Doctor Raphael Vitella and Doctor Yeoman finished their drinks before heading to the bridge. "Looks like they want everyone who ain't busy to have a say where we will be goin'. Jesus Christ. It's gonna get very hectic in there." Doctor Vitella said to Yeoman. "I wonder what our destination will be. Earth maybe?" Doctor Yeoman said to Raphael Vitella. "Earth? The lost planet is a myth. Tryin' to find it is a waste of time and resources that could be better spent findin' a planet outside of charted space for us to settle. Preferably one that already has a breathable atmosphere." Vitella replied. "Well, we can't keep flying forever. We will eventually run out of supplies and systems will inevitably break down past the point of repair." Yeoman said to Raph as they continued walking down the corridor, passing by several crewmembers who were also heading to the bridge.

"Not to mention that we are a temptin' target for pirates. They are always lookin' for vulnerable ships to plunder. Hopefully, the route to our new home won't take us through areas with high pirate activity." Doctor Raphael Vitella said to Doctor Yeoman as they headed to the nearest lift, not wanting to be late. "I hope that we don't have to take such a route, Doctor Vitella. The last thing we need is heavy casualties. Pirates have qualms about killing anyone that gets between them and anything they deem valuable enough to steal." Doctor Yeoman said to Doctor Vitella as they entered the lift with two other crewmembers.
Doctor Raphael Vitella walked down the corridor, other members of the crew moving up and down the corridor as he passed by. "Doctor Vitella." Doctor Yeoman said to Doctor Vitella as she ran up to him. "Doctor Yeoman." Raphael Vitella said to Yeoman as he walked with her. "Do you have any plans for when we reach our new home?" Yeoman asked Vitella. "I am a doctor. I will continue to perform my duties as one. I apologize if you are disappointed by that answer. I ain't a 'Big Plans' guy. Hell, I only accepted the role of Chief Medical Officer because everyone higher up the chain is bug chow." Doctor Raphael Vitella answered. "Well, I'm planning on opening my own clinic. It would be nice to have you there." Yeoman said to Raph. "You can count me in. It will be nice to walk on tile floors instead of metal ones." Doctor Vitella said to Yeoman. They continued walking until they reached a door and went inside.

"Hello. What can I get you?" A man standing behind the counter asked Raphael Vitella and Yeoman as they headed to a nearby table that was empty. "I will have water. Just water. I have to wait a while before I can drink alcohol again." Vitella answered. "I want a Twin Sunset." Yeoman answered. The man behind the counter poured water into a glass before pouring beer and fruit juice into a mug. The man behind the counter walked to them and placed their drinks on the table.
"Bridge, this is Chief Medical Officer Raphael Vitella. The Medical Bay is no longer in Triage. We've finished patching up the wounded and moved those we couldn't save to cold storage. Most of my staff will be taking the rest of the day off unless something comes up. We've earned our R&R." Doctor Raphael Vitella said to whoever was in charge before ending transmission. It was standard procedure for Chief Medical Officers to give a status update to the captain or acting captain of a vessel regarding important events.

Doctor Raphael Vitella changed into his regular clothes before heading out of the Medical Bay. Today had been his busiest day since his time on Eden Prime. He couldn't drink any alcohol until his liver had fully healed, but he could still have conversations with other members of the crew who had not headed to Cryostasis. Hopefully about things other than the Metacer. The less he thought about the devastation the Bugs have caused and will most likely cause by the time the colony ship arrives at his new homeworld, the easier it would be to remain calm while working.
"Sir, everyone who is in serious need of painkillers has received them." Doctor Ferdinand said to Doctor Raphael Vitella before tending to another patient. "Excellent." Doctor Vitella replied before grabbing some painkillers and heading to Ren. "Here. These should tide you over until we head to the nearest planet." Raphael Vitella said to Ren before heading back to tend to any patients that required his attention. "Status update." Doctor Vitella said to one of the medical personnel. "We've had a couple of fatalities, but other than that, we only need to patch up a few more patients and most of us should be able to take the rest of the day off." The subordinate replied as he looked at the list of patients. "Once everyone has been treated, any patient who doesn't need to spend at least a night in the Med-Bay is to be sent to Quarters or Cryostasis. That should free up bed for wounded medical personnel." Doctor Raphael Vitella said to the subordinate before turning his attention back to Ren.

"Do you have any skills that might be useful in the Med-Bay? I can't have you lounging around here for the entire trip." Doctor Raphael Vitella said to Ren.

