Historical romance. Gay shit. ROMANCE. I want it. You do too, that's why you're here!

Boring stuff:

- I'll post maybe once a week due to work and school, potentially more frequently if I'm having a light week and/or am procrastinating. (At the time of this posting I'm about to be on vacation for a while so I'll have some time to kill!) But, I log on daily to check PMs and talk OOC. For me, OOC chat is a must!

- I write at an advanced level. Please send a writing sample when you PM me! I can provide one to you too. That way, we have a better idea whether it'll be a good fit, before we get too in-depth with plotting. To me, "advanced" is as much about writing quality and character development as it is about post length (although I think most of us can agree on quality > quantity and not overly padding a post for length's sake). I can write anywhere from a few solid paragraphs to a few pages, depending on what I'm working with.

- No limits, really. Fade to black is fine, or we can write it out. Generally, smut isn't my favorite thing ever, but I'm GGG if you love it!

- For general interest and edification, I usually play males, but I'm open to any gender/pairing/orientation. At the moment, I'm really craving MxM, but I'm also always open to MxF if you think we'd be a good fit!

- Romance is a must. Drama and angst are a must. Character development is a must.

- I do a wide range of other genres, settings, pairings, etc. So if you think we're a good fit but you're not vibing with these ideas, PM me anyway and we'll go from there! Take a peek at my old ICs if you want~

I have a couple pairing premises in mind.

These notions are open to discussion/interpretation. Obviously these are just a jumping-off point and we'd be plotting a lot more as we go.

Servant x Nobleman

The gist of it is a romance between a servant and a nobleman not form the servant's household. The nobleman is courting a girl from a wealthy family (perhaps to secure his inheritance, or perhaps he is a fortune hunter) and ends up getting entangled with one of their servants.

Yes, I stole this idea from the first episode of Downton Abbey. No, I am not ashamed. I really want to turn this into a story in its own right! It's okay if you haven't seen the show though, I'm not looking to RP Downton Abbey. (Although I guess that could be fun too...)

Beyond the basic premise, I haven't come up with any other ideas. I think it could be interesting if the nobleman character was a bit of a heartbreaker, toying with the servant's emotions (like in the show, lol).

As to who plays whomst, I'm flexible. I think either role could be a lot of fun! I'm slightly leaning towards the nobleman role, though.

Queer Love Affair-- Aristocrat x Someone

Pretty basic idea, but Character 1 is married, and has a queer love affair in secret with Character 2.

Character 2 could be a stranger, someone from another social class, a friend, or even family.

Historical Vampires

God, fuck, I know, it's been done to death, but vampires are sexy and fun, what do you want from me?

I don't have much a premise for this, I'm just craving some gay historical vampire shit (or even some modern vampire shit tbh). Could also be MxF vampire shit, though, lol. We'd have to come up with a plot together.

I'm also open to modern settings as well, I just happen to be craving historical RPs at the moment.

On to the good stuff!

Plot ideas within

YC is an aristocrat from a noble family who is disenchanted with their charmed life of idle wealth. Innocent, and pure, likely the youngest child, YC has been sheltered from the world. One of YC's greatest joys in life is the escapism of seeing shows at the theater.

MC is an actor and playwright-- brilliantly talented but broke, troubled, and living a life of jaded debauchery.

MC writes a play that makes it to one of the more prestigious playhouses. MC gives the performance of his life and meets with accolades and a standing ovation. YC sees said performance, and loves it so much, they want to meet him afterward. YC sees the actors misbehaving backstage and is further intrigued by MC's lifestyle.

YC starts coming around the playhouse more often and gets sucked in to the sordid life of the struggling playwright. MC delights in "corrupting" YC in every imaginable way. Eventually, YC comes to find out that MC has an opium addiction, which started after MC came home from fighting in the Napoleonic Wars. (This could take place in either England or France-- take your pick.)

The two start to fall for each other, and the relationship is turbulent. Culture clashes, social pressures, and heated arguments threaten to tear them apart. Their love is so strong that it seems to withstand anything-- at first. But will YC be able to withstand the pressure from their family to abandon her sordid affair? Will YC get sick of watching MC self-destruct? Or perhaps their love will last until MC's addiction gets the better of him?

I would love for this be quite a dark and intense RP. I'm open to adjusting the plot, although I'm pretty dead-set on playing the troubled opium addict veteran lmao.

