Bio
I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division "Yankee" and 29th Infantry Division (Light), "The Blue and the Gray". I was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 29th ID (L) in 2001 - 2002. I have also been reading military history articles and books since I was 10 years old. I do prefer Military Role Plays over all other genres, primarily because I have a vast knowledge of the subject including personal experiences. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.
I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about eighteen years ago. I do enjoy Nation Role Plays and get into minute detail when designing my military. The only reason I enjoy excruciating detail in my militaries is because for me, it is fun. My education and experience on this subject afford me the insight to see the depth of the structure. It is not just a General and a large pile of soldiers. If someone wants assistance in designing an army, navy, or air force, please send me a PM. I will help. Please specify what level (echelon) or depth you would like me to go. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.
When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts.
There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.
I have real-world martial arts experience. I would love to write an RP about hand-to-hand combat, no fantasy magic chit, just hands elbows, knees, and feet. Maybe the occasional head butt thrown in to mix things up. I trained in Krav Maga for six and a half years. I earned a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga on 3 June 2017.
Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. It is very brutal, demanding, and aggressive. During the seven years I trained, I have bruised two ribs, sustained several muscle pulls, and various lacerations and bruises over my body. I have received a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist. Before the first black belt test, I received a bone bruise to my right shin; where my roundhouse kicks impact. Yet, I am stupid enough to continue training. [Regardless of the physical pain, it is more fun than any other physical activity I have engaged in. Fortunately, the bone bruise healed up prior to the third and final test. EDIT: I did leave the sport over five years ago. :(]
Over two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.
Send me a PM for a Role Play or if you would like to see what sort of an army I could build for you.

History
What Brings You To Role Player Guild: There is a large community of writers here. I enjoy the hobby even though I rarely get time to participate. Currently, I try to limit my stories to one at a time. Unfortunately, I rarely find one I enjoy and others are willing to write in. When I do, they die way too early. Life Before You Came To Role Player Guild: It was very different. I don’t know how to explain it in just a few words or sentences. Life Since You Came To Role Player Guild: This is just a side hobby. I have many irons in the fire and this is just one of them. It has taken a back seat to my real life activities.

Behaviors we consider heinous crimes today were generally accepted practices many years ago. Anything Else:
@Dead Cruiser I noticed Shorticus' land claims. Originally, I had considered that northern Peninsula closest to Hyperborea, but I see Shorticus has intentions there as well. If He does indeed get that piece of terrain, I would like to claim the area immediately to the East of his region. I will have edits up by COB on Friday.
Alias or Nickname: Fiske (Pron: Fee' - skah & translates: Fish) Age: 50 Gender: Male
Appearance:
Gunnar Fisker stands 6' 4" tall and weighs 220 Lbs. He has long bleached blonde dyed hair with gray and dark roots, blue eyes and a neatly trimmed beard and mustache. The facial hair is mostly gray with a few dark hairs mixed in. His hair is neatly secured behind his head in a ponytail at the nape of the neck. Occasionally, his hair is braided. His musculature is very well defined with very broad shoulders. His left eye is missing and a white polished marble is in the socket in its place. Occasionally he wears an eye patch over the left eye. Gunnar wears a small leather necklace containing a small steel "Hammer" amulet around his neck. It is in reverence to Donar, the traditional Hyperborean God of Thunder.
Gunnar is not a handsome man and has never taken a wife. He has an oval shaped ruddy face, weathered from years of a hard Northman's life. A visible scar begins on his forehead at the hairline above his left eye and continues across his left cheek to the jaw-line. The scar interrupts his beard in a vertical line.
Personality: Gunnar is slightly sociopathic, in that he has no concern for others. He cares about his "family" and the people of his adopted community of Trelleborg, along the northern Borean coast. He has no feelings whatsoever for anyone outside this community. He feels no remorse for bringing harm upon someone else's son, in a faraway land. He is focused at his trade and not easily distracted. He is generally quiet and reserved.
History: Gunnar was born in a small fishing village along the southern coast of Hyperborea. His father was a ship builder and fisherman and his father's father was a ship builder and fisherman. Both men enjoyed the social status of Jarl in the community. He is a master with the spear as well as a net in retrieving bushels of fish each day. But above all, Gunnar, his father and his father's father are fierce Northern warriors. Gunnar enjoys the company of several sturdy young lads who assist in plying the trade of shipbuilding and fishing. Gunnar rewards them handsomely for their work and treats them with the same respect one bestows upon his brother.
