Hoshi was hit for super effective damage. "Hoshi, turn Zerina's speed boost against her with Trick Room!" Hoshi's core glowed as the Starmie created a zone around the battlefield that made faster Pokémon slow and vice versa.

Hoshi didn't receive much damage due to type resistance. "Hoshi, extinguish that fire with your Aquatic Catherine Wheel combo!" The Starmie used a combination of Rapid Spin and Hydro Pump to imitate a Catherine wheel firework only instead of sparks and coloured flames, water shot out from all ten limbs and extinguished the raining flames.

"It's time to add some lustre to this dance," Shiranui rebutted, "Hoshi, Power Gem!" The Starmie's core lit up and blasted a bright red beam at Zerina, spinning its rear set of limbs like a propeller to maintain altitude.

"You got it," Shiranui accepted, "Hoshi, start with a Rapid Spin/Reflect Type combo!" The Starmie jumped into the air and started spinning very fast in mid-air, finishing its appeal by changing its colours to match Zerina's orange and pale yellow colour scheme.

"That's if you can take down Liam and I; and I plan to extinguish the notion of that happening," Shiranui rebutted. The timer started. "Hoshi, I choose you!" Stars flew out of Hoshi's Poké Ball and two of them joined to form a ten-pointed star that metamorphosed into a Starmie.

Shiranui got ready for his semi-final battle against Sashia. He was thinking over various strategies to use against Zerina in her Mega Y form.

Shiranui saw the quick battle and knew Zerina would be a formidable foe after seeing her trounce a Greninja. "Zerina's Normal-type moves will get a boost in power from that bow she's wearing," he mused. Zoro had been recalled before Sashia's battle.

Shiranui was paired against Pike Queen Lucy and having defeated her for the Luck Symbol he was confident he'll move on to the semis. The timer started. "Go Seviper!"
"Hoshi, I choose you!" Shiranui sent his Starmie out.
"Seviper, Bite!"
"Hoshi, Reflect Type!" The Starmie changed its type to match Seviper's before getting a nasty bite.
"Seviper, Night Slash!"
"Hoshi, Hydro Pump!" Hoshi jumped into the air and started spinning fast, spraying water out of all ten of its limbs. Seviper was inundated and could not reach the spinning Starmie.
"Seviper, use Poison Fang!"
"Hoshi, Psychic!" Hoshi's core glowed a bright cyan as Seviper was held in a psychic grip and swung around like a gymnast's ribbon before being slammed to the stage. The move knocked Seviper out and Shiranui advanced to the semi-final.

Shiranui lad let Zoro out so he can watch his crush perform. He informed the Zoroark of the name change. "What a beautiful name," the Zoroark commented in Poké-speech.
