Bio

Hey all, JB here.

I'm a DM for a large number of games here on RPG, as well as a player in several others. Many of the games I run are overly complex, or they involve Dungeons and Dragons (which is also overly complex!).

I work 40+ hours a week, and am the proud father of two tiny terrors named Chibi and Chibette and married to my beautiful Wifey. As such, I am quite busy more often than not. I typically write 2-5 paragraphs per reply and try to maintain an excellent level of grammar. If you noticed me glancing at your profile, I probably was looking to see if you would be a good match for my RPing style. Even if I didn't send a PM to you, feel free to send one back!

I enjoy 1x1 RPs and small groups. I'm fond of medieval, steampunk, and futuristic settings, and I'll jump into romance, adventure, and slice of life RPs fairly quickly, although supernatural (vampires, werewolves, etc) RPs get old for me pretty quickly. If you're looking for an RP partner and I've glanced at your profile, then I'm most likely willing to give it a shot, but decided against PMing you because I'm actually kinda shy. But I'm always looking for a new friend!

Please feel free to say hi at any time!

oh wow im the only guy who's character doesn't look hot and boner inducing/panty wetting wow oh my golly gee did i just self insert oh my oh dear

lol - I thought it was a requirement that all OCs look groin-numbingly hot [/jk]. Surprisingly, it's a lot harder to find normal-looking people than extraordinarily good-looking ones.

(Also, I think Lee looks better than Yamamoto, just sayin')
Sorry for not being online much. I have mono and have been bedridden with no bloody energy or appetite. ;-;

Well, I certainly don't envy you. Get better soon, and keep me updated if you can.
Ooooh. Interested in this.

Hey, how's it going?

Send me a PM with a character idea and we can work out the particulars. Since this RP is heavy on the combat side, there are a fair number of particulars. In the meantime, take a look at the Public Sheet with how the otherscreated the mechanics side of their PCs.
The general raised an eyebrow at Ceria’s comment about his armor. “Certainly when I was your age, I was more used to long days in the sun. My job now is mostly behind a desk or training others who wear the armor for me. More strategy and organization than actual combat, although I can certainly hold my own.” Aengus chuckled slightly before taking a sip of the tea. “And yes, we of Bourgund hold freedom as a very high ideal. That is, after all, what today’s celebration is about. The irony is that bureaucracy holds little freedom for any in its clutches, whether they are ruler or citizen.”

As the discussion moved towards those in the streets, Cavanaugh leaned forward, seeming to pay a bit more attention. “Normally, we pay little mind to doomsayers. Although that sort of speech is something I personally have little stomach for, our laws dictate that our citizens may say what they will, providing they do not bring harm to others. This law, in fact, is what draws such a wide citizenry to our walls, and thus brings clergy from nearly every order in the West.” The General directed this last statement towards Ulor. “However, if you seek a strong mage, whether of arcane or divine origin, your best bet is Bemmea in the Magocracy. Those of high attunement to their craft typically travel there, as they can find better profit or causes to work for. The clergy here simply serves the common folk.”

The General set down his tea and approached the group, looking with some intrigue at the octopus and its companions. His gaze finally came to rest on the paladin. “Your question, good sir, is what I have called you here to discuss. As I said, normally religions are free to spout whatever nonsense they wish, provided no one gets hurt. However, rumors have arisen of a cult that follows Zehir. We believe that this cult may be organized, extending beyond these walls, and perhaps connected in some way to what transpired in the Fellmire. Their methods are subtle and cunning, and we have been unable to find either their base of operations or their next plans. We would like you to locate and infiltrate them, if possible, and determine whether any action should be taken against them.”

Loxim spoke up at this, although his interruption did not seem to annoy the General. “Be aware that we are not deputizing you for this mission,” he cautioned. “You still do not have authority to apprehend or mete justice, although we would expect you to defend yourselves, of course. Should you return successfully, a reward will be dispensed in accordance with the value of the information you bring.” He wrote as he spoke, his quill fluttering across his desk, and he didn’t even bother to make eye contact with the group. “Our best lead is a new representative from Allain: a half-orc artificer who set up shop a few blocks hence. Once she arrived, we began receiving complaints and started to find poisoned bodies in the streets. Thus far, we have no evidence against her, and anything we have heard could simply be coincidence, but it might be a good starting place.”
@JBRam2002 To cement our characters' friendship, the Tabaxi and the cleric may share a common meditative locale, a venue where each can pray and devote to their respective trances. And, how about the yo-yo as a gag gift from Katia to Wick, but secretly a whip weapon in the right proficient hands, to discern if Wick is clever to discern its methods?

Sounds good. Even though whips aren't monk weapons, I'm sure Katia would find it an interesting gift. As for meditation... Anything nature-y would be Katia's preference. Barring that, she would probably just place a mat on the floor and meditate there. I'm not sure what the general area of where we start will look like, but either outside the city, a park, a fountain, or anything similar would work for Katia.
@Big Dread Currently, the only healing we have is provided by the warlock's crossclass as a Knowledge Cleric. I'm not sure how deep the multiclass is going, but I'll never turn down more heals! Tempest Cleric is a ton of fun, but I haven't seen a Light Cleric played yet. Just my thoughts, feel free to do whatever you wish~

Stop in on the other thread too. I think you might like my bad-pun catgirl.
@JBRam2002, speaking of 'pranks', you may find Wick willing to reciprocate, mainly to hone her illusions and charms on someone who is adept at trickery, like Katia. However, Wick may view it more work than play, in addition to not completely understanding the jovial humor linked to these shenanigans.