Gunnar learned from his father and grandfather to build longships for fishing, merchants and raiding. He and his "brothers" cut the wood for the vessels as well as milling and planing the timbers. When the family was young, Gunnar's parents moved the family to Northern Borea along the coast. A group of Northmen established a colony there, which they defend vigorously. When his father passed away, Gunnar inherited his land of some 100 acres surrounding an inlet. His mother and sister live with him in their home. The house is a modest dwelling, yet comfortable. Several of his "brothers" have constructed homes on Gunnar's property where they live as well. They all help to maintain the property, which is less than five hundred meters from the nearest village, Trelleborg.
As a member of the community, Gunnar is expected to fight for the people of his land and he is skilled with the axe, spear, short sword and long sword with and without a shield. He has participated in several raids, which is how he lost his left eye. As a result he mounted the steel plate or "spectacle" on his helm for protection against such a blow.
Gunnar is noted for mastery of fishing, Excellent sailing vessel construction and ferocity in battle, even with his vision impairment. Gunnar also enjoys playing games of chance.
Gunnar's father along with many others left their home in search of a new home at a time when their kinsmen abandoned the old ways in favor of the newer Dark Gods. It has saddened many in the Trelleborg village that their friends have mutated into creatures no longer recognizeable. That they have turned their backs on Alfoor, the All Father and Walhölé. Most of those things remain in Hyperborea, but several have made their way into Lemuria and the northern border with Borea. The Trelleborg community remains distant and detached from those mutants, or former Hyperboreans.
Journey: Gunnar seeks to see Trelleborg succeed. He wants the Northmen of his village to multiply and make their community grow. He has given up on his homeland and wants only for the survivors to replenish their ranks; avoiding contact with their home country. On the other hand, Gunnar has an unquenchable desire for plunder. It is not above the venerable Northern Warrior to take up an axe, to split skulls and grab the gold when available. But these urges are quickly stifled. It would not take much to bend his arm in favor of a raid or plundering the merchants on the Atlantean Ocean.
Ideals: Gunnar wishes to continue to further the values of the traditional Hyperborean Gods. the Northmen are fierce warriors and wish only for a healthy life and the din of battle. To die by an enemy's sword is a life well spent.
Holdings: Gunnar owns approximately 100 acres of land along an inlet on the northern Borean Coast. Upon this property is his longship building business, fishing enterprise and several houses owned by the young men who work with him at his trades of shipbuilding and fishing.
In warmer months, Gunnar wears sun-bleached and salted gray colored Thorsberg trousers, light blue side split Kyrtle (tunic) with a black leather belt at the waist. He wears ankle high Hedeby leather shoes. The rest of the year (most of the time), Gunnar wears the same trousers, shoes and side split Kyrtle, worn as an under kyrtle with an over tunic made of quilted wool. He also wears a small brown wool skull cap and brown leather vambraces and leather & wool-lined gloves.
Gunnar has both a mail coat and a leather jerkin made of Reindeer hide and reinforced with steel rivets and studs. Depending on what is happening he may choose one over the other. He has a steel conical helmet riveted together with four steel strips. At the apex of the helm is a plume of animal fur that drapes down one side or the back. It is about eight inches long. A section of mail is attached to the rear of the helm for additional protection to the back of the neck. Upon the face of the helm is mounted a steel 'spectacle' or large round holes for viewing. The spectacles offer some protection to the face. There was a time when Gunnar did not wear such an attachment. The helmet has cheek flaps attached with leather under the chin. He wears a small leather belt at the waste that cinches the tunics together. Attached to the belt are a pouch at the rear for light provisions, a small axe holder on the right, a sword's scabbard on the left side and small horizontal scabbard placed across the front of the waist to hold his sax; a small 18" short sword made of steel with a bone handle.
Gunnar has a small Skeg Axe named "Lothar", several leaf edge headed spears, a double edged broad sword named "Hode-ut", the 18" Sax or short sword as mentioned above and a few steel reinforced wooden shields. All of Gunnar's shields have a steel rounded 'Boss' at the center and are painted with Red and black stripes. Gunnar owns a nine heavy horse as well, including a large 17 hands high mount named "Fyrste". His other horses are named, "Donner", "Konge", "Lyn", "Okse", "Drage", "Øgle", "Ørn" and "Per".

