i like being on the most active roleplaying community oriented forum on the interwebz.
Well they got nuclear detonation, yes. They never quite got "miniaturized nuke," though, as in "one you could put on an ICBM." So presumably they were working on that crucial development alongside their rocket tests.
I am skeptical that they never got that working - NK is sort of known for having connections to all kinds of shady people and 'miniaturized nuke' theory has been around for, well, a while so it's possible someone told them how for a lotta money or other stuff. But again, it's possible. The lack of real knowledge on our end (you and me) makes it really hard to estimate what they do and don't know, what is a facade and what isn't, etcetera. NK has surprised us in the past before - I would not be surprised in the slightest if they had an ace up their sleeve.
But for a nuclear program you need, like, engineers, specialized equipment, rare resources, processing facilities, time, etc. I get that the labor is cheap but the nukes aren't -- and even if they are, the equipment needed to research and produce them ain't. Without swathes of top secret intel, who knows, but it's entirely possible their program was EXTREMELY damaged by that one mountain collapse. If you had the resources to set the program up with redundancies and safeties, you would in fact be smart to do so -- but maybe they don't, even with the slavery.
I can't really say for sure. You make some good points - CBRN isn't your everyday asset so having access to one of these facilities might already have been a stroke of luck for the Kim's. On the other hand, they're pretty good at security (in it's most brutal form) and much of what you have said is already there - they've produced this crap before so research requirements are... limited? The problem was delivery of the payload, not the payload itself.
It'd be pretty hilarious if they slipped up and decided to research ICBM payload delivery in the same fucking facility.
It's not out of the realm of possibilities, yeah. Still, I am doubtful this is the end of NK's nuke program. Ceasing research and production does not mean proliferation - they'll continue to have nukes even if they can't produce more. So I suppose we'll have to wait and see?

That's the beauty of NK - don't have to be rich, just have to be in control. When your people are starving you don't need to pay them, you just give them something else, like food or privileges. I think you're giving the Kim's too little credit, though. It's a carefully orchestrated and engineered miracle that NK is still standing, almost 60 years after the Korea war (or more?). It's not all up to the Kims ofcourse, since they're advised by people who do know what's up, but to say it's short-sighted and terrible... I don't know. They have survived where other countries in similar situations have fallen. For a longer time than any of them have been around. Short-sighted? I'd say they've been very good at maintaining the status quo from their underdog position for as long as they have.

I don't know if it's been too long to discuss this, but I think I saw it on the news a couple of days ago: North Korea suspends their nuclear program. Any thoughts on this? I personally think that, if they keep to this mind frame, it could go a long way to ease tensions between them and most of the world.
It'd be a misstep on their end because they need nuclear programs to sustain their power. Looking at the middle east, anyone that was even suspected of having a WMD let alone nuclear capability was met with a kick-in-the-door attitude from the USA and alliance members. Having a nuclear programme is a risk in that regard because it warrants a visit from uncle Sam, but the favorable geographical location for NK means that the USA can't really do anything, because we already know that NK can reach Japan and SK with nukes.
Now, 'suspending' the nuclear program I'm assuming doesn't mean proliferation meaning that they still have nuclear capability, which leads me to infer two things; a) they now have ICBM that can reach the USA entirely as opposed to just the westcoast or b) they are switching to a different doctrine.
I don't think this will 'ease tensions' as much as it'll put the tensions on the backburner for 5-10 years before it flares up again. NK is very much a spoilt child in the sense that it wants what it wants and it makes damn sure to let everyone know it or throw a tantrum otherwise. Positive relationships with SK are nice but they're known for cancelling those relationships the moment something goes wrong. They're bargaining chips.
I'm doubtful this will be 'the turnaround' towards a more stable NK, and I'm seeing this more as a sign that a different doctrine for exerting power has been crafted.

He prefers to wear black wifebeaters with his flak vest over it, with skin tight gloves that reach all the way up to his biceps. It leaves just a tiny bit of his shoulder uncovered. Similarly his gloves have finger cutouts so he can still use his feeling senses to work. Not like Shinobi are known for their understanding of fingerprints anyway, so it's not like he has to worry about leaving fingerprints during his work.
He wears the standard shinobi slacks with shinobi footwear. It's standard issue and thus, standard wear for him. During his freetime he slips into something more casual like a sweater and slacks, but overall he doesn't really find himself pre-occupied with fashion.
On the other hand he takes good care of his body - not just in terms of fitness, but also in less direct ways. Combing his hair, washing it, all that stuff is something Sakana (and the entire Uragiri clan for that matter) takes great care and pride in. Something interesting for you to know, I suppose.
Sakana is somewhat of an asshole to those that aren't used to him. He has a rather straightforward approach to everything because in his eyes and mind the outcome is already predetermined by the Sage of the Six Paths, and therefore being courteous, subtle or anything but direct will only lead to a waste of time. Of course, some people's fate is to be subtle and courteous - but there's a difference between being who you are, and falsely being friendly, coy or diplomatic. If you want something - ask for it. If you are going to do something - do it. This goes for anything - from setting a cup of tea to calligraphy to killing a man.
It is no surprise that this siphoned into his personality - he is straight forward, direct and will generally do what he wants whether you approve or disprove of it. Fate is sealed - fighting it only makes you worse at your job. It is a philosophy that is otherwise not very prevalent in Konohagakure - or even the Uragiri clan as a whole - but it is one he came to after deep pondering with a much older, experienced man who said he has seen the Sage of the Six Paths himself after a session of deep meditation. These are two blades made of steel that can be infused (through the Hien/Flying Swallow technique) to sharpen their properties and make them more deadly. There are two seals, one on the handle of each knife, for use with the Fuinjutsu: Osu and Fuinjutsu: Hiku techniques. Besides that, they have no real 'special' properties.
A simple dao with no defining techniques or special variables. It’s strong and can withstand combat against other regular strong weapons, but techniques with enhanced weaponry or so will chew through it easily.
Ura Shishō FūinWilling to remove if necessary but the jutsu is so remarkably useless for a roleplay/a character, and I like the jutsu for exposition and flair.
This Doton technique forms the basis of a three-nature combination. The Bowl jutsu causes the target to be encased in a dome of earth around them, which then lifts up off of the earth on four earthen pillars. The jutsu is simple. There really isn't much to it - it doesn't kill, damage, or harm you, it just traps you inside the dome. That's bad, right?
Well you can break free. Use S, A, B, or C-rank lightning based jutsu's to break through, or use sheer force if you're really that strong. Just do it in time before the next part of the combo.

