If you are a fan of Warhammer 40,000 or Age of Sigmar, let me know. Maybe we can put together an RP. I play Ironjawz & Kruleboyz in AOS and Salamanders & Drukhari in 40K.

Bio
I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division "Yankee" and 29th Infantry Division (Light), "The Blue and the Gray". I was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 29th ID (L) in 2001 - 2002. I have also been reading military history articles and books since I was 10 years old. I do prefer Military Role Plays over all other genres, primarily because I have a vast knowledge of the subject including personal experiences. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.
I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about eighteen years ago. I do enjoy Nation Role Plays and get into minute detail when designing my military. The only reason I enjoy excruciating detail in my militaries is because for me, it is fun. My education and experience on this subject afford me the insight to see the depth of the structure. It is not just a General and a large pile of soldiers. If someone wants assistance in designing an army, navy, or air force, please send me a PM. I will help. Please specify what level (echelon) or depth you would like me to go. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.
When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts.
There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.
I have real-world martial arts experience. I would love to write an RP about hand-to-hand combat, no fantasy magic chit, just hands elbows, knees, and feet. Maybe the occasional head butt thrown in to mix things up. I trained in Krav Maga for six and a half years. I earned a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga on 3 June 2017.
Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. It is very brutal, demanding, and aggressive. During the seven years I trained, I have bruised two ribs, sustained several muscle pulls, and various lacerations and bruises over my body. I have received a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist. Before the first black belt test, I received a bone bruise to my right shin; where my roundhouse kicks impact. Yet, I am stupid enough to continue training. [Regardless of the physical pain, it is more fun than any other physical activity I have engaged in. Fortunately, the bone bruise healed up prior to the third and final test. EDIT: I did leave the sport over five years ago. :(]
Over two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.
Send me a PM for a Role Play or if you would like to see what sort of an army I could build for you.

History
What Brings You To Role Player Guild: There is a large community of writers here. I enjoy the hobby even though I rarely get time to participate. Currently, I try to limit my stories to one at a time. Unfortunately, I rarely find one I enjoy and others are willing to write in. When I do, they die way too early. Life Before You Came To Role Player Guild: It was very different. I don’t know how to explain it in just a few words or sentences. Life Since You Came To Role Player Guild: This is just a side hobby. I have many irons in the fire and this is just one of them. It has taken a back seat to my real life activities.

