If you are a fan of Warhammer 40,000 or Age of Sigmar, let me know. Maybe we can put together an RP. I play Ironjawz & Kruleboyz in AOS and Salamanders & Drukhari in 40K.

Bio

I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division "Yankee" and 29th Infantry Division (Light), "The Blue and the Gray". I was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 29th ID (L) in 2001 - 2002. I have also been reading military history articles and books since I was 10 years old. I do prefer Military Role Plays over all other genres, primarily because I have a vast knowledge of the subject including personal experiences. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.

I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about eighteen years ago. I do enjoy Nation Role Plays and get into minute detail when designing my military. The only reason I enjoy excruciating detail in my militaries is because for me, it is fun. My education and experience on this subject afford me the insight to see the depth of the structure. It is not just a General and a large pile of soldiers. If someone wants assistance in designing an army, navy, or air force, please send me a PM. I will help. Please specify what level (echelon) or depth you would like me to go. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.

When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts.

There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.

I have real-world martial arts experience. I would love to write an RP about hand-to-hand combat, no fantasy magic chit, just hands elbows, knees, and feet. Maybe the occasional head butt thrown in to mix things up. I trained in Krav Maga for six and a half years. I earned a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga on 3 June 2017.

Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. It is very brutal, demanding, and aggressive. During the seven years I trained, I have bruised two ribs, sustained several muscle pulls, and various lacerations and bruises over my body. I have received a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist. Before the first black belt test, I received a bone bruise to my right shin; where my roundhouse kicks impact. Yet, I am stupid enough to continue training. [Regardless of the physical pain, it is more fun than any other physical activity I have engaged in. Fortunately, the bone bruise healed up prior to the third and final test. EDIT: I did leave the sport over five years ago. :(]

Over two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.

Send me a PM for a Role Play or if you would like to see what sort of an army I could build for you.

I would have preferred to have a map of the area we were dropping into prior to starting the RP. But we'll draw what we know as we go along; preserve that "mapping" quality found in fantasy role play games. Sure, why not!? :)

If you view my crude map above, I do not know if the platform is square, rectangular or some other unconventional shape. I also do not know if the edges are along the cardinal points of the compass or if the platform is angled in such a way that it would appear as a diamond if you were view it from the sky. I made the assumption it was square in shape.

I was surprised to learn that a distance of 10 Kilometers could be achieved by walking from one location in the interior to another location within the interior of the platform. I was expecting a platform that may have been half a kilometer long at its widest point. This sucker is much larger than I anticipated. With that said, I intended for the team to drop in the northwest corner of Delta, rather than the southeast-central region. See this quote below, written based on the principle, that I as an author had no prior knowledge to what the Halaom Haba platforms looked like.
Tyus scanned the DZ for a suitable landing spot. The best he could come up with was the top of the infrastructure along the northwestern corner.

It does make it so much easier to write a convincing story if this information is shared ahead of time. I understand @Capra wants to maintain the element of surprise in order to make for a more interesting story, but maps should not a surprise in a story like this.

Moving Forward...
Now, a decision needs to be made. Granted I could just take off and lead the team along route A, B or C and expect everyone to tag along. How about we talk about it first? @The Spectre@thecircus@cpldingo I honestly, do not like Option C, taking the subterranean route to find Seth, primarily because we lose communications and the value of satellite imagery provided by Miller (AKA Khan) is too great to do without.

If we move along route A, we move north of the hospital in the center and closer to Halaom Haba soldiers and their base in the Northeast corner, assuming there is sufficient room for four people to maneuver between the hospital and the military base. This area, as Capra mentions is secured by HH soldiers and they may or may not be friendly towards us. We would need to move undetected and quickly to get to our objective ASAP.

If we move along route B, we move closer to the fighting going on in the south and southwestern sectors of the platform. We run the risk of being targeted in what is otherwise a very volatile situation. I believe we have a higher risk of mission failure if we move along route B simply because instead of HH soldiers shooting at us along the northern route, we now have HH Soldiers and this unknown enemy who may take shots at us along this southern route.

What do you guys think?

Capra, do you have a map of this region? how is mine? is it close? :)
I hope to be able to post no later than Monday Evening.
Sooner would be better.
Let's do nick names for everyone instead of first or last names. Would you all be OK with this?

I have no problem with you all writing minor actions for my character. Military themed activities are a teamwork event. It is difficult to do that if everyone doesn't share in small amounts. I have seen many RPs like this fail because people acted like individuals. Fortunately this group has 3 of the 5 authors are veterans. I've always wanted to do an RP with vets. Here it is. Thank you, gentlemen.
Yes, my newest favorite quote.

I'm sure the Airbus A400 Atlas is much quieter than the C-130. I recall trying to have a conversation with someone on a C-130. It is almost impossible. You need to put your mouth against someone's ear and shout at them to hear you. Best thing you can do on a C-130 is sleep or read a book.
One more thing. I shared your monkey quote on the ramp to Noah's ark with my Krav Maga group. They love it! That is gold.
@cpldingo that was fucking outstanding, brother! Brought a tear to my eye. Having never been airborne in the spec ops community, I forgot about "Equipment Check".
Lt. Jovar is at Tactical.
Jovar stopped at Main Engineering before heading up to the Bridge. He found Lieutenant Haliv there. "Could you run a diagnostic check on the port side ventral phaser emitter?"Jovar asked, then stated, "It has been acting strange. I'll be on the bridge. Let me know what you find, thank you."

Jovar left engineering and headed for the turbo-lift. He stepped aboard with a Petty Officer who worked in Engineering. "Bridge," Lieutenant Jovar announced, then looked at the crewman. Their eyes met briefly, then Jovar looked away.

The doors opened with a swoosh and the Lieutenant strode onto the bridge to take his position at Tactical, behind the Commander's chair. The Engineering crewman took a seat at Engineering behind Lieutenant Jovar. Once in position, he checked his displays for weapon status, sensors and communications. Then he looked down at Commander Tylin. "Commander, the port side ventral phaser emitter has been acting strange. I have asked Lieutenant Haliv in Engineering to run a diagnostics check on it. All other systems are working within normal parameters."
@MiddleEarthRoze@POOHEAD189 Great job, guys. I liked your post.
Although, I am also very busy, I watch the thread every day. Things will lighten up mid October.
