The criminal was not at all surprised by the offer, since it was what he had been expecting when his debt was called in by this guy. He could, at the very least, appreciate the fact that they were going with the carrot first, mostly like because he had been willing to show up rather than making them come for him. He had no doubt that it would have been otherwise in that situation.

But before he could say anything h found that they had a rude interruption, some other Epic appearing to crash the party and suddenly casting a ring of grenades into existence. He eyed them nonchalantly, a clear disdain born of recognition that there wasn't much he could do if they did go off. His thing was glass, not being explosion or shrapnel proof. Besides, he figured his current companion with apparent disintegration powers would have something to say about that.

"Wow, someone is trying impressively hard to be edgy and dark," he commented aloud with a glance towards Guilt. "Compensating, I assume."

Of course the grenades were a distraction from the incoming Phantom, but he quickly became aware of that as he was pulled by the same unseen force currently creating that debris cloud into the very cloud itself. Maybe his power was some kind of telekinesis? There wasn't enough evidence to be sure yet.

That left him next to the man in the suit and Oni mask, who indicated the obvious result of refusing to go along with what he and his little group of revolutionaries had in mind. He assumed they were revolutionaries anyway, though the breed had yet to be determined. But given his occupation and his situation, he supposed it didn't matter that much so long as he wasn't one of the ones getting trampled in that revolution.

After a moment he shifted the dagger that he had held previously into a thin rod, easier to carry in the current situation. "If I didn't want to accept then I would probably be out of town by now," he pointed out in return. "But you make a very persuasive argument anyways. Where do we begin?"

The aforementioned bird themed criminal found out the news when he was busy shopping, as the radio switched to emergency reports of the attack ongoing rather than the music that it had been playing before. He couldn't really blame them for that, breaking news was important after all.

"Persistent aren't they," he muttered to himself as he walked up to the register, where a small television gave some picture of what was going on. If it was related then these guys really did not get a hint did they? If they were going against the High again, or whatever.

Then his day got a whole lot worse. It came in over the audio from the attack, via whomever was just crazy enough to actually get close to the guy, and he had to do his best to keep from paling a bit. "Oh you've got to be fucking kidding me," he muttered to himself. There was no way that guy was talking about him, right? Yet there were too many details for it to be a coincidence, and he felt a growing sensation in the pit of his stomach that indicated he was in for a bad time. On the one hand, if he didn't listen and these guys found him, the guy who could disintegrate everything around him probably wouldn't be merciful. On the other hand, actually answering would put him squarely on the High's radar, and as anyone could tell you that was the bad sort of place to be.

Well, he was quite clearly coerced right? Besides, one could make the case that what he did didn't actually matter, since if they knew that this would happen then the High would have prevented it. He couldn't claim to understand the thoughts of the almighty that ruled here, but there were some things that he did know.

After a few moments of thought he turned around, and began to put away the groceries that he had been prepared to buy. Something told him that those were not going to last through the trip.

It took him a bit to get to where the man was, but he was very direct in doing so once he had donned his outfit. Stepping into sight, he walked to about the edge of where the destructive bubble was while holding a dagger made of glass in his left hand. "I can see you're the original type," he called out to try and make himself heard over the debris. "Why don't you add some tweeting while you're at it?"

Clearly he was here though, and he waited cautious for some idea of what he was supposed to do to pay off this debt to his mysterious friends. What could he do that they needed him for? He'd find out soon, he supposed.

Alicia Hayden

Alicia's efforts to free Penny were interrupted, only this time it was much more favorable than the previous interruptions today had been. "Thank you," she said to Suwako, who eased the task by using her powers to get leverage on the ball of metal from the inside and ripping it apart that way. It was much easier than trying to pry everything from the outside was.

They were in for an interesting discovery however, as it turned out that Penny was not the only one who had been trapped. Which made sense she supposed, from what she remembered of the company that Penny kept. At least she didn't seem to be that bad off, though Penny looked worse.