Quotes or Sayings: “Those who fail to learn the lessons of the past are doomed to repeat them.” – Winston Churchill paraphrasing George Santayana. “If you’re going to fight, fight like the third monkey on the ramp to Noah’s ark and brother…It’s starting to rain.” Theme Song: Warrior’s Call Advice To The World: Forgive the actions of those who came before us. Behaviors we consider heinous crimes today were generally accepted practices many years ago. Anything Else:
I think we should all start out as Leutnants, each in command of a company or smth.
/facepalms then kicks the cat. You know that statement makes me grimace, right?
OK, in light of the fact that there are 149 company grade slots in the regiment, I will do some dice rolls to determine how many people of each rank from Leutnant to Major are available to fill vacancies. I would prefer that we are all platoon Commanders, to be honest. The thought of brand new butter bars with no experience holding company command positions go against everything I hold dear in this world.
Majors: Authorized: 12 On Hand: 11 Hauptmans: Authorized: 43 On Hand: 39 Oberleutnants: Authorized: 67 On Hand: 46 Leutnants: Authorized: 39 On Hand: 30
I used a 75% fill rate for Majors and Hauptmans. We ended up with 92% of Majors and 90% for Hauptmans. I accidentally used a 75% fill rate for Oberleutnants, intending to set it at 90%. We ended up with 69% only because I rolled it four times and kept rolling low. I used a 90% fill rate for Leutnants and ended up with 77%.
These are starting Officer shortages: Majors: 1 (This will be disregarded as a Hauptman will fill this slot and he will eventually be promoted.) Hauptmans: 4 5 (These five shortages will be filled by Oberleutnants who will eventually be promoted.) Oberleutnants: 21 26 (These shortages will be filled by Leutnants who will eventually be promted.) Leutnants: 9 35 (These are the real officer shortages for the Regiment.)
Since there are a total of 46 Platoons in the Regiment, and only 12 platoons will have an Oberleutnant commanding them, there are now 34 platoons commanded by a Leutnant.
We could have two characters in the same platoon as commander and assistant commander or we may have a Leutnant character alone in a platoon with just his Platoon sergeant for advice. but as you know Political appointments might elevate someone to Company Command if you desire. /Ouch! I can't believe I just wrote that. /aargh.
No. 3 MG Company Company Commander - Hauptman (Captain Executive Officer - Oberleutnant (1LT) No. 1 Platoon Commander - Oberleutnant (1LT) or Leutnant (2LT) No. 2 Platoon Commander - Oberleutnant (1LT) or Leutnant (2LT)
Quantity of ranks available in the Regiment Oberst (Colonel): 1 Oberstleutnant (Lieutenant Colonel): 6 Major: 12 Hauptman (Captain): 43 Oberleutnant (1LT): 67 Leutnant (2LT): 39 I wrote the US equivalent in parenthesis for comparison purpose only.
These are Authorized ranks. If the regiment has 106 Leutnants and no Oberleutnants, then a Leutnant gets a position authorized for an Oberleutnant. You could have two Leutnants in the same platoon based on this premise.
A Leutnant can hold an Oberleutnant’s position if a slot authorized for an Oberleutnant is vacant. This is a great way to be promoted. The same thing is true for Oberleutnants taking Hauptman’s positions, Hauptmans taking Major’s positions, Majors taking Oberstleutnant’s positions and an Oberstleutnant taking the Oberst’s position. During Operation Market Garden an SS Leiutenant Colonel commanded a SS Panzer Division because it was so badly mauled over prior to September, 1944.
The East Prussian Grenadier Regiment was organized into three Grenadier Battalions. Each Grenadier Battalion consisted of four Grenadier Companies and one Heavy Machine Gun Company. The Grenadier and HMG Companies each consisted of three platoons. The Grenadier Platoon consisted of three sections (squads) and the HMG platoon consisted of two Heavy Machine Gun sections.

