I do agree with Yandere's sentiment that words not wording workingly do be a problem this time of year.

Scratch that, place your bets on polymarket.

Looks like I'll be working on memorial day weekend. And no, this does not mean place any bets on polymarket.

due to a typo on my part I was nearly convinced I owed the IRS nearly $3000 in excess taxes this year.

Bio

-There will be delays in replies. Largely due to working overtime, voluntary obligations; other RPs and online-things may compete for my attention.

'Bout me:
Started RPing (badly) back in '05, mostly doing nation-RPs with an emphasis on technology and strategy, later edging out to character-espionage and military-tactics before doing "less serious" character roleplays that were outside of the 2005-2008 continuity.

That's when I went to Dead-Frontier, and found the RP community there, joined a clan, did some pretty good roleplays and pretty much loosened-up my online-personality. When the clan-leader decided to move her RPs here, most of the clan followed.

Took a course in technical-writing back in '08, so now I may sometimes use the semicolon correctly.

In 2010 I dusted off the old nation-RP continuity I had, doing a few hetelia-esque RP-shenanigans there..

RP-Habbits: I tend to geek-out on little technical-details, and sometimes infer how those details would impact the background of the roleplay. Great for world-building, not so great when you had a perfectly good plotline and I just MacGyver it off the rails (though I usually er to the side of amusement, sometimes it creates very grim side-stories).

Well, to be nice I'm probably going to give everyone a squad, or the remnants of one.

Also, take this:

*hands TMA a Pederson-device for his Obrez-Mosin, making it the rarest Real-life Mosin in world, last seen somewhere in Oklahoma.*
Which brings us to why the zombies want to kill us.

And why, even when you die, you DO NOT want to leave them anything of yourself they could use.

Save the last bullet for yourself. It won't stop them from re-animating you, but it will slow them down, and hopefully you'll be too lobotomized to care.
Very undead.

Keep in mind, it at the very least implies a fatal injury, and continuing for eternity with that pain as people shoot at you for fear of their lives.

A soldier can, in some instances, blow your head off... you'd still feel it. Forever.

Or, you could become a zombie-head on a stick.
I see, you're probably also somewhat familiar with how the French Ergot/LSD outbreak in 1951 somewhat inspired Romero's film "The Crazies".

Tell you what. I'll toss the SCP-mention in favor of a greater emphasis on the historical and (limited) literary mash-up, in combination with the greater Spanish-flu nearly wiping out a quarter of the human population due to the war hindering efforts of containment and vaccination. But it will fall on you to ensure the idea can still stand.

I'm also going to suggest that all players at least start-off as alive, and part of the containment/evacuation-efforts.
"Oh this sounds rather amusi-"

>SCP

Nope.

Can this be done without any of that SCP stuff? It lost it's funny a good while ago.

Well, "SCP-186" isn't so much an organism as a location where some pretty nasty fighting went down in real life, and the only real lore I borrowed was transcript SCP-186-56 as follows:

Bold emphasis mine.

In theory, I could trace where someone found a pop-sci reference to such a gas (Russian sleep experiment?), and use that instead, but this was more readily-available.
-The rest I'm pretty sure I can throw out.

But in summary, both sides are making zombie-armies of their own definitions and things have started to get a bit out of hand, prompting an international intervention (which did happen IRL, but for different reasons).
-It's not all bad, though
Thinking about a conflict/zombie RP set between October 1917 and December 1919. Starting with the Kerensky Offensive and ending in the North Russian/Siberian Intervention of 1918-1920 by American forces to evacuate war-materials.

Incidentally, this RP will be assuming SCP-186 WILL NOT be contained.

For more information, please read SCP document 186-52: Letter from Pvt. Pyotr Avtukhov, participant in the Battle of Husiatyn Woods.

Will send an armored-train of reinforcements to the Husiatyn wood, Ukraine at once to stabilize the situation, contained within will be an armored unit of Legionnaires to help restore order.
~Long live the Republic.

Types of zombies:

Herbert West's Re-animates (American):
West got his true test on the fields of Flanders in 1915, and since then has slowly built-up a small army.

Frankenstein's Mosnters (Austrian) and Human Centipede / German Abominations:
-Previously dead, can be killed, but Frankenstein's original creations were usually taking the literal 'best bits' of soldiers
-The German 'abominations' on the other hand, were often creations from still living, or unkillable test-subjects in order to supplement their existing abilities. Multi-armed specimens were found not to have the bone-structure to make heavy-lifting feasible, however many examples have been pressed into use as 'field medics' for German forces in order to speed-up this labor-intensive process of grafting limbs back together. The monsters are still fielded as heavy-weapons specialists.

Medium Joseph Crowley's Substutiary Locomotion (British):
These forces were offered as an armored platoon of unmanned tanks (one Medium Mk VII-F, and four Renault FT), commanded by a group of officers for tactical advisement and occultist medium "J. Crowley". At their request, the Russian Imperial War Museum allowed this unit access to all the old uniforms of Crossacks and other ranks loyal to Russia.

Crowley then began training several other units locally and allwed each to have a single command-tank.

Later in the conflict, many of these members were no longer fit for command, and were summarily shot for cowardice. Crowley now commands an unmanned supply-convoy as a conscientious-objector.

Dr. Jean Durand's "Prussian Blue" (French):

Rasputin's Demonic Possession (Russian):
Not as effective in combat as other forces, but often used as a last resort to coerce Cossacks to obey orders.
-Thankfully, the death of Rasputin has curtailed the use of this particular technique.

Needless to say, for many of these, shooting them in the head won't do shit.
*And for some reason, the Soviets thought they knew quite a bit on reviving the dead.

And none of that rubbish of "But we don't want to fight!"

Now I order you, BACK TO THE TRENCH!

LOOKING FOR

A FEW GOOD CO-GMS

Players will be allowed to RP as any nationality with any loadout within reasonable justification of existing TO&Es and concepts of the era, and are expected to be willing to RP their gear literally going through hell to the point of failure (including those old-timey uniforms), and then being forced to fight-on with broken weapons against a foe that cannot die.
Tempted to run a spy-racket in feudal times, perhaps even fake the kidnapping of a noble to justify a war.

-Ofc, the king wouldn't want them (kidnapper included) to return alive; that would be awkward.

I'm not sure what role would play who, you appear to be very fond of being secretive.

Myself, ominously cryptic.
There is one RP I 'officially' finished all the way to the bitter end.

Gentlemen, welcome to Dubai.

Thread up
also, @Foster my only question would be how you'd get that to work. to me, it seems almost all roleplays where you play BotG it dies. That's one thing I'm worried about for my own thread....

(hoping that means "boots on the ground")

That's a very recent trend, I assure you.
-However, most RPs I've tried to solo-GM (regardless of story) have died.

I've been trying to find some good dedicated co-GMs that know the general history, lore, and those random bits of info (like at the very least seen an Mle RSC 1917 field stripped and compared to an M1 Garand, and view WW1 era automatics in context* rather than for use as flavor-weapon for Call of Duty style "high-speed low-drag" yolo-fests).

*Context being, the French automatics were made by illiterate 16 year old girls since 75% of the male French population was sitting in the trenches. In short, they had to be so simple, you could field-strip it, look at the parts, and say to yourself: "Shit, I could build this fucker on a good weekend." Same reason why the French elected to use strip-fed MGs rather than belts, it took about 3 seconds to stamp enough ammo-strips to hold a full can of ammo... time spent sewing a fabric belt for a Vickers or assembling a lewis-pan's spring-assemblies...

And someone who can find a reason why discussion on French armaments is *not* a tangent upon a tangent when discussing an RP to be set in Russia.
