I'm having way too much fun with my Legend of Zelda Encylopedia. This is the game that got me into roleplaying so have a lot invested in it's lore and stories. Too bad can't have all the games too.

OOC is now up.

Now I'm talking about the Light Novel/Anime of Overlord here for any wondering. As interesting as the series is, frankly there is still almost zero danger for Momonga and the Great Tomb of Nazarik. The world around them is basically screwed as these nightmarish creatures descend on the world with nothing to stop them.

So basically the premise I was thinking of was that another player, or players, were also present and sucked into the new world. Perhaps a guild full of Angels and elementals for instance that could become a counterbalance for the Tomb of Nazarik. The anime didn't get into it too much but if you ever read most of the translated light novels, you'd know a lot of Ainz Ooal Gown's npcs have some very evil hobbies and personalities.

Locations that would make the most sense for this alternate player base would probably be the Slane Theocracy or Dragonic Kingdom; maybe the Argrand Council Alliance or Roble Holy Kingdom as well. Might be easier to not start in the Slane Theocracy since they are the most developed nation in the Light Novels after Re-Estize and Baharuth Empires though their Holy humanity first attitudes would certainly make for an interesting starting location.

Eventually paths would start to cross with Great Tomb of Nazarik NPCs and things would get more intense from then.

Thoughts? Questions? Etc.
@IceHeart

I haven't seen the movie (and likely never will) but it sounds like this is a casting issue rather than one of race. Would you have had a problem with it if they had found a buff imposing Indian actor?

It'd still seem strange to me, but having a buff imposing Indian playing him would have been closer to what the original character was suppose to represent so probably not. I understand these are high school kids so he wouldn't be too developed but certainly they could have picked an actor that could give off the athletic, bad-boy vibe rather than whoever that was they chose. He was just so far from Flash Thompson's original character they might as well have just made him someone entirely new instead.

One of the worst cases I have seen in recent series History of this obsession with minorities has to be the Jimmy Olsen switch they did for SuperGirl though. The young, dorky kid who was always in the superman cartoons who worked for the daily planet and was a redhead, was changed into a good-looking black man. Well he got changed to James if I remember correct but still its so opposite of the original character it was just so weird. Anyway, Supergirl is definitely not a series I could ever recommend, a textbook example of politics and agendas being forced down the viewers throat without worrying about the story quality.

That new Star Trek series, Discovery, they're trying to do is going to fail miserably. Doesn't look anything like how Star Trek is supposed to look or feel.
(I feel like this topic may have been mentioned a while ago but I don't want to search through the thread so whatever)

So I just got back from watching the new Spider-Man: Homecoming movie and the strange obsession with racial-bending was never so apparent. Course if you never were someone who followed Spider-Man at all as a kid no doubt it probably wouldn't have grated on your nerves as much as it did me. This diversity agenda was so ridiculously strong it was just impossible not to see which detracted a bit from the film unfortunately.

There is nothing wrong with wanting a diverse cast but changing such iconic characters from the Spider-Man franchise into such different characters just felt so forced. At least they had the guts to make the new MJ a totally different character from the old one with an actual different name, Michelle, who is definitely not Mary Jane. From what little I got to see of her character though, she seems very unlikable as a character and I pity Peter Parker if he ends up dating her.

I am unsure what in the world compelled the writers to make Flash Thompson, who was always a really athletic, jock type bully character, into some rather small Indian kid with no physical presence whatsoever. It is just one of the strangest casting choices for Flash I had ever seen making him completely unrecognizable from his source material. Overall the diversity thing isn't that big of a deal although the poster boys for this diversity agenda were certainly Flash, MJ, and Peter's new friend who at least is a new character and not some reimagining of the comic book characters.

And what was with the new Aunt May? She was just...weird, I was so confused by her character and the terminology she used, what is she supposed to be an ex-hippie or something?

Well, what do you guys think of the whole messing with old comic book characters and changing them in such radical ways instead of just doing an update for them? The biggest problem I have with it is how it can completely change the original purpose of the character if they go too far with the changes. Take Flash for instance, he was suppose to be the big bully jock that Peter would often clash with but had to be careful around since beating the big jock in a fight as puny Parker could be bad for his secret identity. In this version of the Flash he is just another annoying kid who likes to use annoying words and phrases rather than trying to be a physically imposing person who is used to getting his own way.

The movie itself was good but man I had a hard time liking a lot of the characters which made me not enjoy the film as much as I wished I could.

The superhero industry these days really is on the front line of a strange culture war.
As for who wants to be Valkyria, just tell me and I'll add the necessary stuff to your character.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.

I'm curious about the Valkyria, were you thinking she would be a potential Valkyria, like Alicia who had to discover her powers, or a Valkyria right off the bat? Also were you thinking of making the Valkyria more of a supersoldier or actually someone who uses ragnite weaponry like a true Valkyria? Depending on the direction you had in mind would greatly effect how she would be developed.
I always did like that game. Making this as a 'prequel' sets up for some interesting potential narratives. So many characters that I barely used in that game...