I have begun work on a pantheon of Hyperborean Gods. It is based on Norse Mythology. I have taken the traditional Norse God names, researched the etymological origins, changed a letter or two and created the Hyperborean Name. :D It remains a work in progress.

He does occasionally wonder about his parents; believing them to be dead. Although he has had occasional dates in his life, he never had a serious relationship with a woman. This is his one regret. Now he worries this may never happen, given the current state of affairs in the world. It is not that he is looking for a woman, in fact, he puts the notion out of his mind as one of those things he is incapable of achieving.
Backstory: Calvin Young grew up in West Roxbury, a neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. West Roxbury is home to Boston Police Officers and Calvin's father Reginald "Reggie" served the city of Boston for over thirty years, rising to the rank of Superintendant in charge of the Bureau of Investigative Services (BIS), which consists of the Homicide Unit, Drug Control Unit, Family Justice Center and Forensic Science Division. Due to his father's position in the community, young Calvin always had to keep his nose clean. His father was tough on him, insuring he kept out of trouble.
Calvin played football at Fenway High School on Alleghany St. Calvin played varsity Safety and excelled on defense. He exhibited leadership on and off the field unifying the defensive squad into a cohesive team. Occasionally, he was called upon to play Running Back or Receiver.
Although Calvin excelled at athletics, he did not do so well in academic pursuits. He did however graduate with his classmates in 2123. Immediately following High School, Calvin found that job prospects were deplorable and enlisted in the United States Army. He chose the Military Occupational Specialty 13F Fire Support Specialist. He conducted Basic Combat Training (BCT) and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma learning how to call in any and all indirect fire available to the US Army. This included Artillery, Multiple Launch Rocket Systems and Infantry Mortars.
Calvin's first duty assignment was with the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Field Artillery Regiment in the US 1st Armor Division at Ft. Bliss, Texas. While at Ft. Bliss, Calvin found a martial arts school off post that taught the Israeli Self Defense form, Krav Maga. Private First Class Young really enjoyed the physicality of the exercise along with the aggressiveness. He took to it immediately.
Calvin Young spent his first three years in the Army with 2-3FA, 1AD ending up as a Specialist. When he was due to re-enlist, he was offered a promotion to Sergeant and training in US Army Special Forces. He was actually quite excited about this offer and snapped it up right away.
Sergeant Young then transferred to Ft. Benning, GA where he underwent four weeks of Airborne school. This training was actually more physical fitness than anything else. Fortunately, for Calvin, he had been focusing on his fitness since he was a Freshman in High School taking up weight lifting and then later as a brand new recruit training in Krav Maga in Texas.
After receiving his silver parachutist badge, he then headed to Ft. Bragg, North Carolina and the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center. This was one of the most grueling experiences of his lifetime. He spent almost a year in the Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQ). Finally after four years in the US Army, Sergeant Calvin Young was a 22-year old 18B, Special Forces Weapons Sergeant.
Sergeant Young was assigned to the 5th Special Forces Group in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky for five years. As a member of Operational Detachment Alpha (ODA) #5213, A Company, 2nd Battalion, Sergeant Young saw action in Yemen, Somalia, Eqypt, Afghanistan, Pakistan, UAE, Iraq, Chad and Syria. About two years into his time with the 5th Group, Calvin Young was promoted to Staff Sergeant.
Next, he transferred to 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta (1st SFOD-D), popularly known as Delta Force. While with Delta, SSG Young saw action all over the world. SFOD Delta is assigned missions based on the threat level assigned by the President of the United States of America (POTUSA). Delta is used for hostage rescue and counterterrorism, as well as direct action and reconnaissance against high-value targets.
While with 5th SFG, Calvin Young used his Fire Support Specialist skills in calling in Artillery, mortar and rocket fire when needed. Often times, his ODA had a USAF Forward Air Control Party attached which provided guidance for Tactical Air assets providing Close Air Support. In conjunction with his duties as a Special Forces Weapons Sergeant and Forward Observer, SSG Young cross trained with US Air Force Forward Air Controllers to learn their duties as well. While with 5th SFG, SSG Young became qualified to call in Close Air Support attacks from Tactical Air assets provided in theater. These skills he has been able to utilitize with Indirect Fire Support units within Shadow Task Group (STG) or Private Military Corporations contracted to support STG in their operations.
