No worries Melon. I apologise it's taking so long, timezones are a pain.
@MelonHead Posted, by the by.

Looks like LeeRoy's through to the semi finals. Now it's down to our fight and the one between IN and...whoever his opponent was cause my memory's bad.
"Hmm."

He harrumphed as his opponent emerged, unharmed of course. He didn't know where he was exactly, but obviously the mage was above him. Somewhere. On the platform.

He'd been observant enough to spot the circle and at least try to avoid it. If he'd been caught off guard, his injuries would've been much, much worse. The cold he was generating was slowly taking effect on his body; the wounds and burns he had were slowly icing over and healing, the effects of the magic ice slowly but very surely returning him to full strength.

The whole process, however, would take quite a long time, well after the fight was over.

Meanwhile, around him, ashes fell. When a flake hit the floor, it immediately froze the ground solid and then crumbled into powder. This, he did not notice. Not immediately, anyway. His focus was on how to beat his opponent without incurring more magical injuries.

Standing up off the central strut of the platform, he stared up at the stone bottom that his opponent was standing on top of. Thick, hardy stone; his ice had barely penetrated it. There was no way he was getting through that unless he had super strength beyond his current capabilities.

"Hmm."

A strategy slowly formed itself in his head. His opponent ran on magic, as did he, but where the mage could conjure many elements but had mastery of none of them, he had his ice and he was a master of it.

He stood straighter and took in a breath and closed his eyes. Then ice began forming all over his body, enclosing him in a hard, thick shell. As the last bits of the ice armour formed over his body, he took a step back, breaking free of the ice shell with a soft crack. Then he looked upwards.

"Oh yeah, I'm right down here. Come get me."

He shouted up, not moving from his spot, but as soon as he was done, he darted nimbly to one side, hiding underneath the platform and a few feet away from the ice shell he'd made of himself. Hopefully the spell the mage was conjuring would hit his shell instead of him. The broken ice would lend evidence to his "defeat", as it were, and he could climb upwards and continue his deception if Metz investigated.

For now, he positioned himself just right, dropping to a low crouch as he waited. He stood just beneath the platform's edge, behind the central strut so that the tall pillar was between him and his ice shell. If Metz just so happened to hop down and blast him, he'd hopefully be low enough to avoid whatever spell the mage threw at him.

Eric gave Rui a glance from above his glasses, then immediately returned to his book. He'd grown used to her annoyances over the years and frankly it was less annoying more exasperating, really. The events of the previous night had been an exercise in tolerance for him; he had Ramuh to thank for defending his pristine shirt from ever getting wet by her attempts to spill drinks on him. Every time she did, the offending liquids bounced harmlessly off Ramuh and landed on the floor, mostly onto her shoes. Granted she'd been way too drunk to notice, and that was just how he liked it. Even now, as Rui teased his growling stomach with the promise of strong coffee and one of those delicious granola bars, he felt Ramuh gently crackle over his chest, invisible mostly save for a few orange sparks that spat from his buttons.

Then Alabaster showed up and spared him the thought of actually responding. As the lanky young man tousled Rui's hair, he was shortly followed by Kade. The threat of more suit staining went unnoticed, though Ramuh flared at the young woman's words. Eric merely glanced down at his chest, shook his head and muttered under his breath.

"It's not worth pursuing, old man."

As the temperamental spirit settled down, Olivia showed, prim and proper though barefoot, as he idly noted. Her platform pumps were grasped in one hand and she appeared slightly flustered but otherwise alright. He surmised that waking up this morning had been rough on her, so he snapped his book closed and returned it to his inner jacket pocket, turning his attention to her.

"Olivia. You look like you need something to drink. A strong coffee perhaps."

Of course, at that moment headmaster Cid appeared from within the office. Rui immediately snapped to attention, thankfully, but out of the corner of his eye he noticed her glance towards him, her hands gently tensing around the coffee cup and granola bars. Expecting her to move, he merely turned towards her and opened his hands and, true enough, she bolted forward and deposited the cup and bars straight into his waiting hands. With a smirk and a nod, Eric took breakfast and handed Olivia a bar and the cup, in one smooth motion of course, as was his norm.

"There you are, Olivia. Coffee, strong and bitter, and an energy bar. I know lunch is around the corner but this should tide you over until then."

He knew his instinctual abilities infuriated Rui to no end. Just as she annoyed him, so he would anger her.

Meanwhile Olivia was busy giving Cid a big warm hug, so he waited. He and the headmaster were on good terms, though they spoke rarely for the most part. He stood straighter and gave the old man a warm smile as greeting.

"Morning, Headmaster. Cheerful, as always, hm?"

"Always, Eric. But you should learn to relax, dressing so proper like that so early in the day."

He smiled and bowed his head in mild embarrassment.

"Headmaster, you should know by now I always dress like this. I don't have anything else, except for those shirts the others gave me on my birthday last year."

Cid grinned and clapped him on the shoulder.

"So serious! Lighten up, Eric!"

With a chuckle he returned the grin and shook his head.

"I'll try, Headmaster. I'll try."

He muttered a soft thanks as he entered the old man's office, choosing to stand to one side of the door as the rest filed in slowly.
@MelonHead Cause you mentioned in your post that the fire reached the ceiling. I was just following you.
The Moving

Within this little, humble forest camp, men and women of many races went about their lives. An air of uncertainty, tension and change hung low amongst the scattered tents and framework. The Moving, the resistance movement against the Warlords and the Aphotheoses, a ragtag bunch of misfits led by an old man once mighty to combat the forces of darkness before their land fell to the shadow and became hell. Such was the miracle of their existence; for even in the darkest of times, there is always a glimmer of light to guide those of strong, noble heart towards their destiny, a higher calling by the light to those that would see their world renewed and rejuvenated in nature and in spirit. Warriors, brave and courageous all, though they did not see so far into the future as to know the end of their journeys.

Of course, none of those thoughts passed through the mind of a certain hulk of a minotaur that sat within a corner of the camp. Instead, what did mosey through his head were thoughts of his next meal, and a place to find more straw to finish the hat he was weaving delicately in his huge, sausage fingers.

Argrom sighed and set the straw hat down on the dirt floor. It wasn't finished, of course, but to fit his head he'd require a lot more materials than just whatever long grass he could find that could pass for straw in the forest. He'd come from lands away, many days ago, in fact. The lands where he came from were lush, with rolling plains of golden wheat and maize, thick, juicy heads of corn and the long, flowing rows of rice in their paddies. It was far, far to the East and the farming life was much behind him. Here, now, he was in a very strange place, recruited to a cause he knew almost nothing about, the only reason why he was here being the sheer size of his body and his innate physical strength. Nothing more.

His accomodations within the camp were meagre; since they did not have any tents big enough to house him, he instead slept on the dirt, nestled underneath the shade of a particularly large tree in a corner of the camp. Another, more gracious resident had offered him a small mat upon which to lay his head, which he'd gratefully accepted, but nothing else was given, not to his surprise. His size and bulk were apparently very intimidating to those comparatively smaller in stature to him; but he didn't know much about that either, all the other people he'd known had all been minotaurs, not until the humans and other races had rolled into his village seeking able-bodied men to fight in the resistance. These other, tinier races intrigued him greatly, but he was too shy to ask or query any of them.

T'was only a few minutes before Argrom decided to have another rest, since he had nothing better to do. He kept the half finished hat close to him as he rested his head on an upraised tree root, closed his eyes, and took a nap. Mayhaps later in the day something of interest might happen but for now, he would rest.
Done.
