If you are a fan of Warhammer 40,000 or Age of Sigmar, let me know. Maybe we can put together an RP. I play Ironjawz & Kruleboyz in AOS and Salamanders & Drukhari in 40K.

Bio

I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division "Yankee" and 29th Infantry Division (Light), "The Blue and the Gray". I was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 29th ID (L) in 2001 - 2002. I have also been reading military history articles and books since I was 10 years old. I do prefer Military Role Plays over all other genres, primarily because I have a vast knowledge of the subject including personal experiences. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.

I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about eighteen years ago. I do enjoy Nation Role Plays and get into minute detail when designing my military. The only reason I enjoy excruciating detail in my militaries is because for me, it is fun. My education and experience on this subject afford me the insight to see the depth of the structure. It is not just a General and a large pile of soldiers. If someone wants assistance in designing an army, navy, or air force, please send me a PM. I will help. Please specify what level (echelon) or depth you would like me to go. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.

When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts.

There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.

I have real-world martial arts experience. I would love to write an RP about hand-to-hand combat, no fantasy magic chit, just hands elbows, knees, and feet. Maybe the occasional head butt thrown in to mix things up. I trained in Krav Maga for six and a half years. I earned a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga on 3 June 2017.

Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. It is very brutal, demanding, and aggressive. During the seven years I trained, I have bruised two ribs, sustained several muscle pulls, and various lacerations and bruises over my body. I have received a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist. Before the first black belt test, I received a bone bruise to my right shin; where my roundhouse kicks impact. Yet, I am stupid enough to continue training. [Regardless of the physical pain, it is more fun than any other physical activity I have engaged in. Fortunately, the bone bruise healed up prior to the third and final test. EDIT: I did leave the sport over five years ago. :(]

Over two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.

Send me a PM for a Role Play or if you would like to see what sort of an army I could build for you.

btw, how long does it usually take for one without military background to get qualified as a special force operator and assigned for missions in such nature? Maybe also what's the youngest age ever had such degree of qualification?

yea, I'm asking about the non-classified ones, of course :D

I can only speak for the US Army. In order to enter the Special Forces, you must already be at the rank of Sergeant (E5). Depending on your Military Occupational Specialty (MOS), this could be anywhere from 3-6 years. Once you are an E5, you attend the Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQ) at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center (JFK-SWC) at Ft. Bragg, NC. Depending on which MOS you choose, your training will take 56 - 95 weeks before you are qualified in SF. Take a read of this.

If you wanted to go through Ranger School, you can enlist as an 11B Infantryman at Ft. Benning, GA. 11B course is 14 Weeks long. Once you graduate from Basic Combat Training and Infantry School, you then go to Airborne School. For enlisted soldiers this is 4 weeks (0 Week, Ground Week, Tower Week and Jump Week). Once you qualify as a parachutist, you would then attend Ranger school which is roughly 9 weeks long. There are four phases; Camp Darby, Dahlonega, GA (Mountain); Ft. Bliss or Ft. Hood, TX (Desert) and Eglin AFB, FL (Jungle). Graduate from Ranger and get sent to one of the three Ranger Battalions. From the time you enter the Army to the time you are qualified as an Airborne Ranger is about 30 weeks if you add in the time spent waiting around for training to begin.

Rangers are the masters of patrolling
SF serves two missions: Direct action (combat raids and surveillance) and training Host nation troops or rebel troops of a nation the US has good relations with or poor relations with.
Not really too worried- but I do want to move things along into the first op after the first few back-and forths in the rec room (keeping maybe to one or two scenes of what you guys have just discussed may be wise). With any PVE I'll sort out balancing, but safe to say, I will throw plenty of curveballs into the mix- you guys between yourselves can manage yourselves, play fair :)

We don't have to take time for a sparring match or training session. You set the pace. If you have a job for us, let's rock it!
Always a fresh pot of coffee on.
There are leftovers in cold storage; Chili, Beef Stew, cookies, apple pie and peach cobbler.
How do you think the narrative structure gonna work for that? I mean, our characters will move in sequence based on the response of the opposing party. Su-Cheong might gonna jab and hook in three parts at once, followed by a knee strike, then a throw and maybe a submission, but that won't work if in mid-combo, her opponent manages to counter or evade.