It was during this time, that the US Army was called upon to assist with fighting the machines. The 5th SFG was already forward deployed to North Africa. SSG Young saw action in and around Cairo, Egypt, fighting the machines created by the corporations years before. He truly did not understand how the machines had acquired independent intelligence from a human operator, but was unfortunately, not in a position to question. As a Fire Support Specialist and Forward Air Controller for his Operational Detachment Alpha, SSG Young called in volumes of both indirect fired artillery and rocket projectiles as well as air launched munitions.
The unit was called back to the States in 2131, just before the launch of Weapons of Mass Destruction. He enjoyed being back home in Kentucky, but also quietly craved to be back in the shit. When he was in theater, he wanted to be home, but when he was home, he wanted to be in theater. It a crazy situation, but he dealt with it best he could.
When he heard about the WMD use all over the world, he cringed. He lost contact with his father and mother up in Boston. He knew he dad had his hands full with his duties with BPD. Things became darker and there were too many uncertainties in life.
After ten years in the army, one year after joining ODA-D, Calvin Young was promoted to Sergeant First Class at the age of 28. Also, due to his duty assignments in the US Special Operations Command, he was able to continue his training in Krav Maga. He did however miss one year of training while he was at JFK-SWC, but US Special Operations Units train in Krav Maga as a Standard Operational Procedure. Everyone in USSOCOM trains in Krav.
Due to the nuclear winter imposed on everyone, much of the civilian populace has gone underground. Even SFC Young's 1st SFOD-D spends most of its time underground. Advancements in exo-skeletons and the use of environmentally contained suits has allowed the Special Forces teams to operate above ground for short durations. SFC Young and his teammates do what they can to survive and complete their missions.
In 2135, while on a reconnaissance and surveillance operation in the Washington, DC area, SFC Young's Delta Team came in contact with Mutants. While in a fight for their lives, one member of the team, Anthony Gregario was bitten by mutated human. The infection time was rapid. SSG Gregario became enraged and displayed extreme aggression as well as superior speed. "Doc" Kraznowski had to put him down. It was tragic. SFC Young's team leader, Master Segeant Holloway reported their observations up the chain of command as soon as they were debriefed. That was when the order was given to shoot on sight, any contact with mutated humans and if possible to destroy them at a distance. While snipers became an excellent tool for targeting individual targets, SFC Young's skills with directing Indirect Fire and Tactical Air assets helped to destroy large herds of the infected population.
Even with the limited successes the US Army had in 2135, it was not enough. The machines and mutated lifeforms have pushed the healthy humans underground. The organizational structure of the US Military has disintegrated. Experienced personnel were urged to join Private Military Corporations like Shadow Task Group. This is exactly what former Sergeant First Class Calvin Young did.
Timeline: I took Anima's timeline and integrated Calvin Young's timeline to see how they mesh together. This helped me in writing the backstory for SFC Young.
2105: Born August 15. Given this information, he is either 31 if the current date is prior to his birthdate in 2137 or 32 if after his birthdate.
2112: Cryus Corporation announced the successful creation of the first independent AI machine. The bankrupt corporation quickly skyrocketed to the most powerful entity in the world. Mass distribution of the machines are assembled in undisclosed locations.
2112: Calvin is 6 or 7 years old and unaware of Cyrus Corporation and their machines.
2115: The machines have been further refined for cheaper assembly. Almost every household now owns a personal machine.
2115: Calvin is 9 or 10 years old. His father is a Boston City Police Detective. The Detective Lieutenant purchases a "Cyrus Machine" for the home. Calvin is curious.
2116: Ethics Community created to protect the rights of the machines. However, human bias of the committee made each law work in the interest of mankind. Machine sympathizers began riots in the streets. Minor domestic disturbances, only a few deaths reported. The same cannot be said of the machines.
2116: Calvin is 10 or 11 years old. He notices his father's work load increases during the Back Bay Riots that summer.
2123: Calvin Graduates HS & joins the Army. Reginald Young is appointed Superintendant of the BIS.
2126: Calvin Young is promoted to Sergeant and begins Special Forces Training.
