Plot

Through out the long history of Planet Earth, many legends are told of the mythical Dragon Balls. Said to possess great power, the seven orbs are believed to have the power to summon a godlike dragon named Shenron, who has the power to grant any one wish to the person who summons him. Over a long enough period of time, however, the tales of the Dragon Balls became increasingly warped from the truth as the tales are told and retold. Some versions of the myth call them and the dragon by a different name, other myths claim that Shenron isn't a dragon at all. The only nugget of truth that remains in every version of the story is that there are seven orbs, and that they grant the wish of whomever is capable of gathering them.

But this legend, like many, has sense faded into obscurity. Old myths and small villages have given way to capital cities and technology. There are, however, still a few of the traditional villages still standing in more remote parts of the world, their histories and legends untouched by the passage of time. In fact, one of the oldest traditions of the world is, even now, still a very prevalent and respected tradition: the Martial Arts. The entirety of Papaya Island has been dedicated to hosting the renowned Tenkaichi Budokai, known also as the World Martial Arts Tournament. Competitors for this world-famous event are known far and wide as the strongest martial arts masters in the world. Those who consider themselves to be Martial Artists are often greatly respected by the common people, or feared, depending on the personality of the fighter in question. Even in some of the modern cities like the metropolis that is West City.

In fact, West City is even home to a handful of rival street gangs that use martial arts to decide who owns what territory in the city. It is here that the story begins. The two most prevalent martial arts gangs, the Sabers and the Khans, have begun fighting one another more than usual. The reasons for this increase of activity vary from opinion to opinion, but the most popular one is that they are fighting over possession of one of the Dragon Balls. Rumors like this, of course, have a habit of attracting others who may also be on the hunt for the mythical orbs of legend.

Rules

1. No flaming, bashing, or anything else that violates the site's overall rules.

2. My word, and the word of any Co-GM I assign, is law. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

3. Stick to Earth-based races. This based on Dragon Ball, not Z. So things like Saiyans and other alien races are a no-no.

4. Power Levels. There will be none, at least not in terms of numbers. In my experience, using numerical power levels always seems to lead to players getting into an unspoken competition over who can raise theirs higher and faster.

5. Speaking of power level, we're keeping the overall power level scale low for this RP. This is, after all, supposed to be Dragon Ball (not Z) where the strongest character was Master Roshi of all people.

6. Since this is Dragon Ball, fights are gonna happen. It's inevitable. Possibly even PvP fights. As such, I will have a separate list of rules below that apply specifically to PvP battles.

PvP Rules

1. Any players that plan on engaging in a fight scene between their characters need to decide who will win before the first punch is ever thrown. How this is accomplished (discussion, coin toss, etc) is up to the players' discretion, but it needs to be agreed upon by both players involved so no arguments can crop up later.

2. I know this is Dragon Ball, where it is a tradition for a single battle to last for what feels like forever, but I don't want to see a fight between player characters that spans multiple pages. Try to keep it brief without cutting it too short. A good solution for this might be to write collaborative posts so that more of the fight scene can be accomplished in less amount of posts/pages.

Before we begin, I'd like to make one thing very clear. Forget what you know about Dragon Ball. Its story, characters, plot points, none of that means anything here. What I intend to do is completely re-imagine the world of this series for a completely new story. Well, OK, not completely. Some elements, such as the titular Dragon Balls, will still be present. But things like characters, plots, and even entire places will be either rewritten or erased entirely at my discretion.

That being said, let's talk about the meat and potatoes. Throughout Earth's long history, many tales, legends, and myths are told of seven mystical objects with the power to grant any heart's desire: the Dragon Balls. They aren't always called Dragon Balls in the stories, sometimes they aren't even ball-shaped at all. But among all the tall tales and blatant exaggerations, there remains one common nugget of truth: there are always seven of them, and they always have the power to grant any one wish to he who gathers them all. Fast forward to the present day, where curious adventurers, having heard the stories, and, for one reason or another, begin scouring the world for the mystical objects in question. But are these orbs of legend more trouble than they're worth? After all, one never knows what kind of crowds can become attracted to the idea of hunting down a treasure capable of granting their wish.

I'm looking for a small group only. 4 (not including myself) is the ideal number since, as the original Journey to the West (the story Dragon Ball was based on) featured 4 main characters, I feel the same should be true of the RP. As I previously stated, I as the GM do not count as one of the four slots, since I will be taking on the more Dungeon Master-esque role of providing NPCs, villains, and other such things for the actual players to interact with.
So... does anyone know any useful strats for clearing Lingering Will and the Data Battles? Those are literally the only things I have left to do in my KH2 file, and... honestly, at this point I'm just procrastinating doing them. The only one I've actually defeated was Marluxia. As for the others, well here are the battles I've attempted:

1. Lingering Will
2. Larxene
3. Zexion
4. Vexen
5. Roxas

I think I've got a decent idea of how to beat Roxas's pattern, but the others just seem like pure bullshit. Larxene in particular just juggles me in what I swear to God is an endless combo attack until I die. Vexen isn't too bad, but then he starts summoning hordes of Anti Form Sora clones that make it im-fucking-possible to focus my attacks on Vexen without them gang-raping me from all other angles. I only attempted Zexion once and I was at a much lower level then so I may need to try again now that I've reached level 99. As for Lingering Will... yeah, it's Lingering Will, 'nuff said. I swear to God Terra is a cheating motherfucker because his Keyblade somehow still hits me even though I CLEARLY DODGE ROLLED OUT OF HIS REACH. /rant
True. There were some memorable bits in it, though.