There are two ways to set up the structure. The first way, traditional writing method, opponent 1 throws a punch or a kick. opponent 2 defends the thrown punch and decides whether it lands or not. This method relies on honesty and integrity on the participants. The second way, gaming method, both writers agree on a method of determining advantages in rolling dice. I prefer to use the FATE dice systems simply because most of the outcomes are near average. Only during extreme (lucky/unlucky) situations do the dice favor or unfavor the person rolling the dice. Both writers designate certain abilities with Die Roll Modifiers (DRMs) to weight certain abilities.
Take a look at my gaming rules in this post here. The combat rules are just over halfway down the post.

My Creative Writing teacher in High School used to tell us to write about what you know. When I was 17, I thought to myself, 'I don't know anything that I want to write about.' So, I wrote up a list of things I want to do in order to acquire experiences I could someday write about.

Goals Accomplished
- spent 21 years in the US Army / Army National Guard retiring as an infantry officer.
- worked as a Police Officer for 12 years.
- earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science / AS in Criminal Justice.
- earned a black belt in Krav Maga. I was planning to go for 2nd Degree but was injured just before the
train up. I dropped out and then the Pandemic hit.

So here I am writing about chit I know something about. ;)

<insert funny .gif here.>

If anyone would like to collaborate on a post, I am game. We could spar or conduct training or just have conversation. IRL, I have a black belt in Krav Maga. I probably own a dozen Krav T-shirts.

@John F Kennedy Prudence looks good as is. Please post her in the character tab.

Mazi Zamiyr

Awake without an alarm clock. It was a curse, she could never sleep in. First stop, the lavatory, then she pulled on running shorts and a tank top. After tying up her running shoes, she secured her room key and headed for the exit.

The sun was just peeking over the eastern horizon. Her new home was not too far from her old home. Mazi took comfort in this. She loved the Mediterranean and grew up bathing in its warm refreshing waters. She knew she was just over 2400 Kilometers from home, but she never concerned herself with being away from home. She didn’t miss it too much, loved her parents, and knew she would see them again when returning to Haifa. But for now, she was enjoying the climate of Corsica. ‘Such a beautiful island paradise,’ she thought to herself as she started running.

By the time she hit her fifth kilometer, she was warm, proceeding to pick up the pace. The trail had some relief to it but not overly challenging. She continued to push herself, bringing her back to Raven Squad’s home base after an hour of running, she had covered sixteen kilometers and was ready for a shower.

Upon entering the complex, she first drank a bottle of water to replace fluids lost during the run. Then she replaced her running shoes and socks for flip flops. Grabbing a change of clothing and towel she headed to the shower room.

Once cleaned up, she dressed in a pair of gray cotton sweatpants and a blue T-shirt with the letters IDF and Krav Maga emblazoned across the chest in white letters. Next, she worked on her hair. She dried it as best she could. While damp, she tied it into a French braid down the center of her head then tied off at the back.

The kitchen was empty when she arrived. Her menu consisted of mostly proteins in an attempt to bulk up in the gym. She put together a meal consisting of fried eggs, turkey sausage and Canadian bacon along with a glass of milk and her necessary supplements. She cleaned up her dishes, then headed to the gym. Not wanting to revisit her meal she took it easy at first. Today, her focus was on her back muscles; latissimus dorsi, levator scapulae & rhomboids and biceps. She took the sets slowly, performing at least three exercises per muscle group using a high weight and low rep system.

Once her workout was complete, she returned to her room, removed her clothing and put on a robe. Then she made her way to the roof to find her usual reclining lawn chair. Once in place, she pulled off her robe, placed it on the head of the chair and laid down with her face on the robe attempting to improve on the color of her skin. No tan lines allowed here.

Later in the day, it appeared the squad was gathering in the rec room. After her tanning session on the roof, Mazi put on a red Krav Maga T-shirt, sports bra and a pair of black yoga pants. Her flip flops would suffice as she made her way to the rec room. Apparently, she missed Skye’s cultural music display on the violin. She knew there would be more opportunities to hear her play. It was comforting to listen to.

She hoped she wasn’t too late. Aside from Skye, she noticed Ban, Oliver, Kim, Laura, Tylar and Howard were already there. “Pardon, if I am late,” Mazi sheepishly stated as she quickly took a seat near Kim Su-Cheong.