@PrinceAlexus
"Look, we are in triage right now. You will have to wait until patients with more severe injuries have been treated before receiving painkillers." Doctor Raphael Vitella said to Ren before turning his attention to a patient who was flatlining, not looking at her the whole time. "Do what you can for the patient. If resuscitation fails, report time of death and move the body to cold storage before you start tending to another patient. We need to make room for any incoming patients." Doctor Vitella said to those tending to the patient before turning his attention back to Ren. "Lay down so that I can perform some scans. I need to make sure that you don't have any internal injuries." Raphael Vitella said to Ren before taking out a scanner. "No Internal Injuries detected." Raph said to Ren before walking away to tend to a patient with a large gash in the side of his arm.
"Doc, we have a lot more wounded incoming!" A member of the medical staff said to Doctor Raphael Vitella as he brought in an injured refugee. "This quickly? Somethin' must've caused whoever's in charge to step up the timetable for the evacuation." Doctor Vitella said to himself before turning his attention back to the others. "Those with easily treated wounds are to leave the Medical Bay as soon as they are patched up. We need to save beds for people with injuries that will take longer to heal when treated." Raphael said to the rest of the medical staff as he kept an eye out for anyone who might require his immediate attention. Truth be told, Vitella was out of his element. Leadership was not something he expected. As Chief Medical Officer, every mistake would be more heavily scrutinized than when he was just a doctor.

"Chief Medical Officer, come quick! His leg got sliced off above the knee by a Bug and none of the nearby guards were able to retrieve it before they were forced to retreat!" One of the female medical personnel said to Doctor Raphael Vitella as she put a soldier on an operating table. Doctor Raphael Vitella immediately headed to the table as Doctor Yeoman injected the injured guard with an anesthetic. "We will do what we can, but until we find a workin' prosthetic that fits, you ain't gonna be doin' much." Doctor Vitella said to the injured soldier as his patient went under.
"Figured as much. The sudden evacuation would've left the bureaucrats with no time to appoint someone. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't make it. Well, better get comfortable while I still have time to myself." Doctor Raphael Vitella said before walking around the Medical Bay. It was brighter and shinier and cleaner than the Med-Bay on the shipyard, its equipment looking new and unused. "Looks like they spared no expense." Doctor Vitella said to himself right before he heard footsteps. "Looks like I will need to get started earlier than expected." Raphael thought as he got to his post.

"Excuse me, Raph? Do you know where the ship's Chief Medical Officer is?" Doctor Ferdinand asked Doctor Raphael Vitella as he and several other medical personnel. "Unless the station's Chief Medical Officer is onboard, I will have to fill the role until I'm dead or the captain finds someone better." Doctor Vitella answered as he looked at his colleague. "The senior staff in administrative roles bought the farm, for lack of a better term." Doctor Ferdinand said to Raphael Vitella. "Good. When they arrive, tell them that they are to start working as soon as they can." Vitella said to Doctor Ferdinand before turning his attention to the others. "What the hell are you standin' around for? Get to work! This is triage, not a lecture!" Doctor Vitella said to the rest of the medical staff, his co-workers immediately beginning to tend to the patients in the Medical Bay.
Doctor Raphael Vitella headed deeper into the colony ship with the rest of the refugees who had already exited the boarding tunnel, amazed by what he saw. He had never been aboard a colony ship and never seen the inside of one. "Get comfortable, people. This is gonna be our home until we reach our destination." Doctor Vitella heard one of the refugees say to the others, stopping and turning around to face them. "I ain't gonna lie to y'all. The trip to humanity's new home is gonna be a long one. A lot of you will be placed in statis by the colony ship's crew to conserve resources." Raphael Vitella said to the others before continuing to follow the female Kiellar deeper into the colony ship.

"I would like to thank you for escortin' me to the Medical Bay. The sooner I can get settled in, the sooner I can begin treatin' the wounded. The Chief Medical Officer will need all the help he can get with all the injured refugees who will be coming aboard." Doctor Raphael Vitella said to the female Kiellar. He heard two pairs of footsteps in the distance.
@Bingelly
Doctor Raphael Vitella continued down the boarding tunnel as he heard footsteps behind him. His mind returned to Eden Prime for a third time. Refugees at the last spaceport on Eden Prime were being ushered onto transports by the guards, the firing of tanks and artillery echoing in the distance, ships flying off as quickly as they could reach capacity. Doctor Vitella boarded a transport and sat down at a window seat as it took off, swarms of Metacer overwhelming the defenses, the pounding of tanks and artillery growing quieter as the ship he was on rose higher into the atmosphere. He continued looking out the window as the transport headed to the nearest docking area.

Raph's mind returned to the present as he entered the modified colony ship. "This is it. The ship that will take humanity to its new home. I hoped that it would start under better circumstances, but sometimes life doesn't go the way you expect. Thank God that I am the first human they let aboard humanity's last hope." Doctor Raphael Vitella thought as he headed deeper into the colony ship.
Doctor Raphael Vitella continued heading to the colony ship as fast as he could move, arriving in time to see people trotting towards the tunnel with whatever belongings they had been able to grab. "Thank God I was able to get here before a large crowd formed. I, for one, don't want to be waitin' in a long cue when the Metacer come chargin' out of the corridors." Doctor Vitella thought to himself as he entered the passenger area, noticed the guards, and stopped. He knew that more security would arrive to maintain order when they began letting people onboard the colony ship. The evacuation of every Human and alien that had survived the Metacer invasion was too important to leave their only lifeboat poorly guarded, especially when there are Metacer aboard the Edenite military's last stronghold.

"Sounds like a certain amphibian is skippin' to the front of the line. The captain will probably chew him out for it, but that would be more pointless than throwin' rocks at a tank." Raphael Vitella thought as he heard the turning of the wheels of a scooter.
