If you are a fan of Warhammer 40,000 or Age of Sigmar, let me know. Maybe we can put together an RP. I play Ironjawz & Kruleboyz in AOS and Salamanders & Drukhari in 40K.

Bio

I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division "Yankee" and 29th Infantry Division (Light), "The Blue and the Gray". I was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 29th ID (L) in 2001 - 2002. I have also been reading military history articles and books since I was 10 years old. I do prefer Military Role Plays over all other genres, primarily because I have a vast knowledge of the subject including personal experiences. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.

I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about eighteen years ago. I do enjoy Nation Role Plays and get into minute detail when designing my military. The only reason I enjoy excruciating detail in my militaries is because for me, it is fun. My education and experience on this subject afford me the insight to see the depth of the structure. It is not just a General and a large pile of soldiers. If someone wants assistance in designing an army, navy, or air force, please send me a PM. I will help. Please specify what level (echelon) or depth you would like me to go. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.

When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts.

There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.

I have real-world martial arts experience. I would love to write an RP about hand-to-hand combat, no fantasy magic chit, just hands elbows, knees, and feet. Maybe the occasional head butt thrown in to mix things up. I trained in Krav Maga for six and a half years. I earned a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga on 3 June 2017.

Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. It is very brutal, demanding, and aggressive. During the seven years I trained, I have bruised two ribs, sustained several muscle pulls, and various lacerations and bruises over my body. I have received a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist. Before the first black belt test, I received a bone bruise to my right shin; where my roundhouse kicks impact. Yet, I am stupid enough to continue training. [Regardless of the physical pain, it is more fun than any other physical activity I have engaged in. Fortunately, the bone bruise healed up prior to the third and final test. EDIT: I did leave the sport over five years ago. :(]

Over two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.

Send me a PM for a Role Play or if you would like to see what sort of an army I could build for you.

"Targus’ beautiful and complex architecture built tall by hands and machinery
now rests scattered as heaps of rubble. The range, trajectory, and explosive yield of bombs
dropped from above have reshaped the city into a no-man’s-land of ash and remains for soldiers
to fight over. Spilled blood and charred debris decorate the landscape.”

The Brigade Adjutant, Major Angelburt, son of Ragenaus told the twenty-eight year old Lieutenant they could expect only a few replacements. The supply of humans capable of fighting had either perished in this terrible war or had joined a hastily conjured Volunteer Regiment. There would be few new men to share this misery with.

That was six months ago.

Two days ago, Major Angelburt was found dead in his hooch. Someone slit his throat. Did the Centaurans send assassins behind enemy lines targeting Penchalan officers? Was it one of Brigadier Childebrand’s own men who committed this atrocity? Major Radbod, the Brigade Quartermaster did not know how it happened, and they shared living quarters in the Brigade Support Area (BSA).

Yesterday, the Operations Officer, Major Vigor finalized his plan, Operation SALIAN which would send CHILDEBRAND Brigade head long into a Battalion of Chasseurs or what the Panchalans referred to as Jaegers (Light Infantry). The enemy was at 75% strength and entrenched along what used to be an elevated interstate line leading north from the city. They undoubtedly had minefields sewn into the soil in front of them. The Brigade’s plan detailed a squadron of fighter bombers to drop Scatterable Munitions along the Chasseurs’ front with the intent to blow up the mines and provide the 25th Grenadier regiment with a corridor to penetrate behind the enemy lines.

The First battalion would penetrate along Terrary Strasse to the north, while the Second battalion had the mission of penetrating the center portion of the battalion. The general and his Jump TOC would accompany the 2nd Battalion on its mission. The Third battalion had a similar mission two kilometers south of the Second battalion. The 114th and 116th would follow the first and second battalions along their routes of advance and push on further east past the enemy Jaegers dug in.

Theuderic rode in the front seat of the armored car with his rifle hanging out the window. Gefreiter Dalfin raced forward with his foot pushing the aged vehicle as fast as he could get it to move. Theuderic could see the pride in his commander’s face as he looked up at the fighter bombers preparing to make their run on the enemy positions to their front.

Seeing his commander stand in the track commander’s hatch with confidence inspired him to know this would be a good day. He trained his eyes ahead to watch the rolling thunder hitting the ground in front and scanned the horizon for targets; waiting for the rapidly advancing vehicle to reach the enemy positions.

Hanging out at Walmart with my daughters, selling Girl Scout cookies. Great place to People Watch. :)
Took the kids skiing on Wednesday. I haven't been in 25 years. My legs were shaking terribly because of the exercise. It felt exhilerating.
I have one more issue to clear up before I can post. It is in regards to my character's position in the Regiment. I want to insure that the position, you think he is, is the one I think he has. First, let me define a few terms.