Since this is a suiton jutsu, you could possibly use wind to create a bubble of air for yourself to breathe, though it's not drowning you need to worry about. At this stage of the combo it becomes more or less impossible to use electricity to free yourself from the dome as you'd electrocute yourself. Unless you're willing to risk that. Sheer force would still be enough to break free, but since water slows down movement, it'd likely have to come from the outside.

For outsiders it's possible to blow out the fire using wind jutsu, to quench it with a water jutsu, or to simply free those in the bowl with force. Electricity is possible but ill-advised since you'd probably electrocute your friends inside the bowl.

The user seals or gets sealed 3 seals on their tongue, namely the characters for 'atsui' (熱い) meaning 'hot'. Due to the small size of the seals, the jutsu are not quite as large as your average great fire annihilation, but the flames burn just as hot.
The technique is easily hidden and it'd require some real good eyesight to see these seals. Similarly, because the jutsu uses a standard jutsu, it is not quite apparent that they're using sealing to be used, and it's easy to mistake these for a jutsu being used without handseals. As such, finding out that seals are used in this technique will be extremely hard for anyone that doesn't have specifically good eyesight. The seals are activated by flowing jutsu to them to 'unfurl' them, and then allows the user to spew out the technique.

This does little to enhance the actual effects of combat, though perhaps it can be used to pull incoming fists into his hands. More likely, it is used to pull his knives back towards him in a range of up to 10m. It’s an auxiliary, powerless but very useful technique.
Axu is an axolotl of about 1.5 meters high, and five meters long. However, most of that is his tail. He is a bright orange with black drawings all over his body in various shapes, most notably a marking on the front of his head that reads 'Axu' in kanji. This marking seems to be entirely natural and it seems to be the case that he was named after this shape.

Axu has the 'power' to produce a large amount of water from his throat by using his chakra, producing either a steady high pressure stream of water or a large waterball. Furthermore, his aquatic nature as a newt means he's extremely capable in the water and can swim extremely fast - while he is much, much slower on land. Lastly, as is the nature of axolotls, he has an extremely fast regeneration rate that he can use to heal himself (and only himself, never anyone else) extremely quickly to mend broken bones, tails that were cut off or even arms. If you want to kill him for sure, cut off the head.
Lastly he can fit up to three people in his mouth if they sit down.
I tend to restrict myself to a maximum of two active 1x1 threads. For example, I've got two going right now but they are for fully fleshed out, vastly different rps. I understand the frustration though. Especially when there are people who might not be getting attention, because someone with 3-4 interest checks is bumping them all at once. I prefer one or two devoted ideas to build on, while other people prefer the shotgun method.

Using two seals, one on each hand, the user can pull (hiku) in items that have been either a) touched or b) had a seal placed on them. The pull is stronger than the push. This does little to enhance the actual effects of combat, though perhaps it can be used to pull incoming fists into his hands. More likely, it is used to pull his knives back towards him in a range of up to 10m. It’s an auxiliary, powerless but very useful technique.
Axu is an axolotl of about 1.5 meters high, and five meters long. However, most of that is his tail. He is a bright orange with black drawings all over his body in various shapes, most notably a marking on the front of his head that reads 'Axu' in kanji. This marking seems to be entirely natural and it seems to be the case that he was named after this shape.

Axu has the 'power' to produce a large amount of water from his throat by using his chakra, producing either a steady high pressure stream of water or a large waterball. Furthermore, his aquatic nature as a newt means he's extremely capable in the water and can swim extremely fast - while he is much, much slower on land. Lastly, as is the nature of axolotls, he has an extremely fast regeneration rate that he can use to heal himself (and only himself, never anyone else) extremely quickly to mend broken bones, tails that were cut off or even arms. If you want to kill him for sure, cut off the head.
Lastly he can fit up to three people in his mouth if they sit down.