"Geez," Alicia said with a wince as she beheld the sight. Spoken too soon of course as flames suddenly erupted from Thalia, causing her to quickly step back as something began to happen. There was an explosion of energy and a cry to go with it, and when both had faded they found themselves confronted with yet another monster, a wolf wielding blue fire.

Quickly she strung her bow, taking aim at the rampant creature. She didn't necessarily want to hurt her, but at this point it didn't seem like they would be getting much of a choice at the moment. "Suwako, get Penny to one of the healers, they'll know what to do," she called out to hr companion. Naturally Beacon had girls who were quite adept in Reinforcement, and thy had dealt with this sort of thing before. It was the best chance that their ally had. "I'll keep her focused on me so you can get away." She didn't strike yet, but was prepared to counter whatever move Thalia made as she faced down the wolf.

The domes began to vanish one after the other, eaten away by Alicia's light magic as she poured her effort into it. This was most likely a reckless move, without knowing who else might drop in on the fight at this point. But she didn't care, and figured it would be worth it when the rest of the beacon reinforcements showed up. They would be along fairly shortly, if she had to guess.

It left her distracted a bit from what else was going on, but it was hard to miss it when Elroy approached her whilst no longer being in monster form. She faced him, bow strung and arrow at the ready even as he acted like nothing had happened, at least in manner even if he didn't look it. Then again she didn't look great either, bruises, some small cuts, and the trail of blood winding its way down her forehead not painting the prettiest of pictures. A glare was directed his way, even if she couldn't help but remember that Penny had shot first.

"Go," she snapped after a moment, nodding over her head. "I'm not responsible if you get attacked by other Beacon girls along the way." If anyone else was headed in heir direction from Beacon, they might not be as considerate as she was.

She waited until he was gone before lowering her bow and hurrying over to the mess of debris and destruction where Penny had been fighting it out with Elroy. Instead she found a metal ball where they should have been, a bunch of twisted debris and junk that had been warped and melted together. "Penny, are you in there?" she called out as she began tentatively working at the debris, trying to go at it in a way that wouldn't injure her further. "We're going to get you out of there."

"Damn High, always stealing my fame. Clearly I need to assassinate someone next time."

Finch is definitely not annoyed right now :V

"Oh you've got to be kidding me."

The criminal grumbled to himself as he watched the tv, where a news report was lovingly going over the latest fight between the High and some armored figure. Of course the guy got almost immediately teleported out of the city, but the fight was still easy enough to find if you really looked for it with how the terrain was changing. Though understandably anyone foolish enough to go looking kept far away for now.

He took a sip from a cold bottle, Finch switching channels to see if he could find a different perspective somewhere else. This couldn't be the only news out there right? And maybe someone would be just a bit critical? One could hope at least. But no, that didn't seem to be the case.

Eventually he settled down, merely fuming in his chair. "I pull off that grand abduction, then in like a day something involving the High happens and they steal the spotlight," he muttered to himself. He sure wasn't going to get it back any time soon, that was for sure. They were much too entranced with their brave leaders out defending the city or whatever. It made better news than him apparently.

"Why should I be surprised." Well, there were some things that had gone well. He had escaped and was now holed up in a small apartment with some basic creature comforts like beer. All his looking had not turned up anything on the mysterious person who had helped him so recently during his escape, not that he had tried particularly hard. Somehow he had the feeling that they would be found when they wanted to be and not a minute sooner.

Switching channels, he finally settled on some music video, technopop or whatever that certainly had a nice bass kick and not much else. "Fine, I'll just have to come up with something new then," Finch sighed, It would have to be bigger and more impressive, more attention grabbing. And ideally a bit more Epic-proof as well. Chances like the last one weren't his cup of tea.

How hard could it be?
Yup, still here and still interested. Not sure what I'll do in terms of mechs yet but I figure it can wait until we find out what sorts of dakka are available. :P
I'd be interested. Its been a while since I had some sci fi fun
I'm a fan of the way magical girls, supposed to hide their existence from the general public, are doing so much collateral damage and in one case possibly committing mass murder in order to stop a single enemy.
