Current Today I officially de-fridged the death of a female character who was fridged for RP drama almost 20 years ago. Hopefully it makes sense in the story and comes across as a way better story beat.

Adding to that, unless you are exhibiting life threatening symptoms (unable to breathe, etc) go to a rapid test site in your area than going to the ER. Local ERs are swamped and overwhelmed here.

9 more days to get your CS's finished up! Also, there's a TON of characters but only a handful of slots! That means everyone needs to put their best foot forward for these characters. Make sure you consider how their quirk works, compare it to quirks in MHA: this page from the wiki is a GREAT resource: https://bokunoheroacademia.fandom.com/wiki/Quirk.

Seriously, there's lists of EVERY quirk ever depicted in the MHA universe. Also, consider character motivation, backstory and why they are at Isshin High School. If you need NPCs related to your character's backstory, LET US KNOW. I've got 10 days of quarantine and technically my school is on Spring Break, so I have absolutely NOTHING to do. I spent yesterday making a ton of staff for Isshin High School, giving each one personality, quirks and what classes they teach.

Also, the more free time I have on my hands that I'm sitting here twiddling my thumbs, the crazier it will be. If I need to design actual Hero Tests for the rp'ers to take, grade them, and then post class rankings throughout the RP; you bet your butt I will do that. Because I'm crazy.

Good and evil. That was a humorous thought indeed. Enough years in the wastes were enough to show anyone that when put into a horrible, deadly situation, good and evil are replaced with rationality and barbarism. And every idiot with a gun, an NC or a sharp enough stick thought they were sly enough to be as barbaric as they wanted. Those were the kinds of folks Graham mentioned; raiders who preyed on any kind of scrap they could get. But something else seemed odd; and in the pit of Alan's gut, he had a strong feeling that was why he was out here at the ass-end of the world. This guy was corporate through and through. His dress, his words, his stance. Everything reeked of professionalism. Which was hilarious to Alan, who was about as professional as a dishcloth.

"The fact that you're not promising us a share from every corpse we loot at least means you're less of an asshole than some of the job posters out there," Alan smirked. "But then again, this all smells way too professional to be a rinky-dink out of the way settlement. The fact that they have someone like you-" Alan nodded to Graham, "trying to organize a bunch of mercs and scavvers into some kind of military is interesting." He looked around at the pilots. They all came from various walks of life, he could tell by the gear they wore, the dirt on some of their faces. "Is that what you want out here? A military to protect a bunch of snow and scrap?"

Personal Dossier

Name
Tanaka Shun

Age
15

Origin
Okinawa, Japan

Physical Description
Always taller than most boys his age, Shun is big in all respects. Heavier, taller and darker-skinned due to growing up on Okinawa, he sticks out like a sore thumb this far north. His dark brown hair is occasionally gelled up into a pompadour, and he walks around wearing a dumb grin on his face. His casual wear consists of wearing relaxed shirts and shorts, it’s a humorous sight to see him shivering as he walks outside between classes. But, as he says, ”The clothes are just part of who I am!”

Characterization
Earnest
Friendly
Honest
Helpful
Humorous
Lazy

Personal History
Shun was raised by his father, a racecar mechanic in Okinawa alongside three older brothers and a younger sister. Shun barely had any real memories of his mother, who was always "away on business" during his childhood. Her own work was kept secret in their household, as his father seemed particularly upset with his wife's career path. When Shun was 8, his mother was killed on one of her business trips, and his father became colder and more obsessed with work. Shun's more cheerful personality, something he seemed to inherit from his mother and grandmother, continued undaunted in these dark times, even masking his own sadness.

Whilst Shun's father and brothers all had the same quirk, Shun had inherited his mother's quirk: Overdrive. This seemed to create a further rift between Shun and his family, as he was still expected to assist with his family's business after school. In fact, up until his final year in middle school, Shun had never actually considered the hero course at all. During a class trip, one of Shun's classmates tripped over a railing, and Shun was able to grab her in time before she could fall. This was the first moment where Shun's homeroom teacher recommended he consider the hero course for high school, instead of going to a normal high school, and then to a technical school to get a degree in mechanics.

Shun's application process was an awkward series of misadventures. His scores were extremely average, and his aptitude with his quirk was pathetic. A month before his middle school graduation, Shun received a letter from Isshin Academy, a school he had not applied to (due to the sheer distance from home). His scores, quirk tests and interview all felt the same at every other school he applied for, and it all seemed hopeless.

And then he received his acceptance letter. Even without his father's blessing, Shun took the chance to pursue this odd career choice; based on both his teacher's recommendations and a serious conversation he had with his grandmother that same year...

