Keen to get her first Pokémon journey underway, Melody had awoken at the crack of dawn full of energy and ready to get a move on. Her parents had offered to drive her to Sandgem Town to meet up with her friend Shin, and his other friends who Melody was looking forward to going on this summer adventure with. But, she'd opposed the lift in favor of riding Arcanine-back to Sandgem on her own. She normally spent the bulk of her summer doing deliveries with her dad across the region, but this year she wouldn't get the pleasure of being able to ride around as much as she was accustomed to. In fact, while her dad had offered to allow her to keep one of his Arcanine for her journey, she had declined his offer. Which is something she realized she'd probably come to regret down the road as she wasn't the fondest of traveling with only her own two legs being the mode of transportation. But, if no one else in the group was going to be given the luxury of having their own personal poké rides then neither would she.

Her mother had spent the night before this morning packing Melody a bag of everything she felt her daughter could possibly need for her first Pokémon journey. That morning after stuffing both Melody and her Growlithe to the brim with food, Melody's parents presented Melody with a good luck gift in the form of a Poké Radar. And, after getting a quick rundown of how exactly the device worked from her father, she returned Growlithe to her pokéball, kissed and bid farewell to her parents, and got on the road with the bag her mother had stayed up getting ready for her the night before.

She wasn't sure how long she'd been riding for when she realized she was at the end of and coming upon Sandgem Town."Slow it down Arcanine," Melody directed the fire-type canine as they entered the town. Obeying the directive of his rider, Arcanine promptly slowed his run into a padded walk as Melody's eyes scanned their surroundings. "Shin!" Melody shouted in excitement as her cerulean sea blue eyes fell upon one of her best friends from training school. Motioning Arcanine to walk over to where Shin stood, she dismounted gleefully once she was where she wanted Arcanine to be. "Morning All!" Melody spoke in greeting to Shin and the pink-haired fellow standing with him.

I'd appreciate it if you only had 1 pokemon to start with but it probably won't matter that much in the long run. So, you're good to move it to the character tab.

I edited my character sheet, so now Melody just has her Growlithe and moved her to the character tab.

Wouldn’t Melody want to train water type Pokémon? :P And how did Ariel become a Growlithe breeder?

Little Mermaid was my childhood obsession, and I watched little Mermaid 2 many times as a kid. I even had a Melody doll.

Melody should definitely be a Misty-like kind of trainer, but . . . I've always been really fond of the fire-type Pokémon. So, her first people had to be a fire-type for me. 🤷‍♀️ Which is also the sole reason Ariel is a Growlithe breeder.

Personally, I don't feel like sequel Disney movies get the love that they deserve. I love both the Little Mermaid 2, the Lion King 2, and Stitch has a Glitch far more than their predecessors. I also really enjoy the 2 Tarzan and Lady and the Tramp movies. Disney has some amazing sequels under its belt that get crazy overlooked.

A Sinnoh region native, Melody's family is situated in a place known for its honey and the vividly scented flowers that grow everywhere; Floaroma Town. Her mother, Ariel, is a pokémon breeder; explicitly a Growlithe breeder. Ariel's job is to hatch, care for, and raise the young Pokémon until they are ready and old enough to be evaluated and recruited by police forces across the Sinnoh, Kanto, and Hoenn regions. Those selected are then bought and taken to training schools where they are trained to be future police dogs. Those who are not taken by the police, are instead made a part of Melody's father's workforce. Melody's father, Eric, owns and operates a courier service that transports goods to every inch of the Sinnoh region. How these goods get transported are with the aid of Arcanines. Eric obtains these Pokémon by evolving the Growlithe that don't pass their evaluations and aren't taken to the training schools to become police dogs. Instead, they are trained to become courier canines.

Melody took an interest in both of her parent's careers as a child. Initially, in the early years of her life, she found the Arcanine her father trained to be rather intimidating and thus favored spending time in the nursery watching after the eggs in her mother's care. Raising the hatchlings alongside her mother was also fun, but she didn't really like to do it as she couldn't keep herself from getting attached to the pokémon and would cry for days on end when it came time for the pups to move on to the next phase of their lives. Eventually, when Melody was five, her parents helped her get over her fear of Arcanines and her father even taught her how to ride. Skipping over learning how to ride a bike, Arcanine-back quickly became her favorite mode of transportation — even riding them to Jubilife City when she started going to the Trainers' School.

When she was eight, she started accompanying her dad on trips throughout the region. The exposure she got to the rest of the region through these travels is what piqued her interest in exploration. On these excursions outside of her hometown and schooling city of Jubilife, Melody got an idea of just how vast the world at large was and she wanted to see it all. Attending a slew of Sinnoh competitions, her favorites being the Squallville PokéRinger, Pokémon Iceberg Race, and the Sinnoh Grand Festival; Melody got to see and meet trainers and Pokémon from all over the world. Which only fueled her desire to travel even more. Once she turned ten and was able to officially get her starter Pokémon, Melody quickly realized that although she knew that she wanted to be a trainer and travel the world; she knew little more than that. She wasn't sure what kind of Pokémon trainer she wanted to be. There were times after watching a Pokémon Contest that Melody was sure that she wanted to be a Pokémon coordinator. Then other times she'd watch two trainers have a battle and be sure that that was the kind of trainer she wanted to be. Not being able to make a decisive decision on the matter is what has kept Melody from starting her Pokémon journey. Opting to put off receiving her starter Pokémon from Professor Rowan until she fully mulled over her options and made a fixed decision. It's been a year since then, and Melody is still living at home, working with her parents, and going to school.

Disappointing? Yes. However, the silver lining to come out of her indecisiveness was her reluctantly bonding with one of her mother's Growlithe, subsequentially obtaining her first Pokémon in the process. Melody had planned to spend this summer as she had every summer in the past; enjoying a week at Professor Rowan's Summer Academy and working with her parents, with the added fun of training her first Pokémon. However, this summer, she is being presented with an opportunity that has her ready to finally start her Pokémon journey. Her friend Shin, has come up with an idea that has left Melody salivating in excitement. A summer of exploration. Exploring every corner of the world, whilst catching every under the sun. While usually, Melody would spend the summer working alongside her parents and — Melody was beyond intrigued by the prospect of a summer expedition with a potentially high chance of making some new friends. So, she agreed. Even though she is still unsure of what path she wants to take as a Pokémon trainer; she's has come to realize that she won't ever make a conclusive decision just sitting idly by at home. Adventure is calling and she's finally ready to answer the call!

Melody comes from a rich family. The bulk of the family's riches comes from her father's courier service; Searing Shot Deliveries. The most well-known and used courier service in all of the Sinnoh region. The company's headquarters is situated in Jubilife City.
Her Home
Melody is not used to traveling far distances on foot. She was practically raised on the back of an Arcanine and because of this, she isn't accustomed to having to get to faraway places with the use of only her two legs. Once her feet start to get annoying sore, her mood begins to noticeably sour.
Melody has attended the Pokémon Summer Academy led by Professor Rowan and his assistants every summer since she was seven. She was supposed to be attending it this year but decided against it in favor of joining Shin on this adventure with the Pokédex.
