I do agree with Yandere's sentiment that words not wording workingly do be a problem this time of year.

Scratch that, place your bets on polymarket.

Looks like I'll be working on memorial day weekend. And no, this does not mean place any bets on polymarket.

due to a typo on my part I was nearly convinced I owed the IRS nearly $3000 in excess taxes this year.

Bio

-There will be delays in replies. Largely due to working overtime, voluntary obligations; other RPs and online-things may compete for my attention.

'Bout me:
Started RPing (badly) back in '05, mostly doing nation-RPs with an emphasis on technology and strategy, later edging out to character-espionage and military-tactics before doing "less serious" character roleplays that were outside of the 2005-2008 continuity.

That's when I went to Dead-Frontier, and found the RP community there, joined a clan, did some pretty good roleplays and pretty much loosened-up my online-personality. When the clan-leader decided to move her RPs here, most of the clan followed.

Took a course in technical-writing back in '08, so now I may sometimes use the semicolon correctly.

In 2010 I dusted off the old nation-RP continuity I had, doing a few hetelia-esque RP-shenanigans there..

RP-Habbits: I tend to geek-out on little technical-details, and sometimes infer how those details would impact the background of the roleplay. Great for world-building, not so great when you had a perfectly good plotline and I just MacGyver it off the rails (though I usually er to the side of amusement, sometimes it creates very grim side-stories).

Actually, I was forgetting about Kat.

@ShiningSector Hot springs episode?

But.. there's only two active female characters in this RP...

Hi! Thank you for clicking on my thread! Let's get down to business! To defeat the huns (Also I don't check in this section a lot, if after reading you are interested, please, please, PM me; do not post here!)

*Goes to sleep without bothering to send a PM*

This has not been the first time I've made the mistake of checking 1x1 int-checks right before falling asleep from exhaustion.
Feel free to bounce anything specific off me about a week from now.
I've never been the bad guy in a RP until recently, and I must say I am enjoying it.

My character has, thus far, conspired to use dynamite to block off the exit (so the allies cannot escape), poisoned the food they will soon feast on to demoralize/fatigue their troops, and made dozens of backdeals that - when the time comes - will demolish the player-alliances. And no one knows it's me.

Life is good.

Easiest way is to rationalize their actions until their morality goes off the deep-end, then keep going into super-villain territory.

Such has resulted in characters that will sit idly by to listen to the hero's sob-story origin, then proceed to beat their skull into a urinal.

This sometimes results in a mind-screw when you discover that despite your best efforts, your villain is the most heroic and identifiable character in the RP. (which is like calling the Joker a hero for the same reasons as Red Hood)
-Example: if an alliance is so flim-flam, that a single person making a few back-deals can tear it apart, is really just a huge lie to keep people calm. Best to break the illusion before it's too late.
What are peoples opinions of Berretas

From a design, and historical standpoint... not great.

1. The slide leaves the barrel exposed, saves weight. But also means even a light bit of shooting makes it liable to burn someone. It also means a bunch more shit can get into the action (easier to examine/clean though)

2. Early production-runs had major quality defects that have tainted its image worse than the original M16s. As a gun it's supposed to go bang when you pull the trigger and have a fair chance of hitting what you're aiming at... the Berreta didn't do too great at accomplishing either.

3. It's a 9mm, but has rather lackluster magazine-capacity. This was a trade-off for making it fit better in the hand.

To its credit, it's a double action and not a double-action-only. So follow-up shots tend to be easier (than a Glock, for example, maybe... it's literally splitting hair-triggers) and even the first isn't bad if you lock the hammer.

As for Russian Rifle Accuracy issues of asshatter...
-I know your pain with my Mosin Nagant. Corrosive ammo be nasty to the newbies..

You haven't been on chat, have you?
Wicker Man (2006). It's a film that has Nicholas Cage overacting at his very highest, him threatening a woman at gunpoint over a bicycle, him punching a woman in the face, then karate kicking another, as well as him dressed as a bear punching someone and finally the immortal "NOT THE BEEEEEEESSSSSS!"

To be fair, he really thought he was saving the movie.
-Which in a Nick-cage way, he did.

Death Machine.
-Part of your 80's awareness package.

Oh, and see if you can find Dead Space (1991).
Probably not THAT weird, but a long time ago I was GMing a gritty government RP on another site, and when my back was turned for about a day two players ended up cuddling and getting rauchy in the middle of a very srs group debriefing.

o -o

I... may have done that too... depending on whose testimony you believe.

Sadly, I wasn't the weird one in those RPs. There was always someone crazier.
Dolphins were a minor interstellar power. They built, operated, repaired, and designed their own ships. All without having hands. They used the ripples in the water caused by echolocation to operate all their machinery, and the only help they accepted from the humans was a few construction robots.

I may have declared war against that nation at some point.

-Also, I managed to kill an entire infantry division by dropping leaflets on their position. In same RP we also shot tanks at point-blank range with 18" Battelship-guns, fought against invading humoungous mechas FROM SPACE and won by selling them kittens, took down a helicopter by grappling-hooking one, while another attempt resulted in an IFV playing ninja-ropes using heavy-lift helicopters.

Aside from that, there was one instance (again, same RP) of capturing the launch-codes for another nation's nuclear arsenal, and retargeting the missiles to detonate inside their own siloes... simultaneously, while zombies clawed at our compound.
----

In another RP, was a rather... odd moment...

-Goose-stepping down a steep hill to outrun zombies and charge upon a fascist fortification at the same time. Later that character took a Milan ATGM to the face when the French decided to invade.

-Gaining a werewolf's trust by feeding it liver and onions, then shooting her boyfriend (who btw, actually cooked the meal) in the back of the head because my character took a figure-of-speech too literally, and was forgiven for it.

And of course there is the infamous cheeseburger-scene in a fallout-RP. Although it would probably go instead to subverting a rape-scene by replacing the damsel in distress companion with a nightstalker-companion.