Character Development & Conceptualization
Shun is a fun, relaxed and laidback character, and is meant to be an antithesis to the shonen protagonists that are so popular in the genre (and that I tend to roleplay all the time). Shun is relatively weak compared to his other classmates and has only made it this far due to his quirk’s abilities. The goal is to follow this lazy character that in any other medium be a background or punchline character and show how even someone like him can develop into an excellent hero. The other concept of his character is growing into his place as a hero and learning the truth behind some hidden family secrets. Dealing with the serious consequences of taking up a hero's mantle, as well as trying to live up to their ideals and expectations around those who knew them best is an interesting source of drama.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Emitter

Quirk Description
Many believe Shun’s quirk is based around simply charging up energy, but it’s a little more than that. Overdrive is simply Shun’s ability to store up kinetic energy, then release said kinetic energy any way he pleases. While he can do damage with his quirk, Shun’s greatest weakness is both in his physicality (out of shape) and in his ability to store the energy. It can take up to three minutes for Shun to charge up his quirk, leaving him both open to the counter-attack and incapable of performing a rescue. However, when he releases his kinetic energy, he is capable of both extreme speed and strength.

Overdrive is a deeper quirk than simply kinetic storing; as Shun's mastery of his quirk increases, he will be able to sap potential energy from objects (trains, cars, bikes, moving debris, etc) as well as draw out reserves of energy, though this technique comes at a great cost.

Other Talents & Attributes
Shun is a brilliant gearhead and can tear apart most small electronics and vehicles if left to his own devices. As far as his own physical abilities, Shun has fallen behind throughout his school years. His attitude has always been focused on taking it easy and relaxing, which has stunted his potential physical growth. He also lacks any sort of great stamina, rendering long applications of his kinetic charge weak. Shun is also a master around a barbeque, in case anyone gets hungry out there in the snow.
Howdy everyone! I'm Drew, one of the Co-GMs for the roleplay! I'll most likely be the first GM you'll message since my area of expertise is Quirks and lore-viability, at least when it comes to characters.

Some major things to think about when deciding your character's quirk:

1. How does the quirk affect your character? It could reflect their personality, could physically alter them, quirks are extremely varied!
2. The viability of the quirk: Can you protect and save people with this quirk? If your quirk is making farts smell fragrant, I'm sorry; that is a USEFUL quirk, just not one a hero can use.
3. Does the quirk fit the world and is the quirk fair in this universe? No one is All-Might level in this RP. The characters are first year high school students, and their quirks are still developing. No one is going to be able to face a powerful villain solo in this RP.

If you have a concept in mind, if you have questions, or if you just want to call me a big doo-doo head (not teaching my classes in person for the past week has me sort of missing middle school insults) feel free to DM me on RPGuild or on Discord! I am very prominent and annoying in the chatroom.

So, get to work out there students! And remember, Plus Ultra, Go Bey-oh crap, I mean Soar Skyward!
That just means lots of interesting quirks I get to read through and help develop! Bwahahahaha!
Oh yeah it's me, I'm still alive.

“If the stove still works, we should try to cook something. Before we leave. It’d be an easier hike if our stomachs aren’t empty.”

Daniel dug through his bag, pulling out a few items. Jerky, chips, granola bars and bottled water. "Nothing really to cook here, unless someone found some food in the other rooms. But-" he tapped on a bag of jerky. "If we have any stock, vegetables and noodles, the jerky can rehydrate in a soup. It would make it a little less tough to eat at least," he said, looking to the others. "Or...if anyone else has anything before we make a break for it."

Daniel made himself busy by checking out the kitchen and backrooms. There wasn't much to find; cleaning supplies and a few items; a mop and some tools; nothing that would be a great upgrade to the steel pipe he'd been lugging around. He'd heard that you could create simplistic explosives with cleaning materials, but he was far from an anarchist to know any of that.

He checked in a cabinet and found paydirt: a plastic "first aid box" from a big-box store. They came packaged with gauze, bandages, antiseptic; usually enough to take care of cuts and scrapes along the way. He opened it and looked inside: a half-used bottle of iodine, some gauze strips, and bandages, as well as some over the counter pain and fever relief pills. "It's not perfect..." he muttered,"But it'll work for little wounds. I doubt it'd disinfect a bite from one of those...things." He stashed the medical supplies in his bag and grabbed a half-dull knife from the kitchen as well. It wouldn't work as a good weapon against one of those things, but it could cut a rope or string at least.

He returned to the main room with the others. "I found some medical supplies. It won't be enough to fix any big wounds, but it'll keep any scrapes or cuts we have treated. So we don't have to stress about infection...unless we really get hurt."Gauze and iodine wouldn't heal an internal wound, after all.

"Once we're done picking this place clean, I say we survey the area and make tracks. At least we can relocate somewhere safer on the way there; maybe with some food and supplies too."

Daniel Marlowe was tired. He’d spent the majority of the time since the first time he saw one of these...creatures running as fast as he could from them. He’d slept maybe three or four hours in days, and the toll was obvious in his face. He’d scavenged food and water, but he knew he couldn’t keep up the marathon forever: that’s when he found other survivors. A woman; specifically an agent of the FBI, a young man and a teacher. And here he was; probably the most useless of the group. For chrissakes, he didn’t even have a gun.

