I'm getting very excited watching you two debate

Doggo VS LolCat

Oh and to answer your question LolCat, I identify as an Authoritarian Centrist, I'm right of center and left of center on a fairly equal amount of views.

That's a good question! I'm officially registered as a Nonpartisan voter. Additionally, I'm not a moral realist, which is to say that I think morality is relative to each person and while I may not agree with some stances on contentious issues, I would like to try and make decisions which are pragmatic and benefit society as a whole. I think in general I am either uneducated or undereducated about a lot of political topics and can't make any definitive commitments as to "where I stand" on any particular issue.

:)

That's a really long way of saying 'Libertarian'.

;) ;) ;) ;)

I kid...I kid...

I love that 'news' is in quotes

I'm putting 'news' in quotes because there is nothing new about it. The information they recieve is largely lifted from stories that have already been broken by other platforms such as Fox News, Info Wars or Brietbart. And thats not including them lifting from other subreddits such as r/conspiracy

<Snipped quote by Dynamo Frokane>

Fourth, I never hear these sorts of critiques for the Daily Show or Samantha Bee or Colbert Report or John Oliver --

Are you saying that you cant get Right Wing/Conservative opinions and talking points from left wing comedy shows? GASP I cant believe that! Next youre going to tell me that you cant play Xbox One discs in a PS4 console, crazy world we live in.

Link me, plz. I'll totally go there too. Maybe one that's a teensie bit less islamophobic.

Dont forget Anti Semetic.

Look overall you are right about the donald being popular, but that wasn't the original claim, it seemed like you were coming at it the T_D was the only place to find opinions that were right wing/populist/conservative.

<Snipped quote by Dynamo Frokane>

Against what position?

That the implications of politics are serious, that was my position all along, like I said I probably didn't specify enough, but that's the claim you cant argue against.

I identified as a libertarian for a while, and voted libertarian in 2008.

@Kratesis When I said politics was important I was referring to the implications, maybe I should have been clear. The goalposts remain in the same place. And I take it you dont have an argument against that position.
<Snipped quote by Dynamo Frokane>

You make some weird assumptions and I'm trying to decide how I should take them. Leaning towards swiftboating. *shrug* Not important I guess.

T_D is interesting to me because they present facts that get suppressed everywhere else. And lots of bullshit, too, lots of which amuses me. But mostly for that counter-narrative.

Let me rephrase what I said, you must have heard of these other subreddits. Again I'm just pointing out to you that the idea that T_D has 100% exclusive content is crazy. They literally lift most of their 'news' from infowars, sometimes brietbart and sometimes fox news. T_D is unique in some ways, but breaking stories that no other sub reddit is touching is just not one of them.
<Snipped quote by Dynamo Frokane>

Obviously not lol.

I mean if you think Ben Shapiro is alt right I guess I can see why itd be a bit of a circus for you lol.

But the implications of politics are serious, no amount of memes will change that.
@mdk You must have been on r/conspiracy, Kotaku in Action, Anarcho Capitalism, White Rights r/infowars etc

The Donald is only unique because of how strange they all act, and the stuff they ban people over. Like Doggo said, its fun, but it wears thin pretty quick.
The differences in /r/politics and T_D is T_D is funny.

Politics is a largely serious thing.
@mdk Please don't be making the argument that the donald is the only right leaning subreddit, there are plenty.
@Tasuke thats fine, I also have had other rp commitments but I will post soon
<Snipped quote by Vilageidiotx>

largely. It follows a pattern of talking point --> meme --> conspiracy theory --> internet sleuthing --> meme --> piece of insignificant evidence marked THIS IS BIG --> meme --> conspiracy totally confirmed

TBF though that's basically how CNN operates at this point, minus the entertainment value.

Dont see many memes coming out of CNN, they seem pretty milquetoast tbh.

<Snipped quote by Dynamo Frokane>

T_D is a fantastic resource. You get to see (a) what the fanatics are on about, and (b) what the actual real life media actually really doesn't want you to see. The trick is being able to tell which is which -- but if you can do that, you should really browse T_D. If you can't tell the difference, regardless of what side you're on, you should probably stay away. But also (c) they got some pretty decent memes, albeit with a dash of persecution complex. So you can get sucked in easy if you let yourself.

Curious -- besides anything I've linked you to, have you ever been to T_D? It's better if you haven't. If you haven't, what have you heard about it? I'm wondering if T_D's ideas about their own reputation hold any merit.

Ive been on there plenty of times, its entertaining for a short time in the same way watching crackheads beat each other up is entertaining. Ive occasionally seen a smart discussion on there, but far to often its big CAPS LOCK FUCKING LIBTARDS/CUCKSERVATIVES/PAID SHILLS DONT WANT AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. I get that its ironic on some level but its annoying.

As far as the actual content, a lot of it is just recycles articles from brietbart and infowars and occasionally actual white nationalist sites such as American Renaissance, Alternative Hypothesis and Voat. If right wingers want to make the case that they are calm rational individuals who want to be able to respectfully discuss ideas with everyone and its the Left who are over emotional echo chamber cry babys who cant handle facts, then The_Donald really isn't the best place to justify that characterization.