On to the good part!

Basic Premise

YC is a noble, man or woman, in the Regency or Victorian era. An invalid, they are often housebound, and spend a lot of time outdoors to benefit their health. The family is extravagantly wealthy and are famed for the lavish gardens on both their country and city estates.

MC is the newly-hired groundskeeper and master gardener, who comes to the estate after the old groundskeeper retires. He's a fairly quiet man of gruff words and calloused but gentle hands. Having grown up in a workhouse, he's used to a hard life, and has worked hard to get to where he is now. Given his history and position, I'm imagining him to be in his forties. (I'm prone to age gaps, lol. If you really want me to age him down, I could make him an apprentice.)

Both our characters are married, which presents as many problems as their class difference does as the two bond over their love of the gardens. YC does as much gardening as they can, but they require MC's help a lot of the time due to their condition. Forced proximity leads to attraction, and eventually, deeper feelings than that.

What we do from there is up to us! Obviously YC's illness will be a source of drama. I was thinking there could be some drama with YC being called away to town, or having to visit the seaside to recover from a particularly bad bout of illness. YC tries to contrive ways to have MC come with them without rousing suspicion. It could also be interesting if one or both of our characters had a relatively happy marriage, thereby complicating things even more.

I'm sure we can come up with more drama between the two of us-- this is just the basic idea!

Here's a sketch of my idea. It's open to discussion/interpretation. Yes, it's tropey, hello, am marshmallow, nice to meet. Obviously this is just a jumping-off point and we'd be plotting a lot more drama and angst and things as we go.

Details

MC is a wealthy nobleman trapped in a loveless marriage. He was once a vibrant and passionate man, but his marriage is slowly killing everything that was once good about him.

His wife is a flighty, superficial creature who loves to take on proteges-- make them over, show them off, and generally treat them like a living doll. Because of her social status, it's considered a great honor to have her attentions. Her husband generally remains aloof from such activities as much as possible, but of course, can only evade his wife's social engagements for so long.

One fateful afternoon, his wife's latest protege-- YC, of course-- comes to tea. Just how YC met the wife is up to you, but ideally I'd like YC to be quite poor, but still respectable-- essentially be a charity case to make the wife look good-- possibly (probably) someone with a deliciously tragic backstory.

MC is reserved, somewhat aloof, and brooding at first. After all these years being married to his wife, he's had to basically shut off his soul just to get by. But when he meets YC, something begins to wake back up inside him, and this time he won't be able to just ignore it.

This could also be played as MxM where the protege character is a friend of a friend, instead. If interested in MxM flavors just let me know and we can work it out via PM.

Hi, hello, BONJOUR, and welcome to my interest check! I'm here to spook up some great 1x1 roleplays.

- My post length can vary from a few paragraphs to a couple of pages, depending on the flow and what you give back. :3 I'd say my "sweet spot" is 3-6 paragraphs these days. Post frequency is variable. Sometimes I can post everyday, sometimes it might be a 2-3 day wait, sometimes it might take a week. I'm a freelance writer so sometimes that has to take precedence over RP stuff. I also have mental health issues that throw me off sometimes. That said, I'll do my best to keep you in the loop as to when posts are coming!

- Also, I love OOC chat! Let's get excited and plot stuff! Even if it's not about the RP, I like to have a good OOC convo going. :D I have Discord for OOC, but would prefer to keep posts on the site due to character limit and stuff.

The following are some premises that have been floating around in my head for a while. We'd have to flesh out the plots, but these are some jumping-off points with more substance than a basic pairing. ♥ Plot Premises ♥

Noble/Aristocrat x Maid/Servant

Just a good ol' upstairs-downstairs romance set in some romantic bygone era-- anywhere from Regency to WWI would be good with me!

I have a couple of character concepts for this plot. One is a disgraced rake of a man with a tragic past and a mild drinking problem. The other is a fortune hunter-- which would make for a very ironic pairing, if he falls for a servant! Either of these could work for MxM or MxF.

Famous band member x Someone

I have a character in mind for this one already, but not much of a plot yet.

Nate is the lead singer of a famous rock band, who was blinded in an accident about a year ago. YC can be Nate's high school sweetheart who got "left behind" when Nate ran off with the band, or they could be a personal assistant hired to help Nate navigate the world without his sight, or-- whatever else you can come up with! They could even be both-- Nate's high school sweetheart unwittingly gets hired to be his personal assistant. Nate doesn't recognize YC just by their voice at first, so maybe YC keeps their identity a secret for a while.