He listened intently as the agent began laying out the plans: this bar had no supplies to use and their best chance was heading down river to some summer camp. “Summer camp sounds like a good place to hold up, actually,” Daniel started as they were busy with their own business. “They’re usually far out from civilization, meaning we won’t deal with so many of those freaks like we have here in Rushford. Plus, camps tend to stock up for the summer with nonperishable foods, medical supplies and other tools. The only thing I feel we’ll be lacking there would be weaponry--” he stated, looking at both the agent and the teacher. “But honestly, guns are probably a bad idea unless there’s no other situation. Regardless of their mental acuity; we’ve seen how they react to sound--” he nodded at the cacophony of the speakers outside. “The less firing we do, the better. I’d assume, anyway.”

He moved through the bar looking for anything of use; wooden sticks, glass bottles, he was careful to examine everything he could possibly find. “A bottle of high proof liquor would be better put to use for medicine or for a firebomb,” he muttered, digging through shelves. “We can sanitize cuts and scrapes the same way we’d use medical alcohol, or we could use the flammability to ignite something. Hell, even those freaks outside burn.”

He stopped for a moment, realizing he’d been talking for a minute now. “Sorry, I don’t mean to act like a know-it-all. I guess i’m just trying to recall my days in the scouts back in the 90s.”

"All my life I've wondered what it would be like to be a character in one of my stories. I’m starting to regret that little desire."

Appearance Description
Daniel wears thin, wire frame glasses. To go without them would be dangerous, as he is painfully near-sighted. Daniel’s normal clothing consists of a smart button down collared shirt, khaki or slate-gray pants, and usually a thick coat, either tweed or leather. To say that he embraces the look of a nebbish man who tends to spend his hours typing away at a computer would be no lie.

Biography
Daniel Marlowe is not a household name, but to cult followers in horror novellas and terrifying published magazine tales, he has found his place in the world of the written word. Daniel’s entire life has always revolved around the written realm, which lead him to many sacrifices throughout his life: the comfort of steady pay, the free time to pursue relationships with others and the stability of a normal schedule. Daniel moved to Rushford three years ago after selling his parent’s house in Indiana. His agent, Franklin Picolla, said that the local publishing company in town, Deadwood Press, would love to have him work part time while he worked on his next project. That led to more hours taking phone calls and proof-reading other works than working on his own.

Daniel has no immediate family, having lost his mother to cancer four years ago. Since then, his only normal contacts were those at the Deadwood Press publisher and Franklin. Daniel has never been so isolated with such wondrous company.
It was during a meeting with Franklin over possibly selling his most well-known story, The Stranger at the Window, as a film treatment that he saw the true horror on what exactly was going on. The diner they met at had a man who was sick suddenly start attacking the staff. In trying to leave, Franklin was overwhelmed by the sick man and bitten. With his agent wounded, people freaking out and emergency services unavailable, Daniel ran.

He’s been running ever since.

Gear

•Messenger Bag: Daniel’s lucky messenger bag which contains his writing journal, several pens, and other items he needs throughout the day. Right now the contents alongside the journal and pen are bags of jerky and several water bottles, scrounged from gas stations. The bag remains in good condition and has been a source of luck and survival for him. At the very least, he can carry things.
•Cell Phone: Nearly dead, but works better as a flash light than anything else.
•Wristwatch: Great for telling the time in the undead apocalypse.
•Metal Pipe: A broken piece of pipe taken from the backroom of a store. Solid steel which has powerful bludgeoning power, but slow and unwieldy when used by such a weak man like Daniel.

Skills

•Puzzle Master: Daniel can easily work through puzzles and brainteasers, whether dealing with number problems, codes or literary hints. Useful if you’re traversing a dangerous mansion or nightmare realm; less useful when you’re running from the undead.
•Firearms Expertise (Specialized): Growing up in Grey’s Falls, Daniel had his hand in hunting ducks with his father. He’d comfortable with nearly all forms of shotguns and can easily fire one with little difficulty accounting for the recoil. His father also taught him a bit of shooting with a handgun, specifically a Smith & Wesson Model 37, which was the old man’s service pistol. Due to this specialized training in firearms, Daniel has no skill with magazine-fed firearms like a semi-automatic pistol (Glock, M1911, Sig) or magazine fed rifle.
•Creative Writing: Daniel is capable of crafting intricate stories, though most have a macabre bent to them.
•Eidetic Memory: Daniel possesses a photographic memory, and can remember things in vivid detail after seeing them for a short time. This includes maps, information, codes and other clues.
•Former Boy Scout: Though years out of practice, Daniel has skills in simple survival; from making a fire, fishing with a line, tying knots and practical first aid.

Other
Daniel gets embarrassed if people recognize him from his work. He’s only done a handful of conventions and recognizes he has very few fans. .