Reorganization of the German Army, 1914 - 1918 Also, my personal experience with military history, consisting of bits I have picked up over a lifetime of reading this material.
Note: I know the reference states 240 rifles per company, but I was aiming for an organization that fit for our purpose. It is neat and clean with a nice round number; 3,000.
Trevor learned a very long time ago, that it is best to get sleep whenever the opportunity arose. He slept on transport aircraft including that noisy C-130. Of course, you had to wear earplugs, but the drone of the engine aided in putting a man to sleep. The private aircraft the Ares crew flew in from Geneva to Algeria was much quieter than a C-130, but that droning sound was still effective.
Due to his experience with both the French and Arabic languages, Trevor was chosen to help buy equipment for the operation. Along with Hades and Hypnos, the trio located some inexpensive drones in a department store in Algiers. They were the type used by American teens for amusement or roofing contractors to view client’s rooves in order to get an impression of the work they were about to perform. Not extremely high-tech equipment but it would perform the mission monsieur Bakker intended for them.
The efforts to throw off any tails they may have picked up were necessary. He felt confident in the group for doing this. At least the leadership used a sensible plan. When they arrived at the garage, Trevor changed his clothing into the Algerian uniform. He loaded the two 30-round magazines. He placed one magazine in the AKM’s well and the other in a uniform pocket. He had brought along a black wool watch cap to wear under the helmet and at night when it got cold. This wasn’t his first tour of North Africa. He was familiar with the cool temps of night. The wool watch cap was key to making the trek bearable.
He rested some more as the others did and awoke at the set time with everyone else. He slung the Kalashnikov over his left shoulder, so it hung under his right arm. He holstered the Caracel into its holster and tucked the spare mag into an ammo pouch on his belt. Tucking the AKM behind him, he climbed into the back of the second vehicle ready for their trek through the desert.
When questioned about which direction they should go, he felt they should check out the villages around the Ahaggar National Park. It was actionable intelligence in the eyes of the Legion. These bedouins were never a threat to them, then, but they are now. It was at least worth checking out. If asked, Hector would reiterate his suggesting regarding the villages near the national park.
He kept his eye on the rear, through the back windows, just to see if he could track movement of anyone following them. Who knows, maybe the people they are trying to find were just as curious about them as they were about the two vehicles.
Günther Hans Ferdinand von Richter Born in Posen, Provinz Posen, Das Königreich Preußen 30 October 1882
Günther Hans Ferdinand von Richter, also known as Hans Günther von Richter was the eldest son to Max von Richter, from an aristocratic Prussian military family. A distinguished commander, Max was a lieutenant general in the Prussian Army. He married Elise Kühn-Schuhmann in 1881. Richter was one of two children, having a younger brother named Wolfgang (born 1892).
Max von Richter held a high standing in social circles in Königsburg and Berlin. His sons were accepted into these circles mingling with the other Prussian aristocracy. Günther or informally known as “Hans” enjoyed playing Rugby. He and the other boys of his age group frequently engaged in pick up games. They attended social outings mingling with the young Prussian ladies of his age. “Hans” enjoyed the ladies and they enjoyed his attention.
“Hans” had something of an easy life with his vater being a professional officer in the Prussian Army. It had its perks, but he always seemed to get tangled up in the downside. When he got into trouble with his friends, he got into trouble with his vater and that brought about stern disciplinary actions. Often times the discipline involved physical exercise; walking, push-ups, running or leg lifts. But it could also bring about him doing research papers for his vater or in some cases even lashes to his back if he was really bad. Hans had a reputation as a bad boy. He was not proud of the scars on his back.
I get migraines on average about once every two years. They start with flashing lights in my eyes. It gradually gets larger diminishing my vision and then obliterating all ability to see. I must find a dark room to hide out in. I do not have a headache per se, but a sense of nausea slowly overwhelms me. Two to three hours after the beginning of the migraine, I will vomit. But during that two to three hours, I will have body aches, chills and a mild headache. But the nausea is intense. The vomiting is actually the best part. Once I vomit, all the other symptoms go away. I feel 90% better. I am left with a feeling of a hangover for the next 24 hours. I am glad I don't get this type of migraine twice a month. My son gets them twice a month, but for him it is just a bad headache and lasts about six hours.
When I was young, I played a thief or an assassin. Then AD&D changed the character class to Rogue. Even when I played WoW, I chose the Rogue class. This makes sense...

--Gunther (AKA: Old School)

Gunther [+]

Character Summary

Name: Gunther
Aliases: Landain
Age: old (I was around when George Washington was a Lieutenant)
Birthday: August 12
Ethnicity: French, English, & Seneca (Iroquois Confederation)
Location: New England
Gender: Male
Higher Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science & Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice
Occupation: Substitute School Teacher
Languages: English, Spanish, German & a little French
Years RPing: 18
Preferred RP Section: Advanced or Casual
RP Level: Advanced
Dedication Level: Moderate
Biggest RP Pet Peeve: People who do not communicate with the group and drop. He attends Catholic mass with his family regularly and attempts a life free from sin. He can be a very moody person swinging from very warm, friendly, and extroverted to quiet and secluded. He hates winter; January and February make him very depressed. Gunther loves his children and would do anything for them and his wife.

Gunther is a morning person, but that comes from a life of serving in the military. He would rather go to bed early and get up early; prefers to exercise in the morning over working out just before bed. His chief flaw is saying what pops into his head unrestrained without thinking it over before letting fateful words spill out, full-fledged Gryffindor.

Habits: Smiling, unprovoked singing, talking with strangers & Coca-Cola
Hobbies: Krav Maga, Running, Movies, reading, writing, Military History & Playing games with his children.
Most recent hobby: Warhammer Age of Sigmar and 40,000.