I'll be keeping an eye on this one.
Not to be rude, but you do know Trump has spent nearly half of his presidency golfing or at Maralago, he's done very little except signing executive orders, and making one mistake after another. The only thing that can be considered something that hasn't been either idiotic or selfish was his missile strike on Syria, and even then, that was prematurely done at best. I'm honestly worried on him being in office another year, much less three.

Hillary is no one's first choice, but at least she has experience and, even if you might think she's the anti-christ, she has people who she wishes to please, and good candidates that vouche for her like Obama, Sanders, and her Husband (though that's a given).

I bet he gets a lot more done and is able to think better when he is outside of the incredibly hostile environment that pretty much envelops the white house. Considering he has been in office for so little time, he has actually got quite a lot done so I have no idea where you are getting this idea of doing very little. Overall though, I am much more interested in what his 'staff' can get accomplished then President Trump, mostly I hope he can be a decent catalyst for the other people to get their jobs done.

I'm more worried about how you can consider Obama, Sanders, and Bill Clinton as being good candidates. Obama got very little done during his time in the White House and created a lot more problems then he fixed, like pushing through a poorly constructed health care bill that is imploding. Sanders seemed like a decent fellow at first, until he sold out his followers to pave the way for Hillary and revealed his true colors. Now Bill, admittedly he actually had some decent success as a President but considering he almost got impeached for some rather disgusting behavior shows he is severely lacking in the moral compass department. As bad as that was, it is the Clinton Foundation that really takes the cake with their despicable behavior in Haiti which includes both Hillary and Bill.
@SleepingSilence XD. No worries. Also don't feel so alone. I'm a Christian, myself.

Also I'm an Independent, politically. And by that, I don't mean I vote for the Independent party. They've given Independents a bad name, recently. I mean I vote without party affiliation. I wasn't overly fond of Hillary Clinton becoming president, but I will happily say I voted for her because I was/am anti-Trump. I don't hate the guy, but he's a clear fool. His last 120+ days have proven it all over the board. Though I'm starting to think I'd rather him than Mitch McConnell handle our healthcare.

I couldn't help but find it funny that I am essentially the same as you: Christian, and independent politically, but found myself going in a much different direction. I found both candidates to be atrocious, Trump for being his uncouth self and Hillary for embodying the corrupt establishment heavily entrenched in power. Finding myself unhappy with both of them, I voted third party even though I knew they would not get the votes needed to even take one state, though I do hope this can happen in the future as the Republican and Democratic parties are falling apart at the seams.

While I could not bring myself to vote for Trump even though I consider Hillary to be a lying scum-bag with virtually no moral compass whatsoever[her campaign strategy certainly didn't help her image any + all them scandals], I still found myself hoping that Trump would win the presidency. The number one reason for this being getting a constitutional judge on the Supreme Court, if Hillary had been elected, God help America with whatever loony hard core liberal she would have tried to put on there. The hard stance on illegal immigration was a plus and also a faint hope that a business man might have the know-how to help the economy.

I could certainly say I was essentially the opposite of you, anti-Hillary but even that wasn't enough to push me to vote for Trump.

As for 2020, Trump will get a second term if he is able to bulldoze through the establishment and get even a few of the things on his agenda done. Considering all that he has accomplished in his short time as president he can certainly get a lot more done in three years time. Unless the democrats can somehow get their acts together and stop acting like violence against dissenting voices is a good thing, they will be unable to find a person who can run against Trump in 2020.

Of course what I hope will happen is that because Trump was kind of like a third party runner using the Republican party, this will encourage more third parties to get into the race who could give us people we might actually want to vote for. Here's to hoping for the rise of third parties as viable alternatives in political races! Gotta break apart the bi-partisan effort to keep everyone else out of political races. You ever look at the requirements for non-Republicans/Democrats to run for some offices? Pretty crazy how much harder they make it for other people.
"That? It's my ship."

The answer he gave, at least it sounded like a male from under that helmet, was not one that made a lot of sense. A ship was something that sailed the seas, not something that could travel across land or the air for that matter. She had heard of secret projects to make 'airships' but the ship that kept exploding looked nothing like the vague concept designs she had seen once, for one there appeared to be not a single sign of a propeller.

Once the tall man started to talk about other planets, Diana realized that the man was probably insane. Diana sighed and relaxed her stance a bit, putting the point of her sword downward to show she would not be a threat if he didn't do anything. Taking her left hand off the hilt she scratched the side of her head, ruffling her hair a little.

"I can see you're lost in more ways than one. That being said, even if you are lost I don't have time help you. I was tracking a monster through the woods but now if your junk burning down the fortress it's gonna take me some time to pick up the trail again." As she spoke she also had no idea how the monster or monsters would react to the wreckage that had taken out a chunk of the woods. Either they would scatter, or some might be attracted to the flame and investigate, either did not bode very well for her assignment.

"I still need to go further into these woods, so if you want to find the nearest town you'd best go the opposite way I'm going." Diana continued as she started to look around more to pick up the trail of her quarry, but making sure to keep the stranger in her sights.

