I do agree with Yandere's sentiment that words not wording workingly do be a problem this time of year.

Scratch that, place your bets on polymarket.

Looks like I'll be working on memorial day weekend. And no, this does not mean place any bets on polymarket.

due to a typo on my part I was nearly convinced I owed the IRS nearly $3000 in excess taxes this year.

-There will be delays in replies. Largely due to working overtime, voluntary obligations; other RPs and online-things may compete for my attention.

'Bout me:
Started RPing (badly) back in '05, mostly doing nation-RPs with an emphasis on technology and strategy, later edging out to character-espionage and military-tactics before doing "less serious" character roleplays that were outside of the 2005-2008 continuity.

That's when I went to Dead-Frontier, and found the RP community there, joined a clan, did some pretty good roleplays and pretty much loosened-up my online-personality. When the clan-leader decided to move her RPs here, most of the clan followed.

Took a course in technical-writing back in '08, so now I may sometimes use the semicolon correctly.

In 2010 I dusted off the old nation-RP continuity I had, doing a few hetelia-esque RP-shenanigans there..

RP-Habbits: I tend to geek-out on little technical-details, and sometimes infer how those details would impact the background of the roleplay. Great for world-building, not so great when you had a perfectly good plotline and I just MacGyver it off the rails (though I usually er to the side of amusement, sometimes it creates very grim side-stories).

Chartose turned away to dismount and help Kladissa with the bolo, only to feel the dull *thuck* as an arrow embedded itself into several pounds of copper-pieces he just happened to carry in his rucksack. Still, the screamers must've seen the arrow stuck into him, and saw him get off Tricia. Most likely they thought themselves successful in wounding him, and would stop shooting as they went in to gather-up prisoners.

So the Charr laid his own ambush by smoothly pulling his crossbow from his scream-raptor's scabbard, and drew a quick aim and fired upon the rushing archer to the swordsman's rear. Unless the later turned, it would be hard to know the fate of his comrades. The state of the fight went both ways, however, as he quickly lost track of the Aaeneshi and the Human. Kladissa was obviously trying to free herself, and the best he could do was buy her some time.

And to be fair of the swordsman's obvious skill, buying Kladissa time was nearly the best he could hope for in a spear vs scimitar fight, he still had a hand-axe on his belt, but a good fist to the nose or a bear-hug would seem more appropriate if his opponent wished to get close and personal with him.

Tricia however, would not be content to remain a hapless bystander for long when her master was in danger.
So let me get this straight. Sarah is on the opposite corner of Mulberry and Highview. I assume she can circle around the mainstreet and flank them?

From what I gathered, there was a sniper 2 blocks to your west that I pumped a mortar-shell into (from 31st) the side of the building they were using for cover.

Here's what we've got going on. One of the mooks was pinned by Cecilia on the corner of Highview & Mullberry. Cecilia and presumably, most of the Panthers, are on Pembroke. The three new mooks in the dialouge are approaching from the west (we've made contact with some). The second team has not been detected yet, but are moving somewhere to the east, attempting to loop and hit our south. We don't know there's a second team yet, so this should come as a surprise.
And the map is deceptive; this engagement is happening at night.

-I'm not sure where Ryder would be in the scheme of things; the HQ is north-east of us, off the map. The enemies were originally in that direction, in-between us and the complex, but obviously they're moving now to pincer us. Since whoever's raiding the HQ is going for a fast, in-out attack and retrieval, there aren't too many defensive positions, like mortars, but those could be coming from the FRAMEs to our north-west.

In hindsight, the engagement is crystal clear in my head, but that's obviously because I'm creating it! I realize that others might piece it together differently than me, so I hope the visuals help.

The explanation helped immensely, because although YASSIR is still going to be [doubling-back] to the south along 31st for flank-protection, the direction her gun will be pointed has changed (still towards Mulberry, though). The subtlety of these differences would have made them likely missed for several more posts.

Also, figuring standard block-lengths, the distance between Mulberry and 31st is roughly 400 meters.
I guess it's safe to assume there's a second mortar-team in the area.

For anyone interested in a rough map based on the IC goings-on:

Highview is the main-road and path of our advance, and appears to travel East-West, with resistance on the west-side.

Intersecting roads, from west to east:
Mulberry (where the lead elements of the enemy picket are pinned), Bembroke (where Cecilia is pinned), and 31st (Doesn't appear too significant, except maybe as a navigational-dogleg from Samigina [implying the Samigina is somewhere to the NE]).

OPFOR is engaged to our west, and is presently trying a north/south 30/70 pincer upon Bembroke.

Since YASSIR isn't too fond of engaging in the furball at Highview/Bembroke... will just keep skating south on 31st until I meet the two jokers trying to outflank from the south (implying I lobbed a mortar at a sniper to the north on Bembroke via an un-named street earlier).

The accuracy of this information may be questionable.
I'm tempted to go read that just in case of incomprehension due to fatigue.
For those wondering about the name of the pub, I'd nominate "The Loose Nail", for reasons.

So I said I was posting... but I am not sure how to start the post...

Start with silly work your way to serious, or vice versa.
As noted in the IC, she was a tad busy uncrating the mech by herself.

Sarah's was easy enough to spot, though.

And Snake Eater is running active-camo.
@FosterIf Marlene's FRAME was being serviced on the Samigina, wouldn't that have given the crew ample time to set up the frequencies and IFF? If it was with the others, it'd be pretty hard to mistake friend from enemy, unless, she was really scatterbrained, or on drugs, maybe.

It was still in the process of being unboxed.

Note: Marlene's mech doesn't have the PP-insignia on it yet.

Also, since IFF is going to be... interesting for her... she just spoiled their shot rather than tried slamming a round into his torso.
