X'D I have updated the OP with an explanation of why the Xim are not actually imperialist, because this is the third time someone has made that misconception.

They are very isolationist and non-aggressive. The war with humanity was because of other reasons.

I realize that the reason some people think the Xim are "evil" is because of the intro, but you should remember that the intro was written from a human perspective- it is biased and portrays them as way worse than they really are.

Kazzlehorf is unique.

Kazzlehorf don't give a fuck about the other species (other than as pets to molest) like your species does.

Kazzlehorf is way smarter than Xim. Xim is species of idiot imperialists who keep thinking Kazzlehorf have flaws. No, Kazzlehorf is perfect. Nothing is better than Kazzlehorf.

The Xim aren't imperialist. The only enemy they have is humanity. Other than that, they don't ever expand into or attack other nations. They are actually very peaceful and non-expansionalist.

I shall be Kazzlehorf.

All members of my species will be Kazzlehorf. All other individuals from what society existed before are dead with only Kazzlehorf left as the last remaining members of its species alive.

For they will all be clones of each other in massive factory complexes where more Kazzlehorf are made.

Once there was others besides the first Kazzlehorf. They are dead.

The purest being in the universe, Kazzlehorf is the last member of its species.

Kazzlehorf's pureness is easy to explain. The only genetic code allowed with Kazzlehorf's Realm is the DNA of Kazzlehorf. No others are allowed.

For all the obsession with absolute conformity however, some Kazzlehorfs insist they are not Kazzlehorf. Those Kazzlehorf are mentally ill. Ignore them please.

Kazzlehorf's Realm is mostly kept running with machines and Kazzlehorfs who have followed a different dream job Kazzlehorf wanted to do but never could. The Kazzlehorfs live a very 'utopian' (the sort of utopia where robots wipe your ass) and extremely opulent life. Kazzlehorfs seek new pleasures all the time and have gone on missions to other factions to get new things for Kazzlehorf to play with, be it other species as pets for Kazzlehorf (who of course have to be neutered, don't want them making non-Kazzlehorfs) or weapons to defend Kazzlehorf from diluters and imperialists.

Kazzlehorf isn't that expansionist, more they don't want others bothering Kazzlehorf and the space fleet with Kazzlehorf as commander in all the ships is more built for defense than conquering other societies. Kazzlehorf has patience, they'll all kill each other soon enough. Than Kazzlehorf gets to have the whole galaxy when everyone else is dead. Just like what happened in pre-Kazzlehorf times with its species.

(Yes I know this means a pretty massive genetic bottleneck that no doubt will screw Kazzlehorf in its putrid orifices in due time, but Kazzlehorf is convinced that the problem can be solved by making more Kazzlehorf or through quarantine. Medical tech also helps. Kazzlehorf pretty much does everything it can to suppress 'deviant genetics' so that all shall be Kazzlehorf.)

I'll make a sheet this week if the idea fits. The cloning is based around artificial wombs of Kazzlehorf's mother, not replicators.

My race, the Xim, also clone.

They also have an obsession with the purity of their own genes, believe that genetic engineering is the way to utopia, and so on. We have very similar races.

@HaelI'm slightly interested, but more in the explorer area. Would it be possible to have an explorer from a relatively isolate/small empire (since I don't want to be caught up in too much the political side of things) or be an explorer from someone else's empire?

Someone is already doing this exact thing. They didn't want an empire, so they're just playing as a small fleet of Explorers. It is @Shorticus.

So, I suppose, you could be another member of his small, non-nation fleet.

OR you could create your own.

I really didn't plan on having people who weren't nations, but if that's what you want, so be it

@Hael Hmm, would these Xim Exiles consider residing in Federation Space? Although those Xim would be have living spaces "specially" made for them :P

I mean, some might, but I can't imagine very many would. They have had decades upon decades of tension between them and the Federation. They would not feel very at home amongst humans, even if they didn't share the typical Xim viewpoint that humans are imperfect, flawed creatures.

It's interesting, and accepted. It reminds me of a Confederacy- each state is basically on their own in everything but name and occasional military support.

A lot of Xim leave the Initiative due to the lack of free will inherit in their government (as my CS will show). I imagine a good number of them will be in your nation.