"With all that fancy armor though, not sure if they'll feel safe around you."
Despite having no signs of life previously, the figure on the ground was back into action. As soon as she noticed movement Diana quickly backed off a few steps as a precaution. She had known at a glance that the individual was rather large, but as it stood up to full height it really stuck home just how much larger the armored individual was.

Diana was perhaps, 5'3" at best making the large man over a foot taller than she was. The height difference was rather intimidating but she managed to keep a straight face regardless. If the person was a human, they had to be the tallest human she had ever seen. Whatever they were they were big, physically built, and heavily armored though the ease with which the figure moved meant that either its armor was rather light, or they were just that physically strong.

As she watched it rise she could not help but grip her sword in two hands for extra power. Frankly though, considering how tough the strange armor looked, she doubted even her best swing could cut through.

"Uh, Hello?" The figure greeted her with an uncomfortable wave of its hand. It sounded friendly enough but one did not survive long on their own if they did not approach unusual situations with caution.

"I don't suppose you want to explain who you are and what that thing is?" Diana pointed with her sword toward the flaming hunk of metal that ended the lives of many a tree and unsuspecting land critter that day. "Finding a heavily armored person in the middle of the woods nearby a flaming metal fireball begs quite a few questions."
Diana Florence was trekking through some heavily wooden terrain on the way to her destination. The hardened young woman took out a somewhat dirty canteen and took a sip of water. She was quite thankful the true heat of summer was still a ways off but the air was still warm and slightly muggy, which made her bit of chain-mail rather hot and sweaty underneath. Despite the minor annoyances she was still making decent headway though had to adjust her knapsack from time to time in order to feel comfortable.

The reason she was essentially in the middle of nowhere was because of her current job. Her task was to investigate the claims that a monster den had appeared in these woods and if it existed to locate and report it's location back to the nearby town who would inform the proper people to handle the situation. It was hard and dangerous work, especially for a lone mercenary where death or worse fates could easily befall her, but it was the life she chose for herself.

Only recently had she discovered signs of life other than wild animals in the area and she had started to track a set of hoof prints that betrayed the fact the creature walked on two legs, meaning it was not an animal but a monster. As she hunted after the creature she saw more and more signs of recent travel, such as broken twigs, scuffed up patches of dirt, even some excrement which was unpleasant to stumble upon but told her that she was only a few hours behind.

"I can only hope it leads me back to its den." Diana muttered to herself as she found herself climbing over a fallen tree. "If its only a loner this will all be for nothing, but if I do find their lair I'll have to be careful not to be detected." If there indeed was a monster den in the area and if the hoof prints belonged to one of the species she was thinking of, she would soon have to be careful in her pursuit and try to avoid setting off any crude alarms systems.

Her thoughts about how to proceed were interrupted when she felt that something was amiss. Soon enough a bunch of concerned birds quickly shot up into the air and flew off. Seeing where they were fleeing she looked the opposite way and saw a glimpse of something in the sky. It was hard to tell what it was but it was big, quite big. First thought was maybe a dragon but it appeared to be mostly one color and was just too oddly shaped to be any creature she knew.

She crouched down and hid, unsure of what it was, only that it was fast and coming closer. Thankfully it was not head straight for her and would easily miss her but, what in the world was it? She lost sight of it when she hid and then came the terrible crashing sounds as the object started to smash through the forest with its sheer speed and mass. Trees snapped, were toppled and even splintered into thousands of pieces as the huge hunk of metal tore through the woods. The crashing sounds were so loud and terrifying that Diana had to cover her ears and held her breath on reflex so the monster wouldn't notice her.

One more tree topple over from the onslaught, and then all was silence. Diana gingerly peeked out for her hiding space behind a hollowed out tree and listened. She waited for a full minute but no other sounds could be heard. Extricating herself from her position, her tracking mission pushed aside for the moment, she hurried over to where the sounds were. Soon enough she came upon a section disintegrated trees and earth where the massive object had first touched ground. Following the carnage she saw it, whatever it was.

It was huge, made of what appeared to be metal, yet not. It was definitely on fire and the swath of destruction it had caused was excessive. Without closer examination it would be impossible to even guess at what it was, some secret project by a neighboring government perhaps? Bits and pieces were thrown about the woods, most of it on the ground behind the thing. She tried to identify it but it was like nothing she had even seen before, but then she saw a figure, sprawled out among the rubble.

It looked human, but the strange armor it wore was unlike anything she had ever seen before. Like plate-mail yet perhaps more like the exoskeleton of an insect that was impossible for a human to replicate. She had absolutely no clue what was going on but considering how strange this was, she needed to investigate and find out the identity of the figure. Considering it probably fell from whatever the burning metal slab was, there was a good chance it was dead but as a mercenary she never let down her guard as she cautiously approached, careful of her surrounds as well as the figure on the ground.

Before long she was on top of it, one hand gripped her short sword for defense as she circled around, trying to detect any signs of life. She gave one of its legs and nudge and stepped back quickly just in case. This whole situation was so out of the normal, Diana hadn't a clue how to proceed. "It looks dead but with all that armor its hard to be certain. What could have been flying around on that?"

She looked again to the strange object but it still made zero sense to her. This was going to be a rather strange day.
