Idk, maybe if the cyborg technologies was given to him by aliens it'd allow him to be a character from the time period.

@Vashonn You can roam all of Kansas, which if you know anything about Kansas the Eastern part is civilization and the West is mostly desert.

Also, imagine this as a world that's exactly as our own, but with Fantasy Creatures and Magic that most everybody knows about, whether in myth or experience.
