Name: Cassandra Roth

Appearance

She has special fireproof clothes, but her regular dress is more regular and urban. She's a little on the short side, and doesn't weigh much. Her skin is light brown, her hair curly. Though fire doesn't burn her, it does make her skin sooty black, changing the actual pigment and not just leaving a residue. It fades after a few hours, but even so, she finds it hard to hide when she's been using her elemental power.

Personality: Cassandra is someone who thinks and acts quickly, for better or for worse. She has good manners ingrained strongly, but once formalities are out of the way, it's fair game. Because of her peculiar upbringing since the age of ten, Cassandra is unused to being around people her own age, or indeed anyone who is a peer or equal, rather than a superior in some way. She is still impressionable enough that her social skills are likely to be shaped and possibly changed drastically by how her classmates behave and treat her.

Bio

Cassandra entered the school immediately upon her awakening, and with an air of infamy and expectation. Neither feelings were from anything she had done.
Cassandra came from an out of the way town(the kind with one McDonald's, and no Walmart), and until she was ten years old, had an older brother, Able. Her brother was a mage, with a powerful affinity for the element of life. But he Awakened early. Normal circumstances would have him contained so he could not harm himself, but the local Count was lax, and it was another Vampire altogether who discovered Able. The vampire, William Hess, belonged to no particular family(whether by choice or not, Able never knew) and saw the opportunity to have a mage unregistered, and unknown by the Moonlight Council. Never having a mage before, or been around them in general, William underestimated the risks, and overestimated the reward. Able was strong, very strong, but that would be the undoing of both.

His family never knew about the awakening. Able, coerced by his impromptu partner, kept his magic a secret. As his body degraded, be did his best to grin and bear it, but Cassandra, who was close to him, knew something was seriously wrong. Her parents didn't believe her, at the age of ten, and just believed Able was sick during the last few weeks of his life.

An experiment prompted by Hess finished the job of destroying his body, drastically altering it in the process. Hess fled, having no real feelings for Able, and left him to die. He was found, and lived long enough to tell his short, but sad story to an agent of the Moonlight Council. His family was never shown the body, the agent's mage cremated it the moment he stopped breathing.

Though Able made no mention of any other parties, and it seemed clear they had never known about this, the Roth family was put under surveillance that continues to this day(though now disguised as tutors and helpers for their remaining child). Within an hour of Cassandra's own early Awakening, a mage was at her bedroom door to seal her power away. As should have been done for her brother.

Cassandra and her whole family were spirited away to a new city and a new life, somewhere the Council could not only watch, but guide Cassandra's development. She was tutored, taught those skills most useful to a future vampire partner, though without the ability to put any of the magic into practice.

Though she knows it's just another stage of the vampires keeping eye on her, Cassandra is excited and hopeful that her time at Noila Academy will put her on more equal footing with some of the vampires, and her life will cease to be controlled as strictly.

Likes: Freedom, sunlight and fresh air. Anything and everything that is difficult to come by while living in the care of vampires.
Energy drinks, though she doesn't like coffee at all.
Doing nothing, when she wants to do nothing.

Dislikes: Sleep, particularly during the day. She views it as just more time taken from her.
Being held anywhere she doesn't want to be.

Habits: Staying up late
Sneaking out during the day(it has never been possible for her to do so truly unobserved, but she can avoid her parents finding out)
Speaks without thinking.

This does sound cool. I've a few questions

1) what's the tech level?

2) do the mages actually need their vampire partner? Or is it kind of one-sided, just a result of the deal between the two races?

3) and on that note, are the vampires and the human mages treated equally by staff? Similarly, do the vampires treat them like servants, or actual partners?

4) what all is entailed in the partnership?

5) and lastly, just to clarify, vampires can't use magic, right? That's just for humans?

In regards to underground(or whatever physical separation) vs another dimension: when thinking of the coming from another plane, I was thinking more like the feywild/shadowfell. Like an overlapping kind of thing.

If it's just physical we could play around with a dark forest that they only leave at night, or a walled city, maybe with like a magical, ever present cloud cover.

As far as setup goes, I personally prefer to play just one character.

I think we should be playing under the same house, but I think with dark elves that doesn't necessarily mean we would be cooperating. Of course if an external threat appeared, House pride would trump petty conflicts.

Coming from another dimension, or maybe an overlapping plane would be cool, or else living under ground like the drow. They would be a sort of myth or boogeyman for people of the material plane, or the surface world, depending on which way we would go.

Name: Martins, Robin

Appearance:

Average height for his age, with a slim build. Jeans and a t-shirt is a pretty common uniform, but he wears his old brown jacket almost like a security blanket. It's leather, and lined with fur, maybe too warm for some of the time he sports it.
In contrast to the ever present jacket, he has a rotating and ever growing selection of sneakers. He prefers for them to look new, but is a little hard on them, leading him to replace them often.

