"Oh, yeah, sure, totally. Uh just lemme..." the boy said hurriedly, his sentence trailing off as he cleared his things off the table. Her smile growing slightly, Ebony sat her food tray on the table, muttering a quick, "thanks," before taking a seat, She'd recognized the boy from all of her previous classes, but for some odd reason, couldn't recall his name. She'd always been terrible with names, but was always quick to remember a face. Once she'd sat down and took her plastic fork out of it's wrapper, Ebony noticed that he, like herself, was a photographer; his camera was sitting on the table. She was about to point that out, but it seemed as though he'd already beat her to it.

"Ebony, right? I'm Caleb," the boy said, "That's uh, a pretty nice camera." The boy spoke nervously before dog-earing the page of his book and gesturing to the camera around her neck. Ebony made a mental note of his name, her smile widening as she glanced down at the camera around her neck. "Thanks," she said, removing the strap from around her neck and placing it on the table beside her food tray. "My Auntie got it for me a couple of years ago, as a birthday present!" She was just about to speak again, when she felt a hand land lightly on her shoulder.

Turning her head quickly, Ebony saw none other than one of her good friends, Poetry. She was grinning, her head tilted slightly to the side. "Let's sit together in science class next time, Ebony-Gold," she said, "Maybe we'll get to be project partners." Flashing Poetry a quick smile, Ebony just nodded her head in agreement, before her friend made her way towards another table. "Catch you on the flip." (@LovelyAnastasia)

Directing her gaze back towards Caleb once more, Ebony shrugged her shoulders before continuing on. "Anyways, my Aunt saw me eyeballing the camera while we were in the store, so she bought it for me." She shifted her attention to his camera, "That's a cool camera you got there, too. What do you like to take pictures of?" Her eyes also landed on the book that he'd been reading not too long ago. "Whatcha' reading?"

As she spoke, Ebony opened her Italian dressing and poured it all over her salad, mixing it all together with her fork. When she'd finished speaking, she took a few small, delicate bites, awaiting his answer. It wasn't long, though, before someone else made their way to the table, taking the seat right next to Ebony. Blake had a smile plastered across his face, as usual.

“Hey Caleb, Ebony! I hope you guys don’t mind if I sit here too.” He told them, even though he essentially already made that decision to sit. Ebony laughed lightly, shaking her head.

"Nah, we don't mind, Blake," she said with a friendly smile, "How's ya day going so far?"

She averted her eyes away from Blake, though, when she'd caught a glimpse of red hair walk by. She instantly recognized the girl as Amelia, who had also been in their previous three classes. After hearing a bit about how things were for the girl at home during homeroom, Ebony had made a mental note to try and befriend her, maybe even help her, but she had yet to follow through. Her eyes followed Amelia as she made her way towards a group of students, her arms wrapping around her boyfriend, Ezera. From where she was sitting, Ebony could see that Amelia was crying. She also couldn't help but notice the nasty bruises the covered her arm, and the large red welt on the girl's cheek. "That poor girl," Ebony said. She and Amelia were only acquaintances, but somehow she knew that something had been going on with her. The bruises and welts practically confirmed it. She was just about to leave the table and see what was up before another girl entered the picture. (@carla6677)

She watched Amelia and the new girl argue for a few minutes before shaking her head and turning back to the table. "This is just way too much drama for the first day," she sighed, stabbing at her salad leaves with the fork.
@carla6677 I can help you out, if you want.

Kiera "Toya" Miller

Kiera was stuck, tears blurring her vision and falling down her cheeks as she gasped for air. His naked body lay on top of hers, hairy and extremely sweaty. She never let out a sound, not when he touched her, not when he had his way with her. The thirteen year old girl was completely silent as he grunted in her ear, "Don't run from it, Kiera. You know you like it." She just laid there, still and stiff, eyes puffy and nose dripping with snot. The pain was excruciating, but she knew better than to scream. She knew that even the slightest groan of pain would instantly turn him off. Then he would get angry again. He would make her regret it.He'd punish her. He'd make her beg for him to stop, before rolling on top of her again, stuffing some of the bed sheets into her mouth so he wouldn't have to hear her yell. It'd be hard for her to breathe; her sinuses blocked, mouth full, and his two hundred pound body crushing her. After a while she'd fall unconscious, his voice slowly starting to fade away. Kiera was stuck.

She woke up in a cold sweat, gasping for air. Her bottom lip was trembling, and her body was shivering. This was the tenth time this month that she has had the same nightmare, a suppressed memory from when she was younger. It took her a few seconds to remember where she was as she lay still, staring up at the white ceiling tiles. She could here Miss Fairchild, clap her hands loudly at the doorway, and a moment later, flick on the lights. That was her cue to get out of bed, same as it was every morning. It has always been the same routine; there was little to no change in the six months that she's been stuck in Treewit. She woke up every morning, much to her dismay, took care of her personal hygiene, had her blood pressure taken, took her meds, ate breakfast, and went to her morning therapy session. Every morning was the same, it was all a simple routine. Consistency was good, especially for Kiera.

