NERO KAYAKOS

Sometimes, it seems like it takes forever to get anything done.

He got into this whole thing to take some revenge, turn everything back on the Ascendancy and make Earth lose more than face for the war. The right people didn't die, and they needed it badly. That was Nero's goal, in the end. He had a list of names, and that's all he really cared about. Sometimes, he memorized a few extra names to that list, but he was alot more interested in taking them down. Moonstrike seemed like a good way to get started, but they were getting stalled. With this blow to their group and people going off to help those closest to them... What a pain in the ass.

Inside his room, Nero lay back on his bed, listening to the music on his player while he stared lazily up at the ceiling. Every time he thought about the situations breaking off bits and pieces of their group, he got a little more frustrated. The only people he could depend upon, and they couldn't stay the course. He grumbled to himself in frustration.

Family... What good has family ever been? If they were worth anything, they wouldn't subject you to this shit in the first place.

He held up his hand, and recited the names to himself, activating the Black Spot for just a second to see if he had any bearing on those he wanted to kill. Everybody else seemed a little lost, while he remained focused on what was important, or at least what was important to him. He didn't speak any of the names of Squad 0 because they apparently had the means to get a bead on him, and that wasn't good. Nero wasn't gonna be the cause of yet another spanner in the works. Speaking of which, a meeting was soon called by the Captain, except it wasn't the Captain. It was Joey Shitburger, the interloper who probably made it very easy to decide whether people should go or not by being a smarmy pain in the ass. What followed, though, was unexpected...

First of all, the damn unnecessary punishment was lifted. Good start, considering the fact that they had worse things to handle now. Joey's personal outing of Nero's activities in defiance of that punishment was met with a 'Fuck you too.' smile as he let the blondy try and get out of the hole he'd been digging. Admitting he'd failed like he was obviously going to fail wasn't bad either. What they needed, after that fiasco on the station, was someone backing up the various marines and trying to stick it immediately to those really responsible, like all those suspicious characters that were met that day. Nero could still feel the weird feeling of that other shadow user that attacked him. The next part was a blank-slate order to drop the shipwide hostilities. Not that there'd been any overt attacks, but harsh words and undermining of authority HAD occurred, obviously.

"Tch... Come on, if I was really angry, you know I'd just kill you."

And he meant it, too. The fact is that Joey never really made the list. Oh, he was tempted, but it'd be counter-productive to cause shipwide drama of that scale over what that jackass was pulling. So, Nero hadn't been planning anything unless he had good reason to leave the Xuanxang. Because, despite all that'd been going on, it was still better than his time in the Ascendancy. The meeting moved on to reveal that one part of their last discussion - Shineyd - had been freed, and that this newcomer would be arriving herself at some point, probably in line with their modified plan. There were several parts of it, the part that Nero was focused on was that of hunting down the pirates. Yeah, there could be a great deal of use for him in the section involving the Tipper, but what Nero wanted to do was follow in the footsteps of one Doomish Slayer Guy...and Rip And Tear.

The Anonymous Tipper mission and the Civil War mission were of no import to him, only the pirate mission, and the fact that there was probably gonna be a trap laid of some kind that they couldn't afford to be sprung on them. THAT was where he would come in, to find out what it was, provide the escape route, to thwart it, etc. He knew traps. He'd seen a million of 'em in the war and pretended to spring them in order to lure out the enemy and kill 'em. Pirates were clever, but he was about to 'Out-Arrr' those mateys! The only other thing in the meeting of any importance was the part about search-and-rescue for any family members, the reason some of their team left already. Nero had only one thing to say about that.

"Well, I don't have any family, so if you see anyone claiming to be mine, it's a trap and you'd better kill them immediately."

This was so nobody accidentally rescued whoever might claim to be his parents. If they were alive, they could kill 'em and he wouldn't have to worry about ever hearing from those assholes. It'd be hilarious if they thought they were gonna be spared, and then he outed them as spies and had them shot! Nero chuckled at the thought as the meeting was adjourned, and he was about to go off and prepare when he heard Nirrti - their independent battle machine - speak up suddenly. The request suddenly gave him an idea, and he said "Hold on a second! I got something!" before running off very rapidly towards their armory before coming back with the Plasma Flamethrower. The back-mounted tank, the industrial-grade hose, and the rifle-like output was probably not perfect, but modifications could be made, right?

"Try this. I pulled it off of some die-hard merc when we were on board an enemy ship. I like it, but it's not that useful to me on a mission."

It's about as anti-shadow-stealth as you can get, so he figured that a combat machine like Nirrti would make MUCH better use of it. And once they were all prepared, Nero would be heading off on his pirate adventure!

@Zapdos

It's alright, man. I didn't have the particular type of character you wanted on standby because I was essentially trying to scratch a very particular itch that doesn't quite fit in here. Sometimes, you feel the need to give certain ideas, themes, or characters exercise if you haven't used 'em lately, and that's basically what I was feeling. It has little to do with trying to outshine anyone because I was just trying to plug in characters I'd already designed and see if they worked or not. For reasons that are valid for your RP, though, they do not, and that's fine. You guys have fun.
@Zapdos

Here. Try this on for size.

