I like the D6 version, as it actually balances out force users really well, yeah, you can be all powerful in the force and that can help you do lots of stuff, but you could still (potentially) be taken down by some normal guy who has just devoted his life to learning to fight really well with his blaster, made it his whole career. Like Boba Fett or something

Doing chores and watching Clone Wars, but I'll get to looking at that soon. It's my day off, so expect me to be around, generally.

I would like to play as a Jedi or Sith, but if both orders were almost gone, I think that other force traditions would arise to fill the gap. If nothing else, Force sensitives would have come across, if not searched for, knowledge of the ancient orders. You could even say that the Force led them to the info.

In my case, I was thinking that either I was born on Dathomir and originally learned their force tradition (or for a Jedi character, I was raised by a Gray Paladin) or, maybe, I was a force-sensitive archaeologist that found a sith holocron in a dig on Korriban.

Yes, other traditions are going to exist, but a great deal of the galaxy is like Han in Hope. They think the whole Force thing is some old religion, and don't necessarily believe in it.

For one thing, I don't rabidly hate the prequels like a lot of Star Wars fans(they weren't great movies, but let's not discuss it) but I do really think they ruined our previous notions of what the Jedi and the Force were like. They made it look grand and ubiquitous in the galaxy, but in Hope we get a lot of dialogue that suggests that even then not everyone believed in it. Even well educated Imperial officers:

Admiral Motti: Don’t try to frighten us with your sorcerous ways, Lord Vader. Your sad devotion to that ancient religion has not helped you conjure up the stolen data tapes, or given you clairvoyance enough to find the rebels’ hidden fortress…

So that's the sort of place we're jumping from. There would definitely be force traditions, but most of them are viewed like Obi was by Uncle Owen(or, you know, how he pretended to view Obi). And there's nothing Galaxy, or even star-system wide. They would be local, maybe well respected on some outer rim planet, or maybe even just seen as some cult sect.

It's a reasonable place for a character to come from, though. And in fact, if you want to take up that co-GM post and play opposite me, your archaeologist might even be our Sith Lord.
Untold centuries after the fall of Emperor Palpatine and his apprentice, Darth Vader, the galaxy is united as a republic once more. It was a long fight, Imperial remnants holding as much ground as they could, for as long as they could. In the midst of it, over the decades, the Skywalker family made a few quiet attempts to restart the Jedi Order. They didn't dare be as open as the old Order was. They were afraid of attracting powerful enemies, and they were afraid of being seen as one.

Their soft hand was their downfall. The New Order attracted some students, but they never again achieved the reach that the Jedi were known for, and over time they faded from the general public's awareness, remembered as some mystical order of paladins or monks. Long after Luke Skywalker's death, the Order failed for decades to attract new padawans, and as the older master's died out, soon there was only one left. The last Apprentice of the New Jedi Order, he achieved the rank of Knight, and the last Master passed his title to him as he died. Oberon Markel considered letting the lineage die, knowing the Force was alive, and would resurface when it was needed.

But that was not the Force's will after all. Something pulled on him, and he found himself drawn by intuition to Corelia. He stood outside a junk shop(the owner fancied himself an antique's dealer) when David Starsea walked out with an old, dead lightsaber in his hands. He was the first apprentice in almost fifty years, and after learning all Master Markel had to teach, he found himself more successful in finding padawans than his predecessors.

Unfortunately, so was someone else.
Interested, and if you really need a system, might I recommend the D6 version, really open and balanced.

Got a link? I'm looking for something simple, but, as you say, balanced and open.

I'll watch this.

If you're doing a dice system, I'd go with something like the KOTOR games used, just because SW fans might be used to it. They used an electronic twenty sided dice.

I've played KOTOR, but I don't know much about their system. I shall look into it.

In the past I've used a modified Apocalypse World system, and I may do so here(if you're familiar with it, I basically used the same mechanics, but chose what my stats are and what they meant).

Interested!
Also, How about the reason the jedi and Sith are dwindling is because the rest of the universe has turned against them.

Possible, I was going more with Luke just failing to ever start the Order again. The Jedi character(stand by, I'm hoping to get backstory on his part soon) will be a descendant, not biologically, but by apprenticeship.
Short version: This is a character driven RP(with some wider viewed guidance by the GMs) that focuses specifically on both the Jedi Order and the Sith. The story will be driven by the actions of the characters, but the outcomes of those actions will be driven by dice. I have a system, modified(heavily in some areas) from the old Star Wars table top. See below.
This is an an alternate universe from both the new canon and the old EU in an unspecified future where the Sith have been gone until recently, and the Jedi had dwindled down to their last Master and Apprentice. That Apprentice is the Master now, and he is seeking Padawans of his own, but so is a new Sith Lord.

CSes are freeform, except for the stat section. I was taking them through PM before, but after one player said he sent one but I never received it, I've come to suspect the PM system may be broken. So go ahead and post here. We're looking for Sith before Jedi right now. This RP will always have openings, though.
Davad saw the Jedi across the Dune Sea, and made no attempt to mask his own presence. He could go undetected if he wanted, even to a Jedi, unless they were actively looking for him. But he had been alone for a long time now, and sought some sentient interaction, even if it was a fight.

He stood at the top of a dune himself, looking out at the form. The suns were to his left, so both would be easily visible to each other, and as soon as the Jedi sensed him, he was sure to come investigate.

Tatooine had its dangers, and there was an Imperial presence here, but it was a wild planet, and there were large enough stretches of barren empty desert that it was easy to get lost in them, and that served one well when being lost was their desire.

Come on, he thought at the form, bending his aimless anger toward what he took to be a Jedi, Bring your foolish monk ideas my way.
Charlotte was absolutely ecstatic. She was being punished with an adventure? That was fine by her, she still felt sour about being punished at all! It's not like... well, she knew she could go on and on in her mind about how unfair it was, but there was no sense in that, not when the prospect of this sort of fun was so close at hand.

She was eager to get started, but felt a little low on friendship at the moment.

Another adult approached the group, like Cass he looked like he was barely out of school himself. He was a good looking, if slightly short man of dirty blond hair, that fell in loose curls around his forehead and just over his ears. He set himself apart from students who would otherwise look the same age as him with a short, but full beard.

“Sorry for the wait,” he spoke with an American accent, with a slight Northern inflection that most Brits might not even notice. “I still get lost in the castle, didn’t grow up here like these two,” he gestured at Cass and Charlie. “I’m just as new as you firsties… First Years, pardon me.

“Alright, Charlie. Let’s go?”

He was already holding his wand, in a casual, comfortable sort of way. It was long and crooked, but all of its bends and twists brought the very point back so that it was perfectly in line with the handle.
Well I would, but my character is neither Jedi nor Sith.
Rolf was loading his pipe to smoke, when asked why he might have been brought here.

He shrugged with an unconcerned smile. "I imagine for something similar to what you're 'in for,'" he spoke with an accent that originated far from Alexandria. The sort of alternative brogue that could only thrive in isolated places. "I've uncommon skills, the sort that it's worth searching far and wide for. If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say you weren't easy for them to track down either?"

He lit his pipe, and when offered the wineskin gladly took a hearty swig. He offered a spare pipe to the ranger in return.

He had only taken a few puffs when the great doors opened and they were to go inside. Rolf sighed and extinguished his pipe, stowing it in a pocket of his coat and walking through the doorway with his staff over his shoulder.

"Well let's find out then, shall we?"
Oh, swell. I hope I can post before wednesday night, but I probably can't.
I believe you can still apply. May as well make up a CS.