2127: Learning from the past, strict rules were enforced. Law enforcement has become integrated into the Ethics Committee. Many anti-synthetic extremist carry out atrocious crimes against humanities synthetic siblings.
2127: Calvin Assigned to 5th SFG. First and Second deployments to Middle East.
2128: Calvin participates in five separate deployments to North Africa and the Middle East. He has not time or interest in reading about or understanding what is happening in the realm of AI enhanced machines or the term Anti-Synthetic exrtremist.
2129: First reported crime of murder by the hands of a machine. Law enforcement and civilian alike treat machines with heavy prejudice. Strong resentment and disregard for the platforms begin. The streets of every nation is set ablaze with violence. Initially, the machines don’t retaliate. However, it didn’t stay like that for long.
2129: Calvin is promoted to Staff Sergeant and returns to the Middle East and North Africa for six more deployments. He calls in several Close Air Support Missions using F-68 Thunderbird Attack Aircraft. The F-68 is an enhanced VII Generation Attack Aircraft encompassing VTOL/STOL capabilities, stealth, and improved avionics which can generate 30+G turns and naturally UCAV capabilities. A human cannot survive the turns this aircraft is capable of making. A few models of the F-68 are manned providing the Air Force's desired human eye perception of the 22nd Century battlefield.
2130: Military forces are called in. The revolt of the machines have begun. Every corner of the once great megalopolises are filled with death. The machines begin to develop weapons of their own through the salvage and rapid research that they can command. Slowly, humanity is slowly losing their ground.
2130: Calvin and the 5th SFG are assigned to the French Base at Djibouti. They conduct numerous operations against machines in Northeastern Africa; specifically in Egypt.
2131: Humanity resorts to WMDs in hopes of destroying their creations. With heavy regret, death reigns from above as whole cities are leveled. Families unable to flee to safe distances are vaporized under the extreme heat of human made missiles. However, the objective was successful. The machines were halted... for now.
2131: Calvin's ODA is evacuated from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, mere hours before a 100 Megaton nuclear Warhead detonates over this Middle Eastern City killing an estimated 1.8 Million People.
2132: Assigned to 1st SFOD-D and deploys to several classified locations around the world including Egypt, Russia and Beijing China.
2133: Earth has become polluted with radiation and nuclear winters. Humanity has quickly fled to underground cities. There, new generations are born. Life goes on, but new dangers have arrived.
2133: SSG Young is promoted to Sergeant First Class. His Operational Detachment Delta (ODD) has been recalled back to the US permanently. SFC Young will never be deployed outside the US again. Times have become too difficult in country to send troops overseas. He and his ODD conduct several patrols in NBC Suits (MOPP-4). Occasionally contact with the Machines occurs. The ODD is supported by a squadron of F-68s and a battalion of MLRS. He uses them occasionally during operations in Northern Virginia.
2135: First encounter with the mutated has been confirmed. Studies have confirmed the infectivity of a bite from the infected. Anatomy has revealed that and saliva or any particle of blood can cause immediate infection. Infectees are enraged and show extreme aggression as do they have superior speed. All combat personnel are ordered to kill on sight. Distance kills recommended.
2135: SFC Young's last patrol in Eastern US results in the mutated death of a teammate. Calvin is horrified and happy to make it out of DC alive. Later that year, the US Army dissolves and the survivors are left to make their way to safety in the underground cities or wherever Safe Haven can be found.
2136: SFC Young agrees to join Shadow Task Group in order to fight against both the Mutants and the Machines.
2137 (Present Day): Humanity has lost any hope in reclaiming the surface. The infected and the machines have supremacy. Contact has been lost with many underground cities while surface settlements have also been lost. The population is slowly diminishing. The golden age of humans is over.
During the construction of this Character Sheet, I made the inaccurate assumption that Major Command and Sub Major Commands within the US Army would remain organized in the early 22nd century as they are in the early 21st Century. I say inaccurate because the US Army changes its organizational structure more frequently than once every 100 years. As a notice of validity, the author of this character sheet spent 21 years in the US Army retiring 14 years ago as an Infantry Officer. If I didn't know something, I researched it.
Now I'm glad I read the older OOC thread and some of the IC posts from over two months ago. Now I have a clue. I should be able to have Gunnar Fisker wrapped up by the end of the day today.