@Zapdos

I'll read, I'll write, and we'll see.
@Zapdos

Is it too late now, or can I pull out another? I've got the son of a villain mastermind (The villain has no powers. He's just mad.) who might work.
@Zapdos

Heyo! Pretty tempted here, but what I want to put in here may or may not work, because of the plot of the virus crossed with this has alot to do with time. A while back (I don't exactly remember when.), I started experimenting with a character whose life in crime-fighting was an experiment of the practical ups-and-downs of having time-related powers. (It was inspired by The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, among other things.) That was how I came to make Chronos, and then I made not only her alternate self (Timekiller), but a slew of other characters that were essentially the same person with somewhat-differently-nuanced time abilities and skills, each one hailing from another timeline where things are radically different. Because of the virus that killed off the supers, the time-related hero of this universe would've been killed, as well. So, unless you'd allow this one to have managed to use her power to 'skip' the virus, I dunno if I can use this one.

I could probably come up with something else, though, if we're lacking a particular dynamic. Let me know!
@VeyrinDay No tabletop.

I assume adapting Grunkle into a freeform character as I've been doing does work, then?
As a fan of stories where 'What the hell is going on?' is half the fun of the game, you have my interest. Further, it allows me to pretty much pull out any bunch of characters who has had anything time-and-space happen to them for this. This includes, but is not limited to...

Grunkhouser (Grunkle) Bane - An educated Gnoll Barbarian from a D&D-style world whose god is a deified Bob Ross.
Mirai/Raimi Saito - One of several iterations of a time-travel-based super heroine, essentially 'The Girl Who Punched Through Time'.
Daryl Forcen - The alchemist/inventor from a mythical archipelago currently entrenched in a war against demons.
Sara Amberdine - The half-human daughter of a Great Old One working for the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense.
Sturmen Drangen - A two-headed Jabberwock creature hailing from a world of over-the-top powers and items.

(Anyone interested in tailoring what I should play as, please make a vote with a mention to me.)
All of his zen meditation had not dulled Wu-Han's ability to come to a quick decision. With them standing in this alley that Niko was certain wouldn't conceal them for very long, the former assassin pointed towards a disused Mahjong Parlor and he nodded in agreement. A Mahjong place - abandoned or not - may've seemed a bit on the nose, but it was every bit as possible anyone looking around would think 'Nah, they wouldn't be in there.' if the place was spotted. In any case, Niko re-secured the door with a heavy Mahjong table wedged against it and made sure that there wasn't any way of anyone looking in before getting down to the matter at hand.

This place had, of course, seen better times. It may've even been a den for the Wuye-ying, at some point. No matter. What it was...was unoccupied, out of the public eye, and quiet in comparison to being exposed outside, so now they could talk and think. Han explained that the Wuye-ying operated in this town (and others on Earth, presumably) under such originally-named businesses as the White Lotus Shipping and Black Lotus Estates. As he finished naming those places, Niko felt that the secrecy of the Wuye-ying was perhaps based more on intimidating people to not talk, rather than subtlety. This place wasn't even a Chinese town! Of course, since they worked with the MMC, they wouldn't exactly NEED to hide...

Still, that was the situation, and they were probably closer to the Black Lotus than the white one. Unfortunately, as it was a Real Estate office, that meant their choice location for hiding out would be...anywhere there was real estate, and...well...that was everywhere. Fortunately, and possibly because he wanted them to walk into what was presumably a trap, Goda had stated that he was at 'the office'. This could've been a lie, and that they were meant to fall prey to something there with him absent, but then even if so, that lead would net them other leads.

"Alright, so the main thing we need is to know where that location is, and also some way to travel the city safely. We won't be able to do this if we head there and about a million cops follow. Fortunately, we have an asset that will help us with that."

He indicated the cellphone in Wu's hand.

"That will have city maps on the local network. We can get around without getting lost. The only problem is that we don't want the authorities dogging us, and even though we're strong, I want to approach this a little carefully, since we know it's probably a trap and we don't want Goda to bail. So, we have some options."

Niko began to count these off with his fingers, as he was coming up with them fairly quickly. His experience in espionage was really going to come in handy right now, even with limited resources.

"Option One, we take to the rooftops and limit possible surveilance to anything setup in the air, which there will be some, but not as much as literally the entire population of this city, with plenty of cops on the ground. If we need a distraction to confuse, say, a patrolling helicopter, I toss a Capsule and a car crashes somewhere, drawing attention elsewhere."

His projection for success on that was...middling. They had no idea how many air vehicles or surveillance drones there were here. Could be alot.

"Option Two, we delve underground into the utilities - probably the sewers - and navigate completely by GPS on the phone. It's probably not going to be traced - unless by Goda - if it's on, so the worst thing that could happen is that our enemy knows we're coming and is fully-prepared."

Niko wanted to avoid that if he could. A quick check of the maps, and then off goes the phone would be preferred.

"Finally, Option Three. We find some means of disguising ourselves to keep us from looking the way we do - faces included - and then we use one of these Capsule cars to just drive near the location before scoping it out."

He honestly like this one the most. No one would give them another look if they had a change of clothes and some way of looking less like the men on the wanted posters. With no pressure on them, they could do what they wanted and focus on the Wuye-ying themselves.
@Balthazar007 Well, if you become busy and can't by the weekend, I will do something. I can do the input.
