Current Today I officially de-fridged the death of a female character who was fridged for RP drama almost 20 years ago. Hopefully it makes sense in the story and comes across as a way better story beat.

Adding to that, unless you are exhibiting life threatening symptoms (unable to breathe, etc) go to a rapid test site in your area than going to the ER. Local ERs are swamped and overwhelmed here.

Welcome, interested parties, to my little Resident Evil RP. The focus of this RP is less on the actiony elements of the past games, and more on the survival horror aspects of the older games, alongside the cooperative/normal people vs zombies elements of the Resident Evil Outbreak games.

Here's an overview of the plot, or at least what I came up with thus far:

Parris City, a costal city in the Northwest US. Located on the Pacific Ocean, it is also the home of Triton Corp, a biomedical research company. While under the auspices of medical research, Triton Corp is actually a secret government facility based around continuing weapons based B.O.W. projects originally designed by Umbrella, including researchers picked from Umbrella and TriCell; researchers who, instead of facing sentencing for their crimes, have been forced to work for the U.S. government in developing B.O.W.s and countermeasures. Due to the death of President Benford in the Tall Oaks incident, the true knowledge of this research facility is still classified.

On July 15th, 2014, an incident occurs in the facility. An unknown figure triggers multiple explosions throughout the facility, and triggers a catastrophe that threatens to rival Raccoon City. With the public in fear of new bio-terrorist attacks, the BSAA is sent in with little knowledge of the crisis. Parris city is now under siege; awful creatures roam the streets, and the few survivors of the initial outbreak must find a way to survive this horror.
---
Names to know/GM NPC Characters:

-Brian Lansing: Director of the U.S. Bioterror Security Board. His cabinet is working directly with the BSAA during the Parris City incident. He is in charge of the US quarantine of the area.

-Charles Grey: Current head of the North American branch of the BSAA.

-Captain George Dufrenes: BSAA Captain of Alpha Team, first to arrive in Parris City.

-Mayor Roger Sargent: Mayor of Parris City, a man too aware of Triton's true research, someone corrupted by money to help them build their facility under the city.

-Chief Earl Hancock: Chief of Police in Parris City.

-A. Wesker: A mysterious man who bears the same last name to an infamous bio-terrorist.

Please notice how all characters (save possibly one are all original characters. I want to focus this on a cast of OCs, versus everyone playing canon characters from the Resident Evil games. It's unfair to see Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine and Leon Kennedy drop kicking zombies and blasting everything away. It's fun for a game, but...kind of boring for a story.

The City:

Parris City is located between a rocky cliff face, known as Parris Peak to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the west. The main Triton facility is actually built into the cliff, overlooking the city. Parris Peak is also home to a branching web of tunnels, all which have been closed off when Triton came to Parris City. The Parris Harbor is located in the west side of the city. The Mayor's office is located in the Northeastern part of the city, and the Police Station is located in the Southeastern part of the city. The Parris Aquarium is located in the southwest part of the city. Burton Memorial Hospital is located central in the city. The City Arboretum is located to the south of the hospital. Different apartment complexes and homes are located across the city as well.

Many roads have become impassable due to fires, wrecks and debris, or from the hoardes of the shambling undead. That means that moving through the city looking for a safe haven or escape is incredibly difficult.

---

A few creatures we may encounter:

-Zombie: A basic, reanimated corpse. You should know how these guys work by now.

-Ma-39 Cerberus: A reanimated dog, whose flesh has begun rapid decay. Fast and deadly in packs.

-Licker: A g-virus infused creature, the licker is a stealthy and deadly enemy which can attack with its sharp claws or its tongue. The g-virus inside of it make it susceptible to chemical based evolution.

-Ma-121 Hunter: One of the most successful and marketable B.O.W.s, the hunter series is an incredibly varied but equally dangerous creation. Mostly based on reptile and amphibian DNA, these grown monsters can take on different traits.

-Eliminator: an early testing prototype of the original t-virus, eliminators are still used in lieu of human subjects (at least, with Triton) to test aggression and reanimation in mammalian species.

-Giant Spider: An accidental creation due to mishandled chemicals, giant spiders are creatures with almost 1000% growth rate and are incredibly deadly and stealthy. They tend to live in dark climates, such as caves or sewers.

-Plague Crawler: One of the very first t-virus creations, again the plague crawlers created by Triton are accidental, and have bred in the sewers and cave systems.

-FL-03: Neptune: A remnant of the Arklay experiments, the Neptune series are great white sharks infected with the t-virus to create a larger, more deadly marine weapon. A fully sized neptune can rival the extinct megaladon in size.

Character Creation:

In this RP, you will take the role of a civilian survivor in Parris City. Your occupation will determine your skills.

Occupations:
Medical (Doctors, nurses, veterinarians, etc)
Technical: (Mechanics, plumbers, electrical engineers)
Service: ( Waiters, clerks, ect)
Combat: (Police, BSAA, Military) <LOCKED>

Why is combat locked? Because everyone will choose it of course. Seriously. Every RE rp I do, everyone wants to be the guy with the machine gun. So I'd rather just restrict it.