If this RP is continuing forward, I would like to participate. As a former Infantryman, I would take on an Operator's position. I see Sniper, medic and demolitionist taken. I could take on a role as either Fire Support Operator (FSO), Forward Air Controller (FAC) or Heavy Weapons Specialist.
FSO - Calls in indirect fire from Direct Support (DS) Artillery or Supporting vessel orbitting immediately above the Unit's Area of Operations (AO).
FAC - Helps guide friendly Attack Aircraft onto observable targets conducing Close Air Support (CAS) Operations.
Heavy Weps - Knowledgeable of friendly and hostile indirect fire weapons to include artillery, mortars and rocket batteries. May carry a Squad Light Machine Gun (LMG) during operations.
Of course, my terminology is all real world stuff. I need to get into more depth on what you all have written. But this does look fun.
Name: Jackson Steel Nick: "Jack", "Jacko", "Jackal" or "Cold Steel"
Superhero Alias: Iceman
Age: 29
Gender: Male
Appearance: Jackson Steele stands 6' tall and weighs 188 Lbs. He is in decent shape as he works out when he has time and is in good health at the moment. Jackson suffers from Albinism, a skin pigment affliction that explains his very pale complexion and white hair. The illness also insures his eyes are a very light blue color. Due to his condition, Jackson wears sunglasses all the time, even when in doors. Since Jackson is partial to the color red, he has stitched a thin red piping into his X-men uniform.
Personality: Jackson is an intelligent young man, polite and considerate of others. He is positive and upbeat. He tends to quiet, conservative and uninterfering of other people's activities. Jackson will not speak to someone unless they have spoken to him first. He tends to be reactionary when it comes to interpersonal relationships. The knowledge that he may die from Cancer any year and that his mortality is not as long as everyone else's weighs heavy on his mind, but he retains a buoyant flair about his personality. Once he warms up to someone, he has a warm and friendly smile. He is the type of person who appears to be genuinely concerned for others.
Power and other abilities: Jackson is able to shoot water from his extended hands as if his arms were fire hoses. He can vary the temperature of the water to turn it to ice if need be. He can also alter the temperature around him within a 30 - 80 foot radius of his location. Lastly, he can protect everyone within 30 - 80 feet of his position from feeling the effects of cold temperatures. This protection has no defense against intense heat. If Jackson is an arid environment, he cannot shoot water from his fingertips. There must be water in the air or a nearby source for this ability to work. The water comes out only if he wills it. Otherwise, he is like a normal fair haired and fair-skinned human. Jackson himself is immune to any harmful effects of extreme cold weather. Heat, sunlight and fire on the other hand can be detrimental.
The range of Jackson's protection depends on his health. He suffers from skin cancer, but the illness is currently in remission. When the cancer takes over his body, he becomes weak and is unable to perform any of his abilities. Doctors have tried chemotherapy and minor invasive surgeries, which have not worked. Generally, within six to eight months after a procedure, the cancerous tissue will return. When the cancer weakens him, the range of Jackson's frost protection becomes lessened or closer to the 30-foot point. When he is in good health, he can expand his abilities to 80 feet. Increased exposure to the sun increases his chances of the cancer coming out of remission. He must keep his skin covered with clothing and apply SPF 50+ sunscreen to his face and hands in order to go out of doors.
Backstory: Jackson Steel was born and raised in Westwood, MA. He attended parochial school at St. Catherine's of Sienna in Norwood through Grade 5, St. Sebastian's Academy in Needham from grades 6 - 8 and Xavarian Brothers High School from grades 9 - 12. Jackson also holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Boston College and a Master's degree in Molecular Biology from Tufts University. He uses his skills to understand both his immunity to cold and his cancer. While in middle and high school, Jackson learned to play the violin and enjoys performing classical violin pieces.
Jackson's father inherited his father's and grandfather's wealth. He was a principal shareholder in several Health Care facilities in the greater Boston area. He served as Chairman of the board of trustees for Partner's healthcare. Jackson's mother works as a television reporter for Channel 5 WCVB News in Needham, MA.
Jackson was born at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in 1983. Upon birth, he was immediately diagnosed with Albinism, a rare skin pigmentation disorder that determined he would have white hair and very light blue eyes for the rest of his life. This also left him mildly photophobic and sensitive to the UV rays of the sun. He must wear sunscreen and be protected from the sun's deadly rays at all times.
