@Thecrash20@Burning Kitty Both look good, thanks for the apps.

The only thing I would say to you, Kitty, is just to make sure she stays somewhere in the neutral to good range(thinking DnD style alignments). She doesn't look like she would slip into "evil" territory, but I just want to make sure I say so now.
Oh my bad, I saw it and forgot to address it.

How long ago are we talking?

I don’t think Peter, but if we include him it might be a younger Miles Morales. I’ll have to get back to you on who he would be dating, though honestly it doesn’t have to be anyone known or anything.

And both of those powers sound fine, but I will ask that it be one or the other, not both.

EDIT: actually, screw it, both is fine. I kind of like the almost monstrous direction the character might go with this.

@Helios J Mears looks good, I might suggest the organic webbing last a bit longer, though. Maybe an hour, if you want it to be faster dissolving than Peter’s web fluid.
@Burning Kitty

Correct! There are just some powers that you wouldn’t be a Spider-Person without. And I know people are going to vary possibly quite a bit, so there needs to be some

Webbing will not be organic, unless you want to use your variant power slot for it. If any character wants to be the sort of genius who could reverse engineer a sample of Parker’s fluid, feel free to let me know. Otherwise I’ll proceed as planned and have an outside benefactor provide it.

No, you don’t have to have every power, feel free to leave some at 0. Hell, feel free to leave most of them at zero and just be like super strong or something.

I don’t know about trading for a second variant. What two variants did you have in mind?

@Apocalypse Subject to individual review, yes. I actually put a part in there for power variants.
Garfield High: Last year’s graduating class was about 1500, and this year’s looks to be bigger. A growing school on the North-Eastern end of Staten Island, the administration is only just now starting to realize that they might need to expand their facilities. Academic scores are average, though thanks to Stark Industries, they have a very impressive science lab(but what New York school doesn’t, now?).

The surrounding neighborhoods are more on the suburban end, and quite boring for most teenagers, so the most popular weekend or after school activity is to take the ferry to Manhattan, or the bridge to Brooklyn.

All in all, a pretty normal school in a pretty normal neighborhood. Nobody could predict that it would become the center of amazing events.

Some minor background, and here's a CS to play around with. Feel free to post one so I can peruse them.

Name: Obvious.
Age: 18 is the oldest. Though events start in a high school, you don’t have to be a student there, so younger is allowed too, but remember that that would put more pressure on you to get your character involved.
Appearance: Pictures are acceptable, no anime though.
Background: Doesn’t need to be much. I expect this RP will begin with the most interesting part of every characters life.

Hero name: This and the costume will develop in the RP, but feel free to decide it ahead of time.
Costume:
Powers: You have 100 points(or percentage, or whatever) to divide between these abilities.

Super Strength:
Speed and Agility:
Spider Sense:
Durability:
Accelerated Healing:
Camouflage:
Venom Blast: A neurotoxin delivered through direct contact, usually through the hands.
Variant: Anything new, this will be subject to approval, but if you can justify it being related to spiders, you’ll probably be good.
Huh, I didn’t expect to have two people gunning for that.

So basically you would be in on the plot, control villains and npcs, and help to make sure things keep going if I can’t get to my keyboard.

I actually wouldn’t mind having two, though it seems overkill for the number of people who are looking to get in on this.

EDIT: oh, didn’t see those two. Alright, two cos might be pretty good. Especially if one of them isn’t playing a PC. It would add redundancy to make sure there’s always someone.

Hm, there is already someone wanting to use their powers for evil(or, at least petty larceny), but if everyone else is more or less a good guy then that might not be too bad.

How about we just leave it as one failed save, though? I think that should be plenty. Actually, I especially like the idea that it was a choice, and our hero chose wrong.

Question, though. What does his hatred of heroes motivate him to do once he gets his own powers?
Yeah, that’s actually quite perfect here. Now, you may be somewhat antagonistic to the rest of us for a bit, be prepared to get ganged up on.