Quirk: Impulse This quirk allows the user to emit physical force from the body, in pulses or beams. Any part of the body can be used, but the hands, and to a lesser extent, feet allow for much greater focus.

Drawback: Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Every bit of force ejected, also acts on the body in the other direction. Robin's body is adapted to handle more blunt force than usual, but if you try to blast someone twice your weight, you're going to be moving too.

Questions:

• Given its reputation, why apply to Kokoro Academy?
  I have an older cousin who came here, and she spoke very highly of the program. I know what people say, but I know her more than any of them, so I'll trust that. Unless she was messing with me... But even if she was, you guys have gotten better recently, right?
• Why do you want to be a professional hero?
  A lot of my family is. I have a brother who's an accountant, but other than him anyone who wasn't a hero went into either law enforcement or rescue services. I guess maybe that puts some pressure on me or something, but I like to think that they just show me the best ways to use my power.
• What kind of professional hero do you want to become?
  The kind who blasts bad guys? That doesn't make it sound good. I want to be the kind of hero, the kind of person who doesn't allow people to hurt others. Hero or no, I'll do what I can to keep bad people from doing bad things. If I don't get in, I guess I'll join a neighborhood watch or something.
• Best describe yourself in five sentences.
  I'm fun loving, maybe a little reckless(but I swear I can be responsible when I need to!) I think I'm pretty easy to get along with for most people. Things don't get under my skin easily, I'm good at rolling with the punches. I'm nice; I mean, like kind, I like to help people, lend a hand. And obviously, I'm not very introspective. If I had to be for a second, I'd say I take my, and everyone else's feelings at face value.
• What are you interests and hobbies?
  Skateboarding, I think you can probably see how my quirk can be used for that. I like music, funky stuff you can dance to, like BTS or Too Many Zooz. Okay, those are very different, but they both have what I want. And I guess I like to people-watch, though it's best when you have someone to make commentary with. Like, "Look at that kid, that burger is way too big for him," that kind of thing.
• Are there any notable accomplishments you want to us to be aware of?
  I saved a kid from getting hit by a car once. I saw it coming, and k saw that he didn't so I, uh, I blasted him out of the street. Don't look at me like that, it was better than the car hitting him! It's not the best story, but I did the best I could think of at the time.
• Tell us something about your quirk that most might not know? Any events or memories, be it joyous or ill, tied to it?
  Well I find it pretty straightforward, but a lot of people don't consider how much you have to think about physics. Thermodynamics are the bane of my existence, for starters. But there's a lot of ways to cushion the force, or brace yourself so it doesn't move you. It can lift me off my feet, if I'm not careful. And if I'm really careful, sometimes I can do it on purpose.
• Why should we consider you over the other applicants? What can you offer that they cannot?
  Well if it's time to toot my own horn, my quirk is pretty strong. It's not the flashiest, and it's not the most interesting. But it's reliable, and versatile. And I want to use it to do good. You probably hear all kinds of stuff trying to convince you, but I mean it. I think I've got what it takes, and I think I'm doing it for the right reasons, is all I'm saying.

Fun fact, wolf spiders don't spin webs, they physically hunt their prey, and have excellent eyesight.

Hence Bruce's lack of web shooters(though I'm sure someone will make him some in the story somewhere) and particular power set.

Name: Bruce Bailey III
Age: 20

Background: An average student, despite his father’s meteoric career in genetics. Bruce was raised by his single father, who at the very least tries to be involved and understanding.
Bruce’s main claim to any kind of glory or public recognition was as a runningback on his high school football team. To his chagrin, back home he's particularly famous for the severe injury of another player in his senior year.

After acquiring his powers thanks(he later learned) to a lapse in lab safety at his father's work, he first tried to use them to secure an athletic scholarship. He didn't have much hope of getting into a good school otherwise. When his incredible speed and strength put a student from another school in the hospital, he swore off contact sports, switched to track and field, and donned a super hero costume, in an honest effort to attone for what he had done.

He got his scholarship, though not for the sport he originally intended, and moved to a student apartment in the city.

He’s a dedicated kind of person, who puts himself into what’s important to him, even if that’s not always what others would want for him.

Bruce is a mechanical engineering major, and while he doesn't have the chemical know-how to replicate Spider-Man's web fluid, he has made some other special variations on the classic costume. His mask is hard polymer, more like a helmet, and has extra lenses with fiber optics to feed into his peripheral vision, making use of his enhanced senses to increase his field of vision. It also has an audio relay to increase or alter incoming sound.
