And back I am. Exhausted, certainly, and may need a while for that to wear off, but I'm once more here to read and even write!

Should have been writing posts. Took part in D&D shenaniganry instead. Got to fix that tomorrow.

There's a lot of backlog here on my end. I'm trying my best to lessen it, but replies might be less frequent for a time. A welcome change from the nothing doing I went through though! Thanks partners!

Bio

I suppose it is about time for me to copypaste fill in some information about myself over here just as well. Only took me a few years to getting around to do it.

I am a married individual in my twenties from the country some people dare claim does not exist. The Finland conspiracy is an old joke, you can stop with it now. Not a native speaker of the English language by any means, though I did begin studying it exceptionally early for our country's standards. I suppose it was some sort of a test case. With that out of the way though, what more should I be saying here...
  • I like being nice to people. If one needs to ask why, well that alone is reason enough.
  • I play and Dungeon Master Dungeons and Dragons, both offline and in the past also over here.
  • I enjoy OOC chatter, be it planning the RP or a more casual exchange (not that RP'ing is that serious). I can make do without, but don't be afraid to talk to me.
  • Whatever the case, I'm here to have fun and hone my writing abilities!
I do think that should about cover it, yes.

Thanks for stopping by I suppose! I do also have a Discord account, but I prefer to start anything RP related on the site. At least with people I don't know from the past, that is! But hey, now if you are a longer time contact of mine and happened to read this, now you know and can ask!

Your turn!

Also calling all others for an announcement: I am going to be away from my books for the weekend, so while I can read what happens here and perhaps even post somewhere else, I will be unable to advance the game from Friday afternoon until Sunday evening. Technically given how we've currently set this up, you may be able to go through an entire round before I need to say anything so there would be no visible delays.

On another note, I thought about Bless and the Advantage mechanics, and given how advantage and Bless are written (Advantage is rolling the d20 twice and taking the higher while Bless is adding to a single check), I believe one does first roll the two d20's, pick the bigger number and then add a single roll of Bless. Technically it changes very little, but that's how I interpret it. Do you people have other theories on the matter?
@Norschtalen
Well, it is a 1d4 and only a 1d4 per target and only as long as the spell lasts... and there definitely are more powerful options when it comes to concentration spells. Well, not this early, but Bless is supposed to be good early. Perhaps the DM's have been afraid of it being too powerful, but the wording is clear especially when compared to the Bardic Inspiration it resembles: The BI specifically states that it is for one die only. If they wanted to limit Bless and/or Bane, they would have stated that in the spell description. The errata has nothing on the subject either, so I do not see why it would not be used as written.
@Dusksong
No need to wait for me, as you've already probably noticed. I'll post if I believe there is need for me to post or there are NPC's in the area.
@Dusksong
Moldy wood on the chain? Probably not going to happen. Again, the chain is wrapped around the arm, not much else. It should be possible to get it off with a moment of work on it. Also, attempting to do things IC is a good way to find out. If I notice something I should react to, I will be there as soon as possible. If I'm not, call for me.
@Gordian Nought@The Harbinger of Ferocity
The wording on the matter of Bless is quite clear. "Whenever" and "until the spell ends" in the same sentence, in addition to no mentions of losing the benefit unless the caster's concentration is broken. Bless is good for multiple uses.

In any case, it would be @Ryonara's turn now.

Indeed, posts have become short as of late. I technically could drop a hint as to what I expect you to do, but I firmly believe finding things out for yourselves is the more rewarding option.

Just say the word if you believe yourselves to be hopelessly stuck. I am not playing against you, but with you.
@Lucius Cypher
Yup, 18 is high enough for Orchid to climb. Pardon me for forgetting the turn change announcement.

@The Harbinger of Ferocity
It would be your turn now.
There indeed are many "Idiot" barbarians out there, just as there are "Chaotic Stupid" rogues and "Lawful Stupid" paladins. They are the easy entryways to the game though and for someone that easy way might be the Drow girl in skimpy clothing and a flirtatious attitude, even if said thing is nearly impossible lore-wise for a multitude of reasons. That's why they are tropes: They are easy to approach so you see them often.

I don't think we have too many of those though: Orchid is no idiot (if a bit foolhardy), Brannor is no unwavering bulwark of faith, Parum's self-esteem does not seem to be through the roof (and they are not flirting with everything, something I believe to also be a Bard trope), Kyra is not some acolyte straight out of seclusion and Torus isn't the typical tree-hugger either. We've got quite the group of trope-breakers in our hands.
@Lucius Cypher
Oh, I made a small mistake in my rush. Well, a 10 is still not cutting it as unfortunate as it is. As for the climbing, the tower is quite harpoon proof given it is part of the keep wall, but it's rough enough to climb without any aid. If he also uses a harpoon for aid whenever he can, I'd say that is an Athletics check to scale the wall at 2/3 speed. Got to not say the DC out loud or you could not benefit from Bless and inspiration... which is also something you could have technically used for your reaction... let's just leave them for your turn, yes? The occasional troubles of Forum based TRPGs
@Hekazu
Also even though it's not quite in range yet, could I still have Orchid throw his harpoon? Even though it's outside of 30 feet, he can try to hit fifty. Normally that'd be with disadvantage but with Parum's magic it's a neutral chance.

Sure thing, what was the length of the rope again? Oh, exactly fifty feet. How convenient. Let me make a few rolls to see how that ends up, you can throw in an interlude post with that information if it works out...

That would be an 10 (with the +2 I forgot from prof.) on the throw, so it misses. You'll have another chance on your turn though (if you've got another one ready to go), given where it has "stopped" per in combat rules.