I do ask that you make sure the character is redeemable. If he does anything too bad, people are going to have a hard time forgiving him. Just sneaky thieving will probably be innocuous enough, though.
Cool!

I don't have everything written in a final form, but here's the ideas:

The premise above. To keep things interesting, so that everyone isn't completely the same, each character will have Spidey's various powers at different levels. I think I will just list out the powers(and I'm going to include Miles Morales' unique ones too), and in your sheet you will divvy it out into percentages.

So, like:

Super Strength:
Speed and Agility:
Spider Sense:
Durability:
Accelerated Healing:
Camouflage:
Venom Blast:

Wall crawling will be a given.

You do not have to have all the powers, so you might be really good in some ways, but, for instance, lack a spider sense.

If you don't like that idea, or think anything else ought to be added to that list, let me know, I'm gauging interest on all parts of this right now.

Now, there are two primary arcs we're gonna start with. The first will just be the characters coming to terms with their powers. It won't be that long, we want to get to the good stuff. And all characters will receive their powers on or before your first post.

As mentioned above, Ozcorp is attempting to duplicate Spider-Man, but they have actually moved on from using literal spiders. Instead their current test uses a virus to carry the mutagenic DNA. It seems to work best on younger people, and so far all of the test subjects(most of which are 25 and up) have failed to present any powers whatsoever. In fact, it creates a sickness that has been fatal in multiple cases.

A lapse of lab safety introduces this virus to the child of one of the scientists working in the lab, who then spreads it to his school(and beyond). It only infects a few dozen people, and of them only a bare handful actually develop powers, at the moment completely unknown to Ozcorp, who of course would be very happy to learn this.

They will, in due course, and the second arc will focus largely on their attempts to capture one of the new Spider-Men who are running around, to learn what made it work on them specifically.

In the meantime, there will be minor villains for our fledgling heroes to try their strength against, and of course plenty of slice-of-life to go around.

Expectations:

I don't like to set hard and fast rules, but here is what is expected in this game.

1: Posting. I am no kind of stickler for post size, but I do always expect a reasonable standard of grammar and spelling. If a post is particularly lousy with errors, I'll shoot you a quick PM and just ask you to proof read it. If you don't(or can't) we'll have a discussion about the quality of your posts. I don't want to have to do that, but I will.

As far as frequency goes, if someone's waiting on you, I should hope for a post within a week. If your character is not currently involved in anything, just post when you're ready. If you know you're going to need a break, or will be gone for a bit, just find an excuse for your character to get sidelined.

2: Content. Just follow the site rules, I don't have any of my own in particular. If something comes up that makes me change my mind, I'll add it in here. I think we all know what does and does not fly.

3: Canon. I personally try to avoid using canon characters, but a large part of this is that there are very very few that I feel I can do justice to. Obviously none of us will be playing canon characters, but if there's one(particularly a villain) that you feel you can do really well, PM me and we might work them in.

This will otherwise take place in a pretty generalized version of the Marvel Universe. The MCU is a good base, though without certain recent events. That being said, no spoilers to anything major and recent. That includes the MCU of course, and also the comics.

Does anyone have specific questions?
The basic premise is that a plan to replicate Spider-Man's formidable power in a lab(run by, guess who, Ozcorp) goes awry, because of course it does. The result is a sort of virus that only works on some people, particularly younger folk.

The cast will be a handful of teens(or children, if anyone wants to go younger) who gain similar powers to Spidey.

I want to keep a strong theme with Spider-man's kind of motto; With Great Power, comes Great Responsibility. The characters would start off as just "regular" joes who have just developed powers. Becoming a super hero is the obvious route, but not everyone will necessarily go that way. Everyone's powers will be based around the ones that Spider-Man has, but each individual might develop in a different way; having one particular aspect particularly strong(and perhaps lacking another one entirely as a trade off).

I also would like to have a co-GM. Someone who can share my ideas for plotting, run NPCs and help keep things going if I become too busy in real life for any kind of stretch, as can happen to the best of us, of course.

So, everyone let me know what you think.
