Current You'd think after like 15 years I'd stop feeling like a fraud when writing posts but I still do which is both a statement on my self confidence and a compliment to how good my partners are as writers

@Masaki Haruna You want me to drop a CS here or just like plant a concept
On Basilisk Station because I'm getting back into the Honorverse
Words cannot describe how disappointed and sickened I am with my own species.

I live in world where it is socially acceptable to sexually harass and rape a woman, and threaten women with sexual violence and even death over something as simple as video games.

What world is this because I'm not sure it's this one.

This is a world where a woman is not allowed to exist without the threat of rape, torture and death looming over them if they dare to speak out.

Do you need a wormhole to leave this horrible world? It's better here.

Your problem with tales stems from your much much larger issues with JRPGS in general.

No, it stems from Tales games being terrible, cliche ridden, unoriginal, boring, bland bad pieces of shit games.

Tales has superior combat and characterisation to Final Fantasy.

The only thing Tales has is its combat system and it's not even great at that. Tales is the JRPG series for people that think anime is the maturest form of story telling.

Dragon Quest is boring repetetive and stupid, people only like it because it's mildly self aware and not final fantasy.

Dunno why you're bringing up Dragon Quest but any Dragon Quest game is better than any Tales game by a country mile.

Phantasy Star isnt even worth mentioning but all those games suck.

Phantasy Star 4 is a fantastic game.

Whats another JRPG? Skies of Arcadia? pfft.

Any SMT game. Chrono Trigger/Cross. Suikoden 1, 2, and 5. Parasite Eve. Illusion of Gaia. The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door. Rogue Galaxy. Breath of Fire 2, 3, 4. Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete. Grandia 1 and 2. Nier.

All Ace Combat games are good, they are too similar for any of them to stand out as bad, ditto for Ridge.

I mean, if you can say Dragon Age is shit then I can just say Ace Combat and Ridge Racer are shit too.

They made 3 red alerts which is 3 too many, stupid RTS for morons who like cable tv crap.

I bet you thought the story was serious. While not as great as regular ass C&C, Red Alert is still great.

Calling Star Ocean mediocre is rich coming from someone who considers Syndicate Wars to be a superb game.

Because it is? You know what game in the Star Ocean series people like? 2. Because it's the only one that isn't fucking dogshit. Syndicate Wars is great, with a great atmosphere and setting and mechanics that were solid in its day. Star Ocean is a bad series and somehow the newest one is even worse than 4.

Soul calibur is a better fighting game than def jam.

Soul Calibur has had 5 games and they're all junk. Def Jam is hardly a fighting game, it's an action brawler like a wrestling game. If you wanna say it's better than Def Jam Icon then yeah, but Icon is hot garbage.

@Fabricant451

Dragon Age is shit.

I disagree.

Most of those games are just alright or 'good'.

I disagree.

Red Alert is a bad joke that never died.

They stopped making them.

BulletStorm is crap.

I disagree

Tales games are high quality, even if they arent your cup of tea, you cant say they are 'bad' games.

I can, have, do, and will. Tales games are bad. There has never been a good Tales game.

But I was thinking of Star Ocean and Nino Kuni.

Oh yeah Star Ocean there's a series that has never gotten out of the mediocre hole. Ni No Kuni is pretty and that's all it is; not to mention it didn't know how to end itself.

Non-RPG examples are Ace Combat, Ridge Racer, Soul Calibur, Dark Souls 2 etc.

Ace Combat hasn't been good since Zero. Ridge Racer since longer than that. Soul Calibur never and Dark Souls 2 is the literal worst one in the series and it's a bad game.

I honestly cant name one superb or even 'very good' EA game.

Dead Space, Dead Space 2, Mirror's Edge, Burnout 3, Burnout Paradise, Command and Conquer Red Alert, Dragon Age Origins, Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3, The Sims 2, Syndicate Wars, SSX Tricky, SSX 3, Sim City 2000, Rock Band 2, Bulletstorm, Def Jam Fight for NY, Freedom Force, Shogun Total War, Skate 2, System Shock 2.

I cant even think of any other non-sports EA games. Oh well there is those god awful dragon age games, but the less said about them the better....

Dragon AGe Origins is good.

Namco Bandai knock out a lot of respectable RPGs which are by no means excellent, but not offensive and obviously Tekken and what not. I'd call them a good publisher and a good dev.

I really hope you don't mean the Tales games because I can't.

EA isn't a better dev than Ubisoft; EA is a better publisher.

I'm curious, though, who is a good publisher? Namco-Bandai? Because I'd say EA has a better track record than Namco-Bandai. EA has had a bad year this year, what with Unravel and Mirror's Edge Catalyst, but they're still a good publisher and no publisher has a flawless record anyway. EA was an easy target for hatred because of DLC and other 'controversies' but sports and Battlefield 4's fiasco is just one part of the EA pie. I'm not saying they're the top of the list, but they're solidly in middle of the road territory when it comes to modern game releases.
As someone who has purchased a fair amount of...stuff, I'd rather bring up a top or whatever Beyblade is than some other stuff.
Firefly is so beloved because people think Joss Whedon is good for some reason. But even still there's quite the difference between a shitty cult sci fi show and a shit anime show. Anime fandoms don't really have catchy names as beacons other than people going around calling someone Narutards or whatever; there's no browncoat version of an AoT fan. The Firefly fandom is a fandom built out of a desire for what will never happen and they don't do much other than re-watch the show and continue posting in their small circle. I have no doubt that there's still a community of people that care about AoT for some reason - hell they just released a boring game to give the fans something to do - but the series is in hibernation and anime weebs don't have the same 'single show' mentality. Nor do a lot of western cartoons, really. Just try and find the overlap between MLP fans and like Steven Universe fans and as one shrank in popularity the other did rise.

And even still, people can be fans of something without 'sticking with it'.

DBZ still has fans but DBZ finally has new content and just had to survive on crappy games telling the same stories. Less vocal doesn't mean not there. But while there are probably some AoT fans out there, the name of the weeb game these days is just flash in the pan shows every season.

True Detective though...ehhhhhhhh. One acclaimed season does not a legacy create. Having recently watched Breaking Bad for the first time, that show doesn't even stay consistent in quality throughout. I wouldn't say that television shows across the board are mediocre, but there's a certain...water cooler-ness quality to shows that doesn't always mesh well.
Yeah but Beyblade is a commercial for a product that you can bring up to a counter without looking around to see who's watching.