Finally sitting up in bed, swinging her legs over so she could stand, Kiera decided to get started on her routine. She made her bed, first and foremost, before grabbing her hygiene box and making her way to a stall in the female bathrooms. Every morning she brushed her teeth, washed her face, and took a three minute shower. Today's shower, however, took five minutes because she'd decided to wash her hair. She let her hair air dry and curl up as she deodorized and got dressed. By the time she'd finished looking at herself in the mirror and putting her hygiene box away, her hair was about half-way dry, and it was time to head to the day room. As she stood around, waiting for her medicine, Kiera took a look around the room. Having been there for six months, she knew almost everyone in Treewit. Granted, she never really spoke to that many people, but she knew who they were. "Miller!" Kiera's head snapped forward, her eyes widening before realizing that it was her turn to take the pills. Smiling nervously at the nurse, she grabbed the condiment cup and swallowed the pills one by one, each followed by a small sip of water. "Good morning to you, Toya," the nurse said once she'd handed her back the cup. Kiera just smiled and nodded her head at the sound of the familiar nickname. Ever since she first arrived, she'd decided to go by the name Toya, a shortened version of her middle name, simply because she liked the sound of it.

After having her blood pressure taken, which was seemingly normal, she followed the other patients to the cafeteria. She could tell what was being served before they even reached the line, she smell of sausage and eggs wafting up to her nose. Her eyes peering down at the food, she smiled to herself once she saw what was being served; eggs, sausage, fruit, toast, milk, and juice. Sausage had always been one of her favorite things to eat at breakfast. Sure, they probably wouldn't taste at all like how they did at IHOP, but they were, nonetheless, still sausages, and there was no way that she'd turn them down. Not being a big fan of eggs, Kiera filled her tray with sausage, toast, and fruit. She'd also decided to grab a carton of regular two percent milk, before turning to find a place to sit. After just a few seconds of standing with her tray in her hands, Kiera spotted Raf at one of the four tables, gesturing for her and others to join him at the table. "Guys, guys, c'mere," he said, "we gotta get to know the new kids!" Letting out a quiet chuckle, Kiera made her way to the circular table, which was almost full. She recognized all but two, those that she instantly identified as the "new kids."

Kiera ended up taking the seat next to Eva, an older girl who'd been there long before she was. Although never really having a full conversation with the girl, she knew her to be a kind and friendly chick. Kiera muttered a quick, "Wassup," before taking a large bite of her toast. She was quiet person, but she certainly was not timid.

The remainder of homeroom had gone smoothly. Somehow, Ebony had managed to guess someone's lie correctly, before walking to the front of the class and telling her own. She didn't say anything too personal, unlike some of the others. She told them that she loved writing poetry, she was into photography, and that she was a vegetarian. Anyone could've easily guessed the lie, seeing as though she had her camera around her neck, and someone more than likely saw her scarfing down a large slice of pepperoni pizza at the carnival the day before. The next period wasn't as eventful. Ebony's best and favorite subject had always been English, so she knew she'd enjoy participating in the class. She just wasn't so sure that she'd love the teacher. Their third class with Mr. Shmiddt was going well, that is, until he mentioned the Science Fair.

"Freshman will be allowed in the science fair for the first time this year!" he exclaimed, "Except..." he pauses, "We're only allowed to do volcanoes. Fear not though! We will make it a blast, and show them the freshman deserve to be in the fair too!" Ebony groaned as he handed out a piece of paper that listed all the supplies needed and that each group would be a maximum of five members.

"We will decide our members at the end of the week, and by we, I mean myself!" he let out a chuckle, and continued talking about what he had in store for them this year. Resting her elbow on her desk, Ebony sighed. Not only were they going to have to participate in a Science Fair, but they'd also have to work in groups. Ebony was a friendly girl, sure, but she'd much rather do the project alone. Being the perfectionist that she was, she knew that she'd come off as bossy or annoying whenever they'd start the project. Hopefully, though, she'd be placed in a group with people that she was well-acquainted with. When the bell rang, signaling the beginning of lunch, Ebony hopped out of her seat and grabbed her things. Her camera was hung around her neck, as usual, and she had her cell phone in hand. As she and a crowd of students made their way into the lunch room, Ebony reached in her pocket to grab the few dollars that her Auntie had given her a few days ago for lunch. There was a great selection of food, but after a moments thought, Ebony decided to buy a salad. After grabbing a few packets of Italian dressing, she turned to scan the lunch room, food tray in hand.

From the looks of things, she thought, she'd either have to sit at an empty table and wait for someone to come sit with her, or sit at an already occupied table. She couldn't spot any of her friends from where she was standing, so she walked around for a bit, scanning the room one last time before spotting the table nearest to her. The table was only occupied by one person, a thin boy with shaggy, dark blonde hair. She recognized him from homeroom, where, like everyone else, he'd stood up in front of the class. She couldn't remember, however, whatever he'd said for his two truths and a lie. He was reading a book as he ate, something that Ebony didn't really like to do seeing as how she'd always manage to drop a piece of food on some of the pages. Taking a breath, Ebony walked over to the table and sat her tray at the seat across from his, letting a small smile come over her face.

"Is it okay if I sit here?"