Thank you, @JBRam2002, for also catching those oversights as I indeed missed them. These are now corrected.

I have also altered her height to 4' 11''. Keeping her under 5 feet is strategic with Minor Illusion and Disguise Self, to shift her height to that of a child or adult. With regards to Wick's age, you have to unfortunately scroll to see all the numbers and meanings. Her first number, of 979, is in regards to her longevity as an elf, before her rebirth. The latter 19 is in keeping with her reincarnation as a Celestial and their lifespans.

Heh, that would be an interesting dynamic between Wick and Katia. Perhaps Wick tried to move her more in line with Wick's philosophies with the illusion? It of course wouldn't work, and now Katia probably thinks Wick is a fellow prankster.

And yeah, the age box is too small to see much beyond "979 (as a ", and on my phone, it was difficult to scroll through, so apologies for not catching that. Interesting idea~
As a foreigner (in relation to your characters), Katia probably would only recently have met anyone in the group. She has a natural curiosity to an extreme (Kuriosity killed the Kat). She is outgoing and talkative, although she doesn't always say the right thing at the right time. She also might be a bit of a prankster, given the opportunity.

As for how everyone met, anything is possible. One option could be that Katia made it to one of y'all's cities, and with no belongings or real direction, was caught with nowhere to live. Someone may have taken pity on her and given her a place to stay for an evening, which likely turned into her permanent residence with or without real permission.

Another option could be that Katia pulled a harmless prank on one of y'all for, as it is stated colloquially, the lulz. Depending on your characters' point of view, they could have retaliated in a way that got her attention, either by siccing the authorities on her or pulling a prank of their own. With the former, she would be penitent and seek to right any perceived wrongs. Withthe latter, she would be appreciative of the prank and probably be your char's best friend (whether or not it is reciprocated).

@Cu Chulainn@Gordian Nought

Also Gordian, I noticed you didn't add PB to your saves with proficiency. Not trying to be nitpicky, just don't want you to get charmed unnecessarily or get banished while we're fighting a dracolisk and need that restoration.

Aso, you still add your ability score to non-proficient weapon damage. You only do not do so if you are dual-wielding without the fighting style and it's your off-weapon.

In addition, I'm not sure if Harb's world is different from the standard D&D, but Aasimar are basically celestial tieflings, meaning they age at about the same rate as humans and live only slightly longer. Also, they are built like well-proportiined humans, and I've usually seen Aasimar as slightly taller than average. Having a 4' 7" Aasimar would be interesting, but I'm not sure if Harb will allow a 970 year old one to be considered "young." Of course, if this has all been ok'd ignore me, just some things I noticed prior to digging into backstory.
"I really wish you would come home sooner."

Sayako stood in the doorway to their home in a short black dress with a plunging V-neck, blocking Ryobi's entrance as he removed the keys from the cart he drove to work. Her voice was steady and quiet, but her folded arms belied more than simple annoyance. Ryobi sighed quietly as he stepped out of the small vehicle.

"I don't control my hours; the warden does. You know this." They had gone through this conversation so many times previously that their neighbors could probably quote it verbatim. He stepped towards the door from the tiny parking space alotted and reached for Sayako to give her a kiss, but she turned her head away.

"Sure, she does," Sayako murmured. "You missed Benji's game again." On the station, there were very few sports that could be played, but the Captain had set aside an area to work as a soccer field for the children on the station. Sure, gravity worked a little differently in space, but the exercise was good for them. Every couple of weeks, the teams would hold a few scrimmages and reshuffle the players, helping the children learn teamwork instead of team identity. It was a brilliant system; Sayako was one of the parents who helped create it.

"Ah, shit. I forgot... I'll make it to the next one, I promise." Ryobi tried to push past Sayako, but she didn't budge. "You gonna let me in?"

"You said that about the last game. And the one before that. And you seem to have forgotten one more thing, Ryobi."

He glanced past her, seeing the candle flickering on a table, a half-eaten meal getting cold, the bottle of 2037 Chardonnay half empty. The realization hit him like a sack of bricks.

"Benji is at Sam's tonight. And you're going to Lucian's. If you have a problem with that, talk to the warden." Sayako stepped back into the room they inhabited and closed the door in Ryobi's face, turning the deadbolt. "Get moving, Ryobi," she called through the door as he stood dumbfounded.

~ = + = ~

Ryobi expected little different from Pryce. His only response was a nod before turning to exit the showers. The pair rejoined Kitt outside the office, and Ryobi collected the backpack and other items before handing a bottle of pepper spray to the warden. "If they aren't an inmate and they try to hurt us, we should use the spray if we can, "Ryobi stated, despite the fact that they both knew already. "Heck, probably should do that with inmates too. Gunshots will alert half the station to our position."

He picked up the radio and handed it to Jan. "Want to do the honors?" he asked. "Remember what I said. We shouldn't give away more info than we get."
