@Zapdos

I see~ alright, got it. Well, all fictional universes are in essence subjective to the whims of the creator, so it's not a bad thing, as I said with my "Your word is Law as the GM" statement.

MGR is short for Metal Gear Rising, an action hack-and-slash video game developed by Platinum Games and released in 2013. (Wikipedia Article)

Raiden refers to the main protagonist of said game, and his abilities and gimmicks are the main inspiration for Camille, as noted in the Trivia section of her CS.

This video perfectly illustrates my main reference on how Camille fights, and also the fact that steel-cutting slice slice is most of the gameplay:

Or, to be more specific, how she'll eventually become at the peak of her power. She's a rookie now after all!

God, my character comparatively looks low effort. And isn't nearly as powerful...

Any tips on presentation?

Here's my super secret method...

Alright, so I looked through your CS. I like the effort you put into Camile and her backstory, but her powers are way too strong. These heroes are meant to be rookies, not experts. I think the super strength is fine, but adding in the speed and agility basically make her Mecha Girl Superman, and that's pretty OP (plus another person is making a super speed character). Or she could have enhanced human abilities? Basically, the nanobots allow her to be in peak physical condition, having abilities beyond most humans but without her being Superman (if that makes any sense). I think that plus her research skills and family wealth is pretty impressive as it is.

Also, I'd say Rose Noire would need to be nerfed a little. I'm fine with it cutting through most materials, but a sword shouldn't be able to cut through things like concrete and steel as if they're butter.

Let me know what you think; I can tell you put some thought into your CS and I'm impressed with how quickly you made it.

Those are fair assessments!

Yeah~ I had the feeling that she's a bit too strong for a week-old superhero career, but since I had no benchmark to compare her against, I decided to lie on the stronger side then nerf as necessary, instead of the other way around.

Also, I have specific replies to this part of your review:
Also, I'd say Rose Noire would need to be nerfed a little. I'm fine with it cutting through most materials, but a sword shouldn't be able to cut through things like concrete and steel as if they're butter.

If we're going by Marvel and/or DC stuff? I don't know... it's pretty wild there, anything goes, a sword that can cut through concrete or steel is even nowhere the strangest thing around.

If we're going by Raiden from MGR, his sword cutting through steel is like 99% of the gameplay, it even has a whole in-combat minigame revolving on how to best cut those steel stuff, just so you have a full context on why I put that in.

Regardless, this is your universe and as the GM, your word is Law. If a supernatural sword in this universe can't cut through steel or concrete, then so it shall be.

Finally, and most importantly, I've made the edits!
@Zapdos Aaand my CS is up for review!

Great! To answer your questions:

1) I'd like at least 4-5 players, but I don't have an upper limit in mind. I know people do lose interest in RPs or life gets busy, so I want to be prepared for that to be safe.
2) I'd work with the players or have them work with one another to figure out a way to resolve it. Maybe one of them has another idea they can use instead. Of course, if for example Player A posts their laser eyes hero today and Player B posts it five days from now, I'm much more inclined to say Player B should change since they had plenty of "notice" so to speak. In any case, I'll try to be fair and reasonable when working with people.

Does that answer your questions?

Nice! Yes, you answered those two questions nicely.

I'll get to brainstorming my CS now. Right now, I'm thinking of making a cyber-magical girl of sorts (E.g: Nanoha, Symphogear, Busou Shinki. Basically magical girls with mecha-esque powers), but who knows if my creativity takes me elsewhere.

Excited to be here!
@zapdos This looks lit, and the fact that we’re all starting on the same playing field is right up my alley!

A couple of the usual questions:
1. How many players are you thinking of taking in?
2. What happens if two PCs have a set of powers that are quite similar in essence?

"Cough! Mmmgh!" Tears ran down her eyes as Valkyrie trusted her legs to carry her to wherever it'd be safe from the lachrymal assault. With not even a second to spare for observation, she could only hope that her lightning bolt of a melody did something against those bastards. A moment later, she found herself inside one of the apartment rooms far away from her previous spot, the air here freed from any irritating white smoke. "Haaa..." While her wincing eyes were still bloodshot and tearing up, she could at least get some fresh air and apparently, whether it was due to her esper form enhanced physique or the tear gas' subpar potency or both, her ocular faculty cleared up faster than she thought it'd be.

