantly related to the royal House von Kessel. I may have a claim to the throne of Drakkenheim. My personal quest is to search the cathedral, noble estates, and the castle for sufficient evidence to conclusively prove my inheritance. Then I will take the crown for myself.
Faction Aspirant. I believe strongly in the ideals and goals of one of the five factions: either the Amethyst Academy, the Followers of the Falling Fire, the Hooded Lanterns, the Knights of the Silver Order, or the Queen’s Men. My personal quest is to join the faction, aid their mission, climb the ranks, and rise to a high leadership position within their organization.
Family Matter. One of my family members or close friends has become mixed up with one of the factions. Perhaps they have foolishly decided to join the organization. Alternatively, they’ve been taken prisoner by the faction due to some trespass or misunderstanding. Either way, my personal quest is to bring them back home.
Find a Cure. I have a friend, family member, or loved one who was contaminated by delerium and turned into a monster. They have gone mad, and are lost somewhere in Drakkenheim. My personal quest is to locate them, then discover a way to reverse their horrific transformation.
Lost Heirloom. I used to live in Drakkenheim. My personal quest is to recover a lost heirloom from my old home, which was located somewhere in the Inner City. Perhaps the item is sentimental, valuable only to members of my family. Alternatively it may have magical properties, and I wish to use these powers to aid my own ambitions.
Monster Slayer. I wish to leave behind a heroic legacy by defeating dread beasts. My personal quest is to slay three of the greatest monsters rumored to dwell in Drakkenheim, and bring back their heads as trophies. Each must be a notable creature with a challenge rating greater than my own level when I defeat them. My allies can assist me, but I must strike the decisive blow myself!
Overwhelming Debt. I owe a tremendous debt of 10,000 gold pieces, maybe more. My personal quest is to pay it back by making a fortune in Drakkenheim collecting delerium, plunder, and completing work-for-hire. Meanwhile, I must hide from bounty hunters my creditor send to kill me.
Personal Pilgrimage. As an acolyte of the faith, my personal quest is to visit several holy places in the city and perform a sacred ritual before the remains of the martyrs interred within each: the Cathedral of Saint Vitruvio, Saint Selina’s Monastery, and the Chapel in Castle Drakken. Through these devoted acts I will understand my place in the divine order.
Score to Settle. I have come to Drakkenheim to kill one of the faction leaders: either Archwizard Eldrick Runeweaver, Knight-Captain Theodore Marshal, Lord Commander Elias Drexel, Lucretia Mathias, or the Queen of Thieves. Perhaps I seek revenge for a past wrong. Alternatively, I may covet their position and wish to replace them. Either way, my personal quest is to slay them.
"Sounds cool! What’s next?"
Message me below to express interest. Let me know which personal quest(s) excite you most. Could also mention what class you’d like to play if you already know. Speaking of which, this setting offers access to a new class called the Apothecary. I'm open to allowing that class if anyone is interested.
You still looking for takers? I'm curious. Wouldn't require you to DM for me. I'm getting ready to DM a Dungeons of Drakkenheim campaign for a live group soon. Maybe we could try that setting? It would help me prepare for my other game and give you a chance to play solo.
Have you gotten much interest? I’m just curious because you said “no thanks” to smut and I wonder if that’s why I don’t see too many replies on your thread. Would be a bummer if that were the case. Seems like most people on here want smut and/or homo pairings.
Tbf, I would change it a fair bit. Felt like I forced it into stagnation before. Maybe avoid forcing everyone together, as it makes it harder to keep a flow sometimes.
I think last time people had a hard time coordinating a big fight scene where we all were so close together. That sort of thing is easier when table top mechanics are involved. Without them it can get messy.
