Because the premise of what I'm doing is looking at data from observations of various emissions from space and saying, "Hey, that's a pulsar, and it is/isn't one already found", "Hey, this isn't a pulsar", or "Hey, this is maybe a pulsar, I dunno man". As you could imagine, there are a lot more places in spaces that don't have pulsars than do.