This allowed the brunette to clear her mind and focus back on the mission at hand. She made a few grunts as she stood back up, went to the doorway, then peeked out into the hallway before turning her gaze toward the Precinct across the street. "Huh...?" It was at this point that she noticed the mobsters who had been shooting at her suddenly stopped, they couldn't even be seen as a plume of opaque smoke blocked the window. It could mean many things, but the one prevailing theory would be that her lightning bolt snagged a few of them, then they realized that cover meant nothing against her so they decided to retreat out of sight, yep, makes sense.

"Heh~" She was doing quite well considering her odds, that lifted her spirits a little. Although... where's Wukong? Didn't Veronica say that she'll be assisting her? Shit... the monkey didn't get into trouble on the way here, right?

Valkyrie was about to report the situation when her gut warned her that something was up, that inexplicable sixth sense humans have when an impending danger is near. "...?!" However, it still wasn't enough as by the time she whipped about, there was an 80s reject psycho with a gas mask clad in a stolen EOD suit all up in her face. Merry's red-orange pupils constricted in immediate fight or flight instinct and judging by the movement of her trigger finger, it's firmly in the former. However, the hostile was restraining Teslic Gauss' barrel with her arm, then the ominous glint of a combat knife was caught by her peripheral vision-

-Merry didn't think, her body moved on its own as vein-patterned lightning surged down her free left arm, her electrified hand splayed open-

"Kom deg vekk fra meg!!"

BAM!!

A violent boom shook the air akin to a localized lightning strike as Valkyrie slammed said left palm into Viper's chest, the melody cast upon her via touch. If the move was successful, it should result in Viper's torso being paralyzed as her frame was thrown about ten feet back, then Valkyrie would aim the freed railgun and let loose as many sabots as she could at the neon-haired gangster, professionally aimed at her vitals.

If that failed through one way or another, well, getting stabbed was always an option.

Oooooooh trust me I understand completely. First D&D game I was ever in we rolled stats with a rather merciless GM and I ended up the lowest of the bunch, with the highest guy having 20 points over me. My character was completely useless in combat despite being a fighter. And was character-ending-event'ed out of game due to some stupid bullshit I won't get into here, and then the rest of the group joked about how they were gonna brutally murder her later.

I completely understand where you're coming from.

Thank you for the empathy, and fuck those assholes, it’s certainly worse than my case as in mine, the GM and super PC players had no malicious intentions at all, it was entirely my fault. In yours? Yeah, they need a high-five, to the face, with a bat, laden with spikes.

<Snipped quote by Izurich>

To make a long answer short:

Yes. But in general the stronger your character, the stronger I expect you to accordingly think of the consequences, and also the more i'll put them under scrutiny.

Hmmmm… alright, then it’s not my cup of tea, apologies, I prefer RPs where the PCs are mandated to have a strictly equal or at most minor differences in raw power.

I cannot continue my participation in good faith as I don’t trust myself to not succumb to my old trauma and be toxic, thus ruining the experience for everyone involved.

Nevertheless, I wish you all great fun in the rp! And perhaps we’ll meet again in the future.
@Lady Lascivious

Indeed, in the end, it does boil down to how we see the nuances of power and how it affects our enjoyment of the collaborative writing activity.

Oh, I won’t refute your statement about me missing a piece of the puzzle. You are correct. I am well aware that I’m a bit weird when it comes to being sensitive about differences in raw power between the PCs, regardless of themes, nuances, and everything else.

@Yam I Am Those are very good points. Hmmm… gave me a lot to think about.

So, I don’t wish to drag out this discussion anymore than necessary and fill up the thread with my rambling. I will ask one final question to end it, it may be an obvious question, but here goes:

Will this RP allow Average Joe and Thor PCs to mix?