Naturally, it isn't always possible to keep a child protected especially one is curious about the world and wants to get outside to play with friends. He was diagnosed with skin cancer at age 12 and has undergone a battery of tests and procedures to cure him of his ailments ever since. Currently his cancer is in remission and he is enjoying a good health moment.
When Jackson was six years old, his mother noticed her son playing in the backyard on their swing set. There was more than three feet of snow on the ground and the thermometer read 20 degrees Fahrenheit. It is common to allow a child to play outside in the wintertime. Like most parents, Jackson's mother bundled him up in his snowsuit, boots, wool hat and mittens. When his mother looked out this one day in January of 1990, she noticed her son playing on the swings wearing a pair of sweats, a short-sleeved shirt and his boots.
Fearful that her son would catch a cold, she ran outside and yelled for him to come inside. When she touched his arm, she felt that it was warm instead of the cool temperature you would normally feel on someone's skin who has been exposed to sub freezing temperatures for at least an hour. Her mother thought it odd and kept an open mind. She brought him inside and kept an eye on him for the next several years.
During his elementary school years at St. Catherine's, Jackson's mother observed his ability to form ice from a glass of water. Jackson was just learning about his abilities at this same time. Slowly over time, the abilities detailed above came out when he played with his friends. Doctors checked him over and ran many tests to understand how he was able to manipulate the temperature in his immediate surroundings or turn water into ice. The doctors were continually baffled and let it go as a fluke. In fact, it was during these tests at the age of 12 that they detected the skin cancer.
Age: 36 Gender: male Profession: owns "Club Realto" an upscale night club in the inner city. This is where the younger wealthy crowd hang out. Appearance: Al is 5' 10" tall and weighs 190 lbs. He has black hair and blue eyes. He is considered handsome and knows it. Al typically wears a very nice looking and expensive suit that is tailor cut to his dimensions. Al is in decent shape, not too muscular, but not soft either. He speaks with a New York accent
Personality Alonzo Martinelli is generally laid back, but when provoked can and will use his fists to do his talking. When other people see Al, they see a serious minded man who pays attention to details and is someone you don't want to mess with. Alonzo is aggressive when he needs to be and passive when the situation warrants it. He is charismatic and his looks can turn a lady's head.
Al does have a penchant for espresso and pastries; Apple turnovers are his favorite. He does work out regularly at the gym and goes for regular runs around local streets. Al believes that since he takes care of himself it is OK to treat himself to a pastry once in awhile.
Al is not overly concerned with living in accordance with the laws of the city. He has turned his eye away from some underhanded business that has occurred in his club. He pays money to the local authorities to keep them out of his business and has been seen in the company of some unsavory characters. Skills: Al is a good talker. He can charm someone easily. He is good with numbers and checks the books at his night club. Al is trained in the use of handguns. He owns a pair of ivory handled .45 caliber pistols. Weapons on hand: He keeps the two colt .45s (Auto) locked up in his desk at Club Realto. He carries them home with him at night and then returns to the club in the afternoon with them for business. He also has a small framed snub nosed .38 special (S&W) tucked into the back of his belt.
Name: Benjamin Giguere Nick: "Ben" or "Gigger" Gender: Male Age: 28
Appearance: Ben is not handsome. He stands 5' 9" tall and weighs 170 Lbs. His muscles are taut from years of working a farm or pounding spikes on the railroad. He has steel gray eyes and short brown hair which is usually dirty. His fingernails are normally black and/or filled with grease. Gigger normally wears blue dickies, solid colored T-shirts and Red Wing steel toed boots. He chews tobacco frequently and you might find traces of partially chewed tobacco in his chin stubble or drippings on his T-shirt.
Bio: Ben Giguere was born and raised in Bellows Falls, Vermont, not far from the Connecticut River. His father was an avid Red Sox fan and would take young Benjamin to the country store in North Walpole, New Hampshire just to get a glimpse of "Pudge", Carlton Fisk after his retirement from the White Sox in 1993.
Ben's father, Paul owned a farm in the hills south of Bellows Falls not far from the Railroad tracks and the river. Farming in Vermont is difficult; you go to work before the sun comes up and you finish long after the sun goes down. Paul Giguere was disciplined about the farm and kept at it all day long. When the Ben was not in school, doing homework or sleeping, he was helping his old man on the farm.
