And back I am. Exhausted, certainly, and may need a while for that to wear off, but I'm once more here to read and even write!

Should have been writing posts. Took part in D&D shenaniganry instead. Got to fix that tomorrow.

There's a lot of backlog here on my end. I'm trying my best to lessen it, but replies might be less frequent for a time. A welcome change from the nothing doing I went through though! Thanks partners!

Bio

I suppose it is about time for me to copypaste fill in some information about myself over here just as well. Only took me a few years to getting around to do it.

I am a married individual in my twenties from the country some people dare claim does not exist. The Finland conspiracy is an old joke, you can stop with it now. Not a native speaker of the English language by any means, though I did begin studying it exceptionally early for our country's standards. I suppose it was some sort of a test case. With that out of the way though, what more should I be saying here...
  • I like being nice to people. If one needs to ask why, well that alone is reason enough.
  • I play and Dungeon Master Dungeons and Dragons, both offline and in the past also over here.
  • I enjoy OOC chatter, be it planning the RP or a more casual exchange (not that RP'ing is that serious). I can make do without, but don't be afraid to talk to me.
  • Whatever the case, I'm here to have fun and hone my writing abilities!
I do think that should about cover it, yes.

Thanks for stopping by I suppose! I do also have a Discord account, but I prefer to start anything RP related on the site. At least with people I don't know from the past, that is! But hey, now if you are a longer time contact of mine and happened to read this, now you know and can ask!

I have received a question about character images and I came to the conclusion it could be good if everyone had easy access to pictures of other party members if they'd like. My idea on how to solve this is to post an image or two under the Characters tab of this roleplay. Not at all mandatory, but if you want to do so, feel free to. The top post will still stay a reference material archive, into which I added a short summary of the Aasimar race as we have one by the way.
@VKAllen Now your total exceeds the 27 point buy limit by one point if I am counting this correctly.

STR - 8 for 0
DEX - 13+2 for 5
CON - 14 for 7
INT - 10 for 2 (Suggested change: 9 for 1)
WIS - 14+1 for 7
CHA - 14 for 7
Resulting in a grand total of 28 points. If I may suggest an easy way out, as you seem to be looking for low-ish intelligence, if you drop it to 9 your point buy total will become 27 and thus legal.

Oh, and as goblinoids are a subrace of humanoids, you may choose another humanoid subrace as a Favoured Enemy. You may learn one language from the two of them, which you already have, so you cannot learn one from the other. You'll still get the other bonuses, or that's at least what I'm reading from this.
@VKAllen As far as I can see, you are missing out on stats. You current array comes across as follows:

STR - 8 for 0
DEX - 13+2 for 5
CON - 14 for 7
INT - 8 for 0
WIS - 14+1 for 7
CHA - 12 for 4
Resulting in a grand total of 23 points spent, leaving you with 4 extra. Also, what might be your favoured enemy?
Let's take a look here, shall we?

@Lucius Cypher I have always thought of the staff you receive from your background as more of a walking stick/poking implement rather than a weapon (quarterstaff). Would make sense for a Half-Orc to have one a bit sturdier one though. We can say it's a quarterstaff. The longsword being called a machete is fine with me.

@VitaVitaAR You can remove skill proficiencies from your Languages and Proficiencies tab, as those are marked with the checkboxes above. As for the fluffing of the chain mail... while I don't personally think of it as silly looking, I can see that it could bother someone. You have to realize that a plate-armour on the level of chain mail is some really bad plate though. If it leaves the big arteries on her legs visible though (like in the images) it might well be 2 AC worse. The arms don't appear to have the greatest plating either, so we can work with this I'd say. Not to mention the lack of a helmet :P Sure, have it be inferior plate mail.

Haven't seen any problems with characters thus far. We are still waiting for one of the people from the Interest Check and for VKAllen to show me their character, but I'd say we are making good progress in getting this thing running.

Character reference material

Once I have approved any Unearthed Arcana options, I will be adding their material here as well.
Although we no longer have an Aasimar in our group, I'll keep this here because why not?
@VKAllen@VitaVitaAR@The Harbinger of Ferocity@Rin@Lucius Cypher
I was wrong, I got it up today. Had some extra time on my hands and thought why not, so here you people go: http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/126885-d-d-5e-hoard-of-the-dragon-queen/ooc
We are open for playing!

The caravan had been on the road several days by now and the chatter of the people on stops had drifted more and more towards the next stop, Greenest. While smaller and probably much less profitable a stop when compared to something akin to Scornubel or Baldur's Gate, it still would provide them with much needed shelter if nothing else. The leader of the caravan, a human and a travelling cook that was called Addio especially looked forward to replenishing his supplies.

However, something was off. The evening sun was setting behind them, giving the sky a warm red tint, but that did little to explain the distinctively orange hue in the sky before them, these two sides divided by a small strip of dark night sky. As the caravan crept closer, they could see what was going on. The town was on fire with several columns of smoke slowly rising to the skies. To top it off, a dragon was circling above.

The caravan did not stop there, but approached just a little more before taking up the usual nighttime stop positions, with the wagons forming a circle and people gathering in the middle. "Travellers!" Addio addressed the caravan. "While the situation up there is significantly worse than expected, we cannot get any closer than this. If anyone wants to risk it and help the people, do that! I'll also need some help guarding the caravan in case they become interested in us... But I'll manage with the people I have on payroll. Any freelancers and such, go help the poor folk!" With that, the cook ran to his wagon to fetch his heavy crossbow to arm himself with, leaving the rest of the folk murmuring among themselves...
Here we are with the actual thread for this RP. While I am surprised to see how quickly it gathered interest, it is but a good thing! Now then, on to business!

We are full! You are free to keep an eye out on the game in case of anyone wanting to drop out, but as of now we are taking no applications.

Now that the game is online, these are the current "rules" we have set up:
  • Players should be ready to post at least once per four days, three if in combat. This is to keep the game rolling smoothly, and the occasional "hey I have this thing to do" request can and will grant you extra time. In general, passing that limit will have me nudge your character gently in the direction of the rest of the party, or act naturally in combat.
  • For leveling up, we are using the milestone rule, gaining levels once important points in the story are passed.
  • If you think your post could call for a roll to be made, do add said roll in a hider at the end of your post. This site has a perfectly usable Dice feature for that, so no outside services are needed! In combat, you can roll the attack and damage rolls back to back and I'll apply the damage if you hit.
The question of creative liberty has surfaced and the answer to this question is to PM me! We should be able to come to a decision both of us are happy with, assuming your initial suggestion makes sense (aka no playing as Beholders, Mind Flayers, etc. nor fishing for insane gameplay bonuses). I'm all in the favour of flavour!

Don't expect much input in the next twelve hours or so. I have things to do, including sleeping :P
Next entry from me is probably the link for the OOC thread!
@Lucius Cypher@The Harbinger of Ferocity@Rin@VKAllen
Am I glad to see that my game has gathered interest! I've already reached the amount of players I was looking for, so I guess I'll be putting up the OOC soon-ish. Probably not today, as I've got places to be, but expect it to pop up tomorrow.

As for the questions I was asked, I am more than willing to help people with any problems they have with acquainting themselves with the D&D ruleset, so feel free to join! Harbinger has been quite helpful as well from what I've seen, so you should have no trouble if you are willing to learn!

Then comes the question of how much of the available content we would be using... I am going to be bold and say most of it! The Elemental Evil content is fine as is, but I personally lack the Sword Coast Adventure Guide and thus cannot say anything about it. Unearthed Arcana is mostly all good, just throw your idea at me first so I can take a look at the source and determine if I think it'll be good for this game!