Doctor x Patient

Character A is a mentally unstable doctor in a hospital. He falls for a sick patient, Character B. When the patient starts getting better, the doctor realizes he's going to lose his love. He takes it upon himself to make sure Character B isn't able to leave him by keeping them sick. It's up to us whether Character B will ever find out about it, or whether it could go on indefinitely. I'm open to playing either role!

Taboo Hurt/Comfort Romance

MC is YC's stepfather. YC gets into a bad accident, and/or is disabled, and/or comes down with a serious illness (terminal cancer? for the drama???). MC winds up being their caretaker because YC's mother is extremely busy/absent/dead, while MC works from home.

We could also add an element of distrust/dislike to the roleplay, where MC is new to the household and YC doesn't fully like or trust them yet at the start of the story. Think enemies-to-lovers type vibes, with forced proximity for good measure.

Western Brothel

The setting is a boomtown near a gold mine. It's a rough and violent place to live. MC is a successful miner with a checkered past, who was horribly disfigured in a mining accident. People fear him because of his appearance and because of the rumors about him.

MC owns a brothel where YC is (perhaps newly) employed. MC takes a liking to YC. At first YC is repulsed by, and afraid of, MC. But the more time they spend together, the more YC looks past his gruff exterior, and they begin to heal each other, until we ruin their relationship with more drama and shenanigans.

Even though I wrote this MC/YC, I'm open to either role!

Noble/Upper class invalid x Caregiver x Lover

A chronically ill person needs lots of extra help and care in their day-to-day life. They have a lover already, but when they get a new caregiver, sparks fly. The ill person is then torn between two people, leading to all kinds of drama.

There may eventually be a confrontation between the caregiver and the lover, where chemistry results there too, leading to a poly triad (but not without a shitload of drama, angst, and tension first). We could even bring in a fourth character so that we're both doubling, if you're up for it!

I'm open to taking any role(s) for this plot, but at the moment I'm feeling like playing the two lovers and having someone else play the ill person, caught in between them, would be fun. Originally I pictured this as a MxMxM plot, but this could easily be MxFxM as well, with the female in the invalid role or even as the caregiver or lover.

I'm open to this plot being historical or modern. My original concept was for a Regency/Victorian RP with the ill person being a consumptive (or something along those lines) but I'm mostly just craving the dynamics, which could easily translate to modern day as well! The ill character could have any number of afflictions or even multiple afflictions, all up to you.

Phantom of the Opera

We could play this out any number of ways! We could branch off the original plot, if you like. Or, I have a concept for a modern retelling of the story:

MC would be the Phantom while YC would be the Christine (or Christopher lol) character. I'd like to play this in a modern setting, so the premise would be a bit of a departure from the original.

MC met YC online and began teaching them anonymously. Unbeknownst to YC, MC has become obsessed and is stalking them. When they finally meet face-to-face, YC discovers that MC was disabled/disfigured somehow and can no longer sing/perform the way he used to.

While working with MC, YC becomes a wildly successful singer/songwriter. A romance blossoms between YC and MC. Things seem to be going great, until anyone that poses even the smallest threat to YC's career starts disappearing from the picture, one way or another. Injuries, illness, sabotage, disappearances... even death. At first, it seems like coincidence, until it's one too many coincidences. The way things are playing out, YC starts to wonder if MC has anything to do with it.

Enter the Raoul character, MC2, YC's high school sweetheart. Just as YC is starting to get really scared, they reconnect with MC2. There's still chemistry there, and more importantly, MC2 is a private investigator, uniquely disposed to helping YC uncover the truth about MC.

However, the closer they get, the more dangerous it is. As MC starts to suspect things are going on, it gets more and more dangerous for everyone involved....

Whichever way we go, I just love Phantom and would love to play with these characters somehow. :3

The Gardener and the Invalid

I've had this idea for a while about an invalid nobleman or woman (YC) who has an affair with their gardener (MC). Think misty moors, lavish country estates, stunning gardens, and taking the air on the veranda. I've tried this a couple times, but it's never quite taken off. So I'd love to try again. This could be MxM or MxF, I'm equally open to either! I don't have too many fleshed-out ideas for this plot, so we'd have to do some brainstorming, but I feel like the pairing has potential!
