If you are a fan of Warhammer 40,000 or Age of Sigmar, let me know. Maybe we can put together an RP. I play Ironjawz & Kruleboyz in AOS and Salamanders & Drukhari in 40K.

Bio

I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division "Yankee" and 29th Infantry Division (Light), "The Blue and the Gray". I was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 29th ID (L) in 2001 - 2002. I have also been reading military history articles and books since I was 10 years old. I do prefer Military Role Plays over all other genres, primarily because I have a vast knowledge of the subject including personal experiences. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.

I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about eighteen years ago. I do enjoy Nation Role Plays and get into minute detail when designing my military. The only reason I enjoy excruciating detail in my militaries is because for me, it is fun. My education and experience on this subject afford me the insight to see the depth of the structure. It is not just a General and a large pile of soldiers. If someone wants assistance in designing an army, navy, or air force, please send me a PM. I will help. Please specify what level (echelon) or depth you would like me to go. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.

When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts.

There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.

I have real-world martial arts experience. I would love to write an RP about hand-to-hand combat, no fantasy magic chit, just hands elbows, knees, and feet. Maybe the occasional head butt thrown in to mix things up. I trained in Krav Maga for six and a half years. I earned a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga on 3 June 2017.

Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. It is very brutal, demanding, and aggressive. During the seven years I trained, I have bruised two ribs, sustained several muscle pulls, and various lacerations and bruises over my body. I have received a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist. Before the first black belt test, I received a bone bruise to my right shin; where my roundhouse kicks impact. Yet, I am stupid enough to continue training. [Regardless of the physical pain, it is more fun than any other physical activity I have engaged in. Fortunately, the bone bruise healed up prior to the third and final test. EDIT: I did leave the sport over five years ago. :(]

Over two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.

Send me a PM for a Role Play or if you would like to see what sort of an army I could build for you.

For some reason, I do not recall seeing these first few posts. O_o
@Lady Selune I can appreciate your desire to keep the Characters tab neat and orderly, but not allowing folks to update their character on their own will create more burden upon you. I always treat my character sheets as dynamic documents; updating them as the RP evolves. Just now, before the RP begins I realize that the lower enlisted soldiers of the PAVN wore the Dark Green khaki uniforms rather than the tan uniform worn by the officers or the black PJs worn by the PLAF. Since, I can't copy the character into the tab on my own, I updated my character's original post in the OOC. Maybe you could post a link to the original post in your post?

This is my update:

Uniform: Nga wears the standard dark green Khaki uniform of the People’s Army of Vietnam (PAVN). He prefers to wear the sleeves folded to just below the elbows. He wears the standard dark green-colored phenolic sun-helmet with mesh covering and tennis shoe-jungle boot, a cheap construction. His load bearing equipment (LBE) consisted of a tan canvas belt with a square aluminum buckle. Upon the buckle is a star, Nga personally painted red. Upon this belt is his canteen pouch, grenade pouches (with strap to go over opposite shoulder) and spare magazine pouch. Nga’s canteen is olive drab in color, of aluminum construction, a Chinese copy of a Japanese canteen. Nga used his trench knife to scrape some paint away and etch his name into the side of it. To complete his LBE, Nga wore the NVA “chest pouch” which resembles a shop apron drawn over his head, ending at the canvas belt. This chest pouch has three ammunition pouches and three smaller pouches for boxed cartridges. He also carries a Czechoslovakian ammunition bag, strapped across his shoulder to carry an additional five magazines. Upon his back, he carries the standard issue rucksack with a central compartment and three external pockets, based off a French design. In his ammunition pouches he carries eight 30-round magazines & 4 hand grenades. He possesses a ninth magazine which is inserted in the magazine well of his rifle.
Upon more reading, it appears the dark green uniform is more frequently used by the enlisted soldiers while he tan uniform is used by the officers. I'm going to change mine to the dark green uniform. Suggest @Eisenhorn do the same for Quy Phan. I do like the character by the way. Phong Nga could be an assistant gunner, or ammunition bearer for Phan.
Oh, and just as a general thing, I found a pretty good guide on uniforms:

As a side note, my reference for the uniforms came from a Veteran and Historian. wingman.dier.us/articles/uniforms.htm
The black pajamas and guerrilla smocks were used by the PLAF (VC) and the tan or Dark Green uniforms I used for my character were used by PAVN (NVA) units.

That link you offer is from an air soft site.