Character Sheet (beta):

Name:
Age: (18+ please. No wunderkinds please)
Gender:
Occupation: (Give a specific occupation and the area it is in. You cannot choose a combat occupation.)
Appearance: (I prefer you write it out. You may also use a picture ALONGSIDE a written description))
Short Bio and personality:
(More can be added/removed depending on discussion)

So, what do the occupation areas do? Well, it determines what skills your character has. Medical means you are capable of making healing items (mixed herbs) as well as helping wounded characters. Technical means you're good at repairing broken things, and combining items. Service is a jack of all trades class. And combat means an expertise in using weapons like firearms.

Also, occupations can be added, different skills can be done as seen fit by me and the co-gm. This is more of a basic overview anyway.

On the subject of infection:

Since RE Outbreak dealt with active infection (slowly killing you over the level) I feel that it'd be better to just deal with dormant infection: everyone is infected but will only "turn" if killed. That way I don't have to keep up with any numbers.

But why can't I be in the BSAA!?

Because this:

You can't be like that guy. No one knows how he got so big and fire retardant.

No matter what people say, they always try to be him. So I'm not giving anyone the chance. There is one BSAA agent PC, and that person belongs to the Co-GM and someone who I have roleplayed this genre with countless times. They know the rules because they helped me create these rules I RP by.

Anyways! I'm opening this up for ideas, suggestions, interest, etc.

Wubba lubba dub dubs!
I'm just gonna post it in the casual interest check. I have a feeling i'll find more interest there!
Yo RPGuild. It's been a while since I've come out and placed some interest checks for a roleplay. And it's been even longer that I've been hankering for some good old fashioned, T-Virus infected zombies.

I'm shooting for a mid to high casual roleplay with an emphasis on survival and horror. See those flavor text tags? I'm serious about both of them. A good RE Outbreak style RP would follow doctors, waitresses, mechanics, workers of all trades. People who may not be used to holding a pistol or a shotgun.

BUT WAIT! You whine. I wanna be a super soldier with the t-virus infecting his arm that gives him super jumps and he's immune to the virus and he has a katana!

To that I say, "GET THAT WEAK SHIT OUT OF HERE."

Seriously. Most combat encounters would be more like this:

See? George has a rusty metal pipe and his dumb doctor brains are probably gonna get gnawed by that zombie. That's what i'm goin' for here!

The question is; are you, the interested audience, willing to play ball for a chance at reliving some classic survival horror? And if so, pitch some ideas! What would fit best? (Raccoon City? Post-Umbrella? New timeline?) Where should the setting be?

And, how will we determine encounters with zombies?

So, let's hear some interest, ideas, questions, etc. I mean, at the moment I already have an entire scenario built. I can just pull from that. But since this is the most general and open interest area, I thought i'd open it to the floor.
So uh...everyone still alive? Everyone still interested in this?
Hmm...I might have to make another post soon if everything remains quiet. Dangs.
*kicks the topic back up to the front page* I hope everyone's week is going good!

Shes just gonna say... no one wait for her to post, please. Shes writers blocking so hard she might as well be mashing her face against the keyboard every time she tries to write something. Getting rather irritated with her inability to write anything halfway decent now.

Take your time. I promise we're not going to prod you to post. If you wanna wait, we can continue on and let you intro into events at your leisure. No stress! I promise

Yeah, but shes getting hung up on what to have her...actually do. Whats the city like, like what kind of stuffs in it? Might help knowing whats around.

I like to describe Dun as Belgium in the swamp, because Gowi's pulled lots of French and German ideas for architecture and culture, with some spice from Louisiana and the Mississippi Basin for flavor. The other major inspiration point comes from two cities in the game Elder Scrolls Oblivion, the cities Bravil and Leyawinn were both big inspirations for the country.

For Dunric itself, the city is quite large, and is built on an island. Only way to get to the city is by bridge or ferry. The streets are still made of stone, and most houses have a stone first story with wooden second and third stories. Arched roofs, chimney tops, etc.

There's a large shipping port on the eastern side of Dunric, as the east side of the city faces the bay (which leads into the sea). The eastern side and outer areas are also more of poor districts, houses are shoddier made, and the taverns, bars, shops and such are slightly seedier. This is still sort of a frontier country and people are less proper and more surly than the richer, more developed countries. The further center to town the better the architecture gets, the richer the blood gets, and you find places like the Overseer's office (which is basically a governor's office with several smaller offices for city officials).

You'll also find the Chapel of Infinity, the most popular deity in the area. It's probably still in the midst of being rebuilt since it was burnt the previous summer.

To be honest, Dunric is the city where you'll find anything you're looking for. Illegal items, posions, weapons you'll find in the lowtown, fancy clothes, new technology imported from the colonies will probably be in the upper town. There's probably a railway station somewhere as well, but I don't think Gowi and I have discussed which bridge is the railbridge into the city.

Lemme break it down easier:

North, South and West: Bridges into the city. One bridge is for rail, the other two bridges are for on foot travel or for carts.

Eastern side is the port.

Outer rim of the city is the poorer quarter, some traveler's inns, bars, etc. The worst/surliest areas would be on the eastern port side, due to the nature of sailors.

Inner part of the city is fancier places, offices of government, etc.

Architecture is a marriage of French and German architecture. Gowi has a pretty good ref picture in his opening post on what most streets look like.

Hope I was sorta helpful!

*edit:
An idea I had was that the North and South bridges are both rail bridges and that the train runs through the city, but i'll have to talk to ol' Gowi about that when he gets on/when I get back from a theater production.
