@Queentze Let me put it like this - personally, I like original clans. But other people like canon clans. I don't mind which you play - I only care that you enjoy your character because if you play a character you do not like, you'll not remain interested for long.

So, pick what you like.

@Thecrash20 Genjutsu usually is just part of an understanding between two roleplayers that 'we fight to make the fight interesting, not to win'. So, therefore it will be part of collaboration most likely. I've never seen it used in PVP because it gets cheesed easily, or is overpowered and game breaking. I leave it up to you, but redoing the sheet would be what I'd opt for.

@McFazzer I think we have pretty decent power scalings so far, and I can always ask people to dial it back a bit once we hit the IC.

@Thecrash20 Genjutsu are pretty damn hard, I think, so I was surprised you went for that. I'm unsure what you mean by style though?

@McFazzer Nah, that's fine. We get this request every time we do a Naruto RP. I always hate to disappoint these people but sage mode is just one of those things that always gets tacked on 'for coolness factor' but never actually is explained or anything. We prefer to have it be earned IC, so that it has meaning.

If I give my character the nickname 'Slaughterer of the Million Uchiha' then that's cool, but it's pretty fucking meaningless if he didn't really earn it IC.

@McFazzer I mean, you're not allowed to have a sage from the get go. It's gotta be earned in the IC. Options for sage-hood in the IC can be explored at a later time.

I aim to start by wednesday, thursday. I have to host a karate tournament friday, so probably not then. Otherwise, saturday.

Thing is that once you're a jonin, your 'power' doesn't go up that much anymore. You might perfect a technique, or learn a new one, but you're not going to triple or quadruple your power. Unless you pull some shit that goes against the laws of nature.

So, in that regard, sure a genin could become a chunin, but already be stronger than most jonin.

Thing is that what sets them apart is experience, tactics and understanding. A genin->chunin wouldn't have that where as the jonin would. And so, ultimately the jonin would be better despite lacking the powers.