I am working on a PAVN infantryman.
I am quite flexible. I can do either.
As a result of the Chinese Revolution and Harry Truman's frustration with Douglas MacArthur's handling of the Korean War, he fired MacArthur and anyone else associated with MacArthur. In a sense, he lost anyone who knew anything about the Far East. Eisenhower had no one available to him that knew anything about SouthEast Asia and those that were learning, weren't learning fast enough,

Ho Chi Minh asked Woodrow Wilson to help him remove the French from his country soon after the completion of The Great War. Woodrow Wilson would do nothing as France was one of America's strongest allies and they had just helped them get the Germans out of their country. Ho Chi Minh did not care if Vietnam was a Representative Democracy or a Communist state. His next stop was to Vladimir Lenin where he learned about the benefits of Socialism and Communism. Lenin and his successor Stalin agreed to help the fledgling Communist state eradicate its oppressive Western European masters.

The US bungling of the War in Vietnam as well as their Communist containment policy, vis-a-vis McCarthyism resulted from a lack of information. The US dehumanized the Soviets and built them as up as this dark evil the Americans all need to hate.
From the source I am currently reading on the history of the 37th Tank Battalion, they are in constant contact with the enemy from 17 to 28 July 1944. It is not intensive, but daily sightings and the occasional rounds being exchanged near the lead units in the column. But on the 28th, the Battalion experiences its real test during its attack on Coutances and then Avranches, at the northern edge of the neck of Brittany, which fell on the 30th.

This next post the battalion is still in preparations, but the next after this one, things will get warmer and then hotter when we get to the time period of 28 - 30 July.

I am also reading Sons of the Reich; II SS Panzer Corps by Michael Reynolds, MG (Ret.), British Army. MG Reynolds was a NATO Commander during his military career.

We arrived in France two days ago. We were stuck on that bloody ship too long if you ask me. I am so glad I never joined the Navy. I could not stand the constant rocking of the ship in the waves of the English Channel. I must have thrown up a dozen times.

We spent the rest of the day unloading our vehicles from the ship and moving the company to its staging area about five kilometers southwest of Utah Beach. Yes, we disembarked at Utah Beach on the Normandy coastline.

The Battalion S1, Captain Perkins informed the battalion staff and unit leaders last night that Brigadier General Theodore Roosevelt Jr. died of a heart attack on Wednesday, 12 July. What is truly amazing, is General Roosevelt was the highest ranking American officer to come ashore on D-Day. He survived that harrowing experience on the beaches, just so he could die of a heart attack not 20 kilometers from where we are sitting now. He was only 56 years old. My father and grandfather both had much respect for his father, the 26th President of the United States. I recall reading about his exploits in Cuba during the Spanish-American War. He was an awe inspiring leader. A young officer like myself could learn from him. This was another tragic loss to the nation and to the US Army.

During our S2 Intelligence briefing we were informed of a large concentration of German armor southwest of Caen along the Odon River, north of the Orne River. We were told the I SS Panzer Corps consisting of the 1st SS Panzer Division (Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler), 2nd SS Panzer Division (Das Reich) and the 12th SS Panzer Division (HitlerJugend) and the II SS Panzer Corps consisting of the 9th SS Panzer Division (Hohenstaufen) and the 10th SS Panzer Division (Frundsberg). We are told these are the elite troops of Germany’s vaunted Panzer formations using Panzer Mark IVs, Mark V (Panthers) and Mark VI (Tiger) tanks. All five of these divisions have experience fighting on the Eastern Front against the Russians. Next, it will be our turn.

Early reports tell us the M4 Sherman will light up like a Bronson lighter when struck by an Armor Piercing (AP) round fired from either of these tanks. British armored commanders say that the best way to attack the Panthers and Tigers is from the rear. It is a wasted shot to even try to hit one in the front, they have such thick steel armor. I sure hope the S3 has a plan for how we maneuver our tanks into the enemy’s rear. I am also told that our M18 Hellcats are the fastest tanks in Europe right now. We may need to test their speed against the German Panzers.

We shall be placed in Division Reserve for now, until they have a mission for us. This will give us plenty of time to get acclimated to our surroundings, drill on tank fighting tactics and insure our tanks are maintained properly.

The 4th Infantry Division is slowly being pulled out of the line and our 4th armor division is being put into action in the positions they are vacating.

16 July 1944
The operations order has been issued. The 1st platoon will be leading followed by the 2nd platoon and then the Assault Gun platoon. The armored infantry platoon will follow the 2nd platoon and I will travel with the 1st platoon. Colonel Abrams informed me that he will lead the 1st platoon, the tip of the 4th Armored Division as we roll into combat for our first time tomorrow morning. It will be an early rise and our tanks will be rolling before the sun comes up. I hope to make another entry into this journal tomorrow or soon after our first contact with the enemy.