Often times while out harrowing a field, bailing hay or harvesting field corn, Paul would tell his son that he should look into working for the Central Vermont Railroad which ran along the eastern edge of their property. Ben rarely took his father's suggestions seriously, but tended to his work regardless. When Ben graduated from Bellows Falls Union High School, he never looked back. He did play Defensive Back for The Terriers and outfield on the baseball team, but never good enough to go to College. Nor were his grades all that impressive; lucky to have all Cs.
He went to work for his father full time after school, but found being around dad all day to be irritating; cramping his style. He quietly drove down to the railroad office for the Green Mountain Railway located in North Walpole to inquire about employment. He was told they were not hiring, but that he should check with the New England Central in St. Albans, VT. He was given a phone number to call.
Following a two week hiring process, Ben hired onto the New England Central Railroad, formerly the Central Vermont in 2002. He took a job working as a Track Maintenance Technician. This meant he would have to inspect portions of the rail that ran from the Canadian border north of St. Albans, south to the Massachusetts border at Vernon, VT. He learned the job working with an experienced trackman. He and three other rode in the same "High railer" inspecting track and replacing 100 pound and 130 Pound rail where it was needed. Every year they also engaged in replacing the large wooden ties, soaked in creosote. It was usually, the hottest day of the summer when they were working the tie job.
Paul Giguere and his sons Benjamin and Preston who was two years younger than Ben engaged always looked forward to the Deer hunting season in late November and early December. The nice thing about Vermont is they have a Rifle Season. Unfortunately, their Massachusetts neighbors to the south only have shotgun season. This tends to send a flock of clueless flatlanders north into the hills of Vermont to get lost. There were more than a few times when Ben and his father and brother would run across a flatlander winded somewhere west of Windsor Mountain searching for the way out of the woods. They would offer their assistance and help the godforsaken clueless bastards out, and then laugh at them behind their backs later on. It made for some funny stories.
His favorite hunting rifle was a Marlin .30-.30 lever action rifle. His dad used a Marlin 336C in .35 cal. Both rifles had 7x50 scopes mounted on them. His brother, Preston used a Remington .30-06 which also had a 7x50 scope mounted on it.
After the Russians invaded, things did not go well for Ben. His parents, Paul Giguere and wife Lauren were killed from an automobile accident on Interstate 91. The death of his parents devastated Ben. He viewed the Russian invasion with hatred. Although, the invasion did not directly cause his parent's death, it did facilitate it. With the presence of Russians in Bellows Falls, Ben took to the hills in search of a rebellion force he had heard about one day at work. He put together his standard hunting kit along with a few extra supplies. He also took his 26 year old brother, Preston with him.
Psychological Profile: Ben never cared for politics, as was his attitude toward school in general. He focused on his work and his hobbies. He enjoyed working, whether it be farming or track maintenance and he loved hunting. Ben's father, Paul was firm while raising his two sons, but fair. He was never too hard on them, but didn't let them slide by either. He made them work for everything they achieved and this has shown through in their personalities. Both boys are quiet and polite. They are hard to rattle.
Ben really doesn't have an opinion of the current situation other than he knows the Soviet invasion is bad. He would like to help return Vermont and the US back to the way it used to be. He is willing to fight to bring back the USA.

Theme Song: Warrior’s Call

--Gunther (AKA: Old School)

Gunther [+]

Character Summary

Name: Gunther
Aliases: Landain
Age: old (I was around when George Washington was a Lieutenant)
Birthday: August 12
Ethnicity: French, English, & Seneca (Iroquois Confederation)
Location: New England
Gender: Male
Higher Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science & Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice
Occupation: Substitute School Teacher
Languages: English, Spanish, German & a little French
Years RPing: 18
Preferred RP Section: Advanced or Casual
RP Level: Advanced
Dedication Level: Moderate
Biggest RP Pet Peeve: People who do not communicate with the group and drop. He attends Catholic mass with his family regularly and attempts a life free from sin. He can be a very moody person swinging from very warm, friendly, and extroverted to quiet and secluded. He hates winter; January and February make him very depressed. Gunther loves his children and would do anything for them and his wife.

Gunther is a morning person, but that comes from a life of serving in the military. He would rather go to bed early and get up early; prefers to exercise in the morning over working out just before bed.