Maybe we're hesitating because of what happened last time we visited Far Far Away? xD
Not really sure. The goal is to emulate the tone of the movie, so I would say it can be funny at times but then become a bit more serious again when the action starts.
Set in Metroville several years after the film, the RP will chronicle the formation and exploits of the first official Superhero Team, a decent feat as Supers in the past were always prone to working alone with only the briefest of team-ups happening on rare occasions. However, since the attack of Syndrome's robot it became increasingly clear that Supers could perform far more efficiently when working in cooperation. At first the only known team of Supers was Mr. Incredible and his family, along with Frozone. However, years passed and as they did, Dash and Violet grew up and moved out to start families of their own. Even the teenaged Jack-Jack has recently turned 18 and left home for college. So, with only Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, and Frozone left the "team" wasn't looking much like a team anymore. Elastigirl soon decided hang up the cape once again, this time for good. So, with only an aging Mr. Incredible and a reluctant Frozone left, they decided to scout out for new talent. Just because the Supers had been in hiding all this time didn't mean they were completely gone.

Basically, the cast will be a handful of new supers that have surfaced since the Superhero Relocation Act was lifted. These inexperienced people will need to be taken under Mr. Incredible's and Frozone's wings if they are to become the next great Superheroes. The thing I want to stress about this is that these Supers are not heroes yet, they were born long after the Glory Days and so they have little to no experience at being Superheroes, hence why Mr. Incredible and Frozone will essentially acting as the mentors who train them. As for Dash, Violet, and Jack-Jack, they are still active, but are in other towns. So while they will very likely make an occasional cameo, they are not meant to be part of the regular cast.
The rabbit listened quietly as one of his future team mates voiced the exact concerns he himself had but was too polite to actually say anything about. And indeed, he came off as every bit rude as Oswald himself would have sounded in that scenario. Oh well, the first step to learning was to act and make mistakes, it was just a serendipitous coincidence that someone else made the mistake instead of the rabbit himself. Well, better him than me, Oswald supposed before Mickey told them the truth.

So the King really did hope this mission would be non-combative. That almost seemed... naive, in a way. Then again, Mickey always had been an optimist, even to the chagrin of others. As for Oswald himself, he decided to hold off on his thoughts until he knew what it was they'd be dealing with exactly.

In the meantime, he was ushered away with the others to the Gummi Ship they would be flying in. It certainly wasn't his ship, that was for sure. This one was much bigger, although speaking of Gummi Ships, Oswald couldn't help but wonder what they actually did with his. It was only a prototype, but still, he'd grown attached to the thing after flying it for as long as he did.

And after a few more words with Sorami, her reassuring them that once she, Donald, and Goofy were done with their mission they'd try to join up in this one, the big Gummi Ship was off, rocketing into space in the only way a Gummi Ship could from this hanger... by being dropped straight down a shaft through the underside of the world. Yeah Oswald was never a fan of that design feature and often found himself wanting to find the person responsible for it and smack them upside the head. Of course, he'd then remember it was the King himself who designed the Hanger, so smacking him was out of the question. Didn't stop Oswald from always questioning what the hell the King's thought process was in deciding that such a design was a good idea, but whatever.

In mid-flight, Oswald finally decided to make sure the others knew his name, "Just in case I didn't tell any of you, my name's Oswald." Eventually, though, they were in a new world. This was not one Oswald was familiar with, the only swamp he'd ever seen was in a bayou, and in that world Oswald was much, much smaller than he was here. He spotted a group of... people, he honestly wasn't sure what they were supposed to be. They were knocking on the door to someone's... house, although you wouldn't know it at a glance since otherwise it looked like a really tall tree stump.

Then the Heartless appeared. Nothing too serious, just some Shadows and Soldier, both of whom Oswald had plenty of experience in defeating. The rabbit held out his hands, his Keyblade appearing in his left one while he right was suddenly holding onto a sword of some kind, "Well, this escalated quickly. Time for work." and with that, he leaped into the fray to start cutting down Heartless, as in he literally leaped through the air, even performing a little front flip in the process. Yep, he definitely trained with King Mickey alright, right down to the same backflip/frontflip oriented fighting style the King was known for using.
I'll try to get something up tomorrow-ish.

On an unrelated note: The Org 13 Data battles can go right to hell. Attempted to fight Zexion and then Larxene just to test the waters. Not even kidding, they just endlessly juggled me in midair until I died. Like, what the hell? How am I supposed to defend myself against this kind of BS? And Larxene and Zexion were the easiest Org Members to beat in the Absent Silhouettes for me, so I don't even wanna think about the members that are legitimately frustrating like Xaldin. Also, Lingering Will can totally hit me even though I CLEARLY dodge rolled away from his keyblade attacks, I CALL HAX!
KH2 was good, but I'll always prefer Birth By Sleep. Best battle system ever in my humble opinion.
