Man I'm having a horrible writers block right now- Basically want my first post to have Flay, a dabbler in dark arts hear word of a Somnambulist having visions of the old Salished Kings death, as the news spreads mercenaries (really nasty ones, beastkin, outlaws, crazies and criminals) consider flocking to the Rainlands in the event of civil war. If nobody hires them to fight, they might just turn to good old fashioned banditry.

No worries, take your time. I'm plugging away at my post too which is going slow but steady. But slow.
Post two should be up sometime tonight. Expect some more exposition on the current state of the Salished Dominion.

Ditto from me, sorry it's taken me a bit to get my post up.
Hey all,

I'm back. If your NS is in the Character tab, please get working on those IC posts- no need to wait till you've finished your NS, which you can keep working on at your leisure. We want to get the IC up and running ASAP, so post away!

I'm going to throw up a few posts over the next couple of days, and then once most folks have gotten an IC intro up, I will begin with a series of posts that will affect everyone.

Sound good?

*falls to his knees* Why did no one tell me this existed!

We are still open for business, my friend.
Hey team,

I will be away most of this weekend but back in action on Monday. If you've been accepted feel free to write up an intro post!
Are we allowed to have spinxs in our empire? or are they more an NPC guardian race. Im thinking of making a civilization that involves them.

If not, I will play some kind of horrifying abhuman fish people who want to ground people up into fertilizer for some kind of flesh forest. Because they believe humanity doing so would make the world a happier place.

you are allowed to have sphinx, but with the understanding that they are relatively rare and relatively hard to maintain.
Well this has my interest. I'll start working on a sheet soon if you'll have me.

go for it.
The Drathan Union

From Wisdom, Power. From Power, Right.

Government Type: Mageocratic oligarchy & confederation of independent city-states

Faction Specie(s):
    Drathans (ruling class)
    Humans
    Abhumans
    Beastkin
Nyr'Kiin are farmed for use as slaves and as food by Drathan mages.

Location: Along the Ashen Coast

Important Cities:
    Zar Dratha
    Archeos, the Silent City
    Zar Varyon

Important Holdings:
    Zar Mythrad
    Zar Pellos
    Lake Ungol

Faction Religion/Ideology: Almost all religions and systems of belief are tolerated by the Masters, who are generally aloof rulers disinterested in the lives of their subordinates. Many of the human slaves and subject peoples of the Union worship local Red Gods. The Dratha themselves are famously impious and hold most religions in contempt as mere superstition and obstacles to clear understanding. The bedrock of the Drathan moral code is that if you are powerful enough to do something and get away with it, you have a right to do it.

Faction Description:

A collection of city states and several lesser towns located throughout the Ashlands and Cinderlands, the Union is governed by the (often fractious) Congress of Masters, a coalition of extremely powerful mages hailing from the Great-Clans of the Dratha. Magical inquiry thrives among the elite denizens of the Union, which is home to many of the most celebrated libraries and arcanums in known world. All forms of magic, including necromancy, blood magic, and the other branches of dark arts are permitted and indeed actively studied in the Union.

Except for the relatively small members of the exclusively Drathan ruling caste, the denizens of the Union are deprived any of political participation, though the Masters are generally laissez-faire rulers, interested more in their arcane pursuits than actually governing and disinterested in the religion, mores or associations of their subjects. Most subjects of the Union are slaves, fishermen and grub-farmers toiling in the ashen mudflats along the Bay of Teeth, though there is a strong middle and upper middle class of artisans and merchants who appreciate the protection and low taxes afforded by the Masters.

Militarily, the Union relies on hordes of slave-soldiers, mostly beastkin and mutants purchased by the Masters from the slaver-tribes wandering the Ashlands. Technologically backwards and badly led, the armies of the Union do benefit from huge numbers and from small numbers of powerful magic weilders.

Faction History: (WIP)

Important Characters: (WIP)
Khalul the Magnificent, Archmagister of the Congress of Masters

Kai daz Syfo, Magistrix of Zar Varyon

Athalus Velym, Magister of Zar Mythrad

Qux Many Eyed, Representative of Archeos to the Congress of Masters

    Gabul the Wanderer

    The Ashen King

Urzok the Cruel, Cheiftan of the Red Hand Slaver-Tribe

Relation to other Factions: (WIP)
@Vahir NS is looking awesome dude. Accepted. Will have time to read in detail tomorrow and will send you any questions or critiques I find.
I have a question; I plan on playing a nation of Nyr'kiin but I'm curious as to what their hives are like. As in, are they just large cities? Or are they more like an actual beehive or ant colony? Are thry made of stone/wood/whatever or more organic materials (again, kinda like a beehive)?

You'd have significant creative leeway with this. Their ancient hives are like giant termite hives, and many of these still exist, either as ruins or as shadows of their former selves. At the same time, Nyr'kiin exist in (ab)human and beastkin societies and cities too, so they can live in more normal cities. An all Nyr'kiin faction would likely live in an ancient hive- but one that is significantly diminished from its former glory under the Queens.

Also worth noting, that I am okay with the Nyr'kiin being an umbrella term for a number of related insectoid species, so you could customize your bugs a bit, within reason. I envision them looking a bit like the prawns from District 9.
Hi!

I'd like to ask if anyone has Reserved the 'Rainlands' for a nation's location? I've read all the nations but I've yet seen one, still, I thought it might be better to ask.

I have an idea for a nation whose namesake commodity in trade deals with an unassuming item: Pure water and a bit of byproduct. Presumably that it rains constantly somewhere in the Rainlands, that is.

The other details of this nation, it's culture, it's livelihoods, I'll keep it to myself till I can actually publish it. :).

The Salished Empire, the dominant (if failing) power of the RP is located in the Rainlands.