Adjutant: There was a time when I served in an infantry battalion as the battalion's "Adjutant". My official title, was the battalion personnel officer or the S1. Adjutant is an informal title used during formal ceremonies involving the use of a parade ground. The Adjutant or S1 is one of the five primary staff officers in a battalion, regiment, or brigade. The position exists at division, corps and army too, but he is referred to as a G1 in the higher echelons. At that level, the term "General Staff" is used instead of Staff, hence the letter G replacing the letter, S. At battalion level, the Adjutant is a Captain. At Regiment and brigade, the Adjutant is a major. If you intend on my character being an Adjutant, he would be a major.

Aide-de-Camp: An Aide-de-Camp is an assistant to a General Officer. Colonels and below do not get the luxury of an Aide-de-Camp. The position is similar to a bat boy in the British Army, but so much more. He is more than just the general's valet. He manages his schedule and runs errands for him too. He also serves as a body guard when needed. A Brigadier (General) would be allowed a 2nd Lieutenant or 1st Lieutenant. A Major General would be allowed a Captain and a Lieutenant General or higher would be authorized a Major. As a Colonel, commanding a regiment, your character would not be authorized an Aide-de-Camp. Since he is a Colonel commanding a regiment and you keep using the term, "Adjutant" I believe you mean the regimental S1, who is a Major. But I have another option listed below.

Operations Officer: The Operations Officer or S3 is one of the five primary staff officers. At battalion, Regiment and Brigade, the S3 is a Major. At Division and higher, the G3 is a Lieutenant Colonel. The only reason I mention the operations officer, is because during combat operations, the Commander moves with his operations officer. In the infantry we refer to their group as the Jump TOC. TOC = Tactical Operations Center. The Jump TOC contains the Commander, S3, two vehicle drivers, the assistant Intelligence Officer (subordinate to the S2 Intelligence Officer) or Regimental Intelligence Collection Coordinator (RICC) and the Fire Support Officer (FSO) who would be a Major or LTC. The RICC would be a 1LT or CPT. The S2, who is in the Main Command Post is also a Major and primary staff officer. Since the Regimental Commander travels with his operations officer, wouldn't it make sense that they would have formed a bond as well? Usually the Commander and S3 are very close. If everything went to shit, these two would be together. The Adjutant, S1 is way in the rear with the battalion supply officer, S4 (another primary staff officer), coordinating Administrative and Logistics operations to keep the unit supplied with materials and personnel.

So, far you have mentioned the 25th Grenadier Regiment and some other hastily-raised conscript regiments. I recommend you promote Childebrand to Brigadier General and give him command of a Brigade. Your Brigade will consist of the following units:
25th (Royal Panchala) Grenadier Regiment (60% strength or 2,250 men + vehicles to move the Regiment)
114th Panchala Volunteer Infantry Regiment (755 men)
116th Panchala Volunteer Infantry Regiment (976 men)
76th Anti-Armor Battalion (36 AT guns /w transports)
357th Transport Battalion (vehicles to move the 114th PVIR)
358th Transport Battalion (vehicles to move the 116th PVIR)

If Childebrand were the Brigade Commander, Theuderic, son of Childeric would be either a Major as the Brigade's Adjutant or a Lieutenant as the General's Aide-de-Camp or the regiment's operations officer. If you want Childebrand to remain a Colonel commanding the Regiment, then Theuderic could not be an Aide-de-Camp (LT), but preferably the Regiment's Operations Officer (Major) rather than the regiment's Adjutant, S1 (Major) who would have been more than 15 kilometers behind the Regimental Commander and his Jump TOC when things went to shit.

Does this make sense to you?
Posted in quotes our discord discussions straight copy-pasted. If you wish I can write up some more elaborate lore. Moved the characters to Characters.

Sorry for lack of decorum!

I planned to use your ideas to help in the creation of my character. Knowing his name is just the first step. I like to go a lot deeper and then I use that information when writing the story. It helps me to understand the setting better. I don't know if I can do that properly with the conversation quoted above like it is.
You can post your character in the Characters tab. That starting OOC post should have all the notes about the thread you tried to share with me the other night while I was falling asleep trying to keep up.
You can use this OOC tab to write a lot of those notes you were trying to tell me on discord. I will not return to that conversation to try to find what you were saying. It will be a waste of time and I guarantee I will not find it there. Let's keep everything here so we know where it is. If we have a discord Private Message (PM) conversation and a forum PM conversation going on, I will not be able to track it. I know discord is great for real time communications, but I do not get that luxury often. When it happens, I usually have others in real life trying to get my time. It is much easier for you to leave stuff here and for me to look at it when I have time instead of searching three different places for it.

All my characters portray me in one way or another and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Most of my characters are veterans, as am I. But I do change up their personalities from time to time. They are not all mirror images of me.
